Looks superb and I've heard nothing but great things from people who have ridden. Really thinking gunna try to get to Orlando later this year, maybe fall or winter, to snag this. Also Hagrid's which I've not done, (and yeah I think there's no doubt it will never be as good as Dragon's and still makes me sad, but I've processed it lol). I wonder when there may be a time that evades crowds but I forgot it's Orlando and there prob isn't really?

Oof for sure! Thankfully that's not been a problem when I go, late May/early June seems like a great time, but yes here's to hoping! Except for TTD when it may be advantageous. Coastermania 2017 I finally got a roll back on TTD when it was cool at night and kinda breezy -

lmao I mean nothing earth shattering from me, I hate to pile on Dorney it's already a meme....but with validity tbh. I also forgot, in the years since I've gone they removed Laser, a great lil ride, so hell now there's even less there! Shame too about that. Speaking of Coastermania absolutely no point in thinking about weather this far out, but god cloudy-ish not too hot, little chance of rain. Hope this sticks! -

Yeah Knoebels is deff the better park and if there's one you should think "ride and leave" it's Dorney. Not that Dorney doesn't have some solid rides but eh, and the park itself was always kinda eh. Was always kind of a "ride and bolt" place for me and I will echo what someone else said, I once did all of Dorney, including re-rides, in 2 hours no joke. Now crowds and all may be diff this year but still. -
Oof good luck! Yeah to both be fiscally responsible and not sure how much I love being there for possibly 3 hours before rain starts and how the rides will run on a cool cloudy day....I may shelve it. Jersey ain't terribly far, I mean the times I've gone was from NJ so I may just do it later in the year. Its an hour longer but eh not so bad, and by then I reckon masks will be no longer a thing outside, full capacity etc Maybe will make a mini New England trip, see friends in Vermont, do Great Escape and Canobie Lake!

Oh the FL+ is already purchased lol I did it along with m my Coastermania tix. The thought of CP without hurts me XD Yeah last time I went SV was consistently like 45 mins with FL, Maverick fluctuated but often around 30, but as ya said better than 2+ hours. It's just the nature of the beast. CP is an epic park, people come from all over the country and world (though prob not so much of that right now) and crowds are just a factor to take into it and gotta just do what ya can to mitigate it. Very thankful Coastermania is back, the ERT sessions really ease the pressure of the day, and I think I got a solid plan now for the day! What also hit me is Im rolling in the night before, and now that I got the platinum pass I can duck into the park like an hour before close (assuming they allow this) and just pop on a ride or two, get things started early -

But is that really what it is? Again only going off what I've heard (though this does include some locals when I went) people seem to think its not so much sometimes you need to subtract to add but as someone have said: the management just kinda leeches this place after it was sold to that company all those years ago. But I'm trying to be positive, I wanna enjoy here and I believe you said there's new leadership so hoping for the best! -

Hmmmm it has Revenge as operating? Is this page accurate? Bc if so, that's quite a relief that it's up already. It IS a shame KW has killed off a bit of its charm and history as the park was about that, kinda adds to the piling on that management has not been kind to it but seems that's true. Tis a shame, Steel Curtain shows you can still add the omg big new shiny thing still. And yeah from the stuff I've heard for years it seems it really has been bad management going well before covid, tis sad. -
Millennium Force, opening year. First giga and for that brief stint tallest and fastest traditional coaster on Earth. TTD, first "strata" (do we still use that term? lol) and ofc tallest and fastest, no caveats. Kingda Ka, next tallest and fastest. Though ofc no longer fastest Volcano, Magnum, Roller Coaster (woo 100 years!) Hypersonic XLC. Pretty proud of that one esp as not all have experienced it and ofc no one has been able to for a while. That ride IS the shed! It has a roller coaster attached to it But that one may deserve some history tbh "Ride with the most hilariously overhyped element ever in history"

Kings Dominion (KD) Discussion Thread
JJLehto replied to robbalvey's topic in Theme Parks, Roller Coasters, & Donkeys!
That's OK. These are all opinions after all, and there is no coaster king that can deliver definitive statements of irrefutable fact, (I mean us enthusiasts can't ever agree on literally anything lol) so that's all any of it is: our opinions, and it's OK to have differing ones Well OK Alan Schilke is the coaster king...but none of us are him. Yeah I always loved Grizzly but either its age is showing/was a bad day/I've experienced more...I had a pretty lackluster ride, though oddly Racer 75 which I recall thinking was just OK ran great that day! Superb air in back seat, maybe only 2 hills that were meh, wasn't sluggish at all it really moved. Odd bc it was a hot day, I rode Grizzly after....but oof almost felt like it was barely gunna make it! Yeah Dominator just frustrates me bc it kills all its speed too soon, and the first half is so unique, there's nothing else like it! I just wish it did more before that MCBR. It's a good ride that could be great in my book. Yeah that's fair, 305 is great but it's certainly "problematic" to say the least, but damn there is nothing quite like it. Maybe a good thing lol it does feel like it was designed almost recklessly and then oops better tweak it over time. You're right, they almost designed it tooooo big and it really didn't need to be. My biggest beef was the trim on the one airtime hill, you do really feel it and I thought maybe it'd be better to have it untrimmed and have a longer more drawn out/less whippy finale into the breaks but ah well. -

Damn even better!! Paid to have free access to all CF parks, now that's the life! But yeah as it's been said, since you've been to CP a few times and seem to be doing a coasters trip vs an experiences trip, a weekday and FL+ is prob way to go, as someone said "most bang for your buck" and you've been so you aren't missing out. Though as all have said you really can't do CP without it regardless even with early access. Yeah deff squeeze in Knoebels. Its true you can spend all day there, but even if you just wanna do a "hit and run" its deff worth it, some solid coasters! And yeah hit KD along the way/from Carowinds since you're going down there, I mean if its for free If you wanna put faith in an employee...they told me there was no cable snap and they don't think the I305 issue is major, so I'd bank on it and Twisted Timbers is also damn glorious. Like it exceeded my expectations, which were already quite high! -

Ah, yeah in this case I would agree/do the same myself. Also damn that's a helluva trip! Since you got a platinum pass and going all the way to Carowinds, might as well squeeze in KD it'll be free for ya as well and should be along the way. IDK When you plan on going but hopefully I305 will be up by then. Also while in PA try to squeeze in Knoebels, you'll be in the area and its a small but wonderful park. Shouldn't need much time to knock it out. Its even feasible to do it an Dorney on the same day if so inclined, but yeah I'd try to get that in some way! Edit: Seems like you're into this idea. Sounds like you're doing a trip along my lines: Just hit those coasters. In that case yeah deff do both. You can indeed speed through Dorney, and Knoebels for that matter. Hit the necessities and move on! -

Excellent thanks! Don't mind btw just wanted to make sure that was correct so I can plan for it Is it your first time going? BC staying on site and all for your first visit IS an experience. That said, depending on when you plan to go....a weekday with FL+ is likely "better". I only go on weekdays early or late season, and historically crowds aren't too bad. For what lines there are, that is where FL comes in handy. That said it's still a lot...if you wanna save some $ but still want early access there is always breakers express. But if you really wanna save $ yeah I agree, FL+ on a weekday is likely more productive. I will say though even with early access....you may not get as much done as you think. With Maverick I could squeeze 2, maybe 3 in, SV pretty much one... so even if you went w early access, you may wanna cave and get a FL+ anyway ESP being a weekend. If you are doing just one day, you prob shouldn't try CP without FL if you wanna get the most done you can. -

Ah nah all good I don’t come here too regularly so I machine gun post lol Yeah Phantoms is possibly down (but word is it will be up soon) and I305 was down but those are indeed a different trip. I needed a break between the coastering LOL And yeah I definitely am looking forward to the Kings Island I really wasn’t sure what to expect but I found it a wonderful place and it had some of the best ops I’ve ever seen. I’m banking that the park will again not be too crowded when I go on a weekday. -

Hm? How so? This trip hasn’t started yet and well that is a little unfortunate but It’s ok! I had one before. I’d be a little more bummed if I haven’t! It’s like I said in some other thread I’m trying to be pretty understanding things are not completely back to normal yet so we have to be open minded that things won’t be totally ideal. I’m still looking forward to it personally, I really enjoyed Kings Island and I have been wanting to get back! And yeah exactly I will gladly take two hours shorter than the whole day being pulled, esp since it’s a weekday and we saw what CP did. Deff counting my blessings on that one. -

Ah good to know! That said I wish they would just open the rides with gate opening lol Edit: Same Joel, ops were so slow I actually missed Jack Rabbit and Racer by choice. I was in a bad mood and given how slow lines were and the length when I went... would've been brutal. I can't fault them for Skyrocket being down and I knew it would be but also Exterminator went down though I heard rumblings it was bc lack of staff....which I could see bc this one ride had like maintenance/non ride ops doing it. Not kidding. They were clearly not ride ops and had no idea what they were doing. Sad to say but I only did Phantom's and Thunderbolt and left. I was also on my way back from CP, this year I'm stopping before (and on a weekday) so I'm hoping it's better. -

I recall SV isn't opening with early access on weekdays? Is this correct? Just to help w planning, I'll try to hit Maverick right at 9 to beat the early access crowds in that case and not even worry about SV. Esp since people will likely just spend the whole hour waiting for it to open. -

Aiight aiight I'll let it go, but from the person who seemed legit shook, actually angry it seems tbh(? Like who's the one that's repeatedly called the other an idiot), that someone had a different opinion, maybe not just I who should get over themselves? -

Oof guess no Beast night rides for me. Glad I got one before at least. -
So any word on if this Sat will go to full capacity trains? Bc tomm really does look like the best time for me and ya know, weekend crowds + not full capacity sounds even worse. I see the 29th we no longer need reservations, but does that mean full capacity? I see they are really trying to get people in, tix for $30? Well $35 but still, damn. Edit: Ohhh looks like a cooler day and rain later. May keep crowds away? Which is fine I need to duck out after a few hours to get to an event back in RI so this may work out.

That was perhaps my biggest let down. Perhaps things used to be different, but I always heard such wonderful things about this park and it was pretty cruddy, this was 2018 and I was already hearing things on here, and from a local, that didn't exactly instill confidence. It also reinforced my theory perhaps we fetishize small parks too much, bc some of the things that happened which got dismissed as "eh thats just Kennywood time" we'd be raging at and find totally unacceptable at Six Flags/Cedar Fair. Esp after going to places like Lagoon which were run far better I was like nah you dont get a pass lol But new cred...so alas I am going. The enthusiast curse XD -

Thanks for admitting you were indeed just stretching to try and counter me, which is fine we can all have our opinions (mine hasn't changed btw, visiting confirmed it...this park doesn't have a great lineup, the loss of 305 and avalanche really was evident. Not the park's fault but yeah) but that was some supreme stretching. But least backlot is fun, not as bad as hyping up Anaconda as a good thing XD -
Good! One less person in line when it opens XD Nah don't feel bad, those coaster community is, well...like this lmao Yeah that's a good point about going through with it during the pandemic. Besides Velocicoaster so many of the others have hit the breaks and now we're not even sure if they will open this year (I saw that supposedly BGW has taken down any ads that mention "2021" around the park for Pantheon) and yeah yeah I know all the speculations and possible reasons and I get it all...but yup Great Adventure is saying screw it, still gunna do it and gotta applaud em for it. It's esp wonderful that it's this park which as I mentioned before went from the new omg addition every couple of years to jack **** Glad they are adding this beast, the first big/not a near clone single rail. It kinda reminds of how SFGadv use to be I also completely forgot they had am S&S free spin! I found that a shockingly fun and awesome ride, so yeah color me excited.
