I *believe*, and someone can correct me if I'm wrong, that they're there to remove static from the trains after each run. All GCIs have them, I'm not positive about other manufacturers though. I suppose the last thing you'd want riding around on your favorite wooden coaster is a spark! I asked them the same question. I was told they are there as a gentle reminder to riders to keep their hands in the train before hitting the not-so-gentle reminder wood platform. Yes i have seen that on some steel coasters as well. Particularly Skyrush so wing seasted people dont hit their legs on the station platform

^^Ya it could just be for beginning of the year or it may not. Definitley will keep you guys in the loop the entire season since i go just about every week or so. ^And i am just blown away that the GP is such babies(America is turning "soft"). Like the warning signs say "This ride produces extreme positive and negative G-Forces" so isnt that a cue for people to leave if they cant handle it? They should make the ride back to 100% and put up a new sign that says "If your a giant puss, then head on over to the Ferris Wheel!"

^Couldnt agree more, i laughed at people that got off and grabbed their legs! Like grow some balls and take a little pain(so they think) for 1:30 of awesomeness. Even though i think it is still a great ride im still dissapointed they slowed the lift. If you want a nice slow baby ride then head to Midway America and ride the damn ferris wheel
