  1. Herschend was and is a different brand than Six Flags. There is one certainty. Kentucky Kingdom will not be receiving a launched wooden roller coaster any time soon.
  2. Are all Herschend parks dry parks? Beer Man at KK was on point.
  3. If the price is right, the company will sell. Bottom line. I mean... If he has a family that might be the most depressing thing I've ever read.
  4. Six Flags Saint Louis has no competition. They choose not to compete, because they don't have to. The park's business strategy revolves around local season pass holders and some daily ticket sales. The price point, offerings, and sustainability are working well for the product offered. There's no need for a giant park with cutting edge attractions here. Things will only change if the corporate model changes, which is unnecessary at this time.
  5. What are your ideas for why they would have pushed it back?
  6. KK likes to troll coaster enthusiasts almost as much as I do, except they're a little less vulgar.
  7. Kentucky Kingdom's booze game is ON POINT. If Herschend buys them, I'm fearful of how that will turn out.
  8. It's another example of Illinois being Illinois. If I didn't have any obligations in this state I'd do whatever I could to leave.
  9. ^Jersey Devil is a little more significant and will draw more income than a flat ride like Cat Woman. It's smart budgeting. They also may have had a locked in contract with the construction contractors that would have been expensive to get out of. Had construction already been started on Jersey Devil? Don't confuse expensive with expensive relative to the industry. I'm sure it's plenty expensive to construct a huge ride.
  10. So an 18 year old female should be more worried about the possibility of working with a potential 45-year-old male pervert, because they're different from potential 18-year-old male perverts? Sounds like a stereotype if I've ever heard of one. In a lot of circumstances, it's easier for an older person with years of established credit to find someone willing to rent to them. They 'should' also be more financially established and willing to afford something outside of a dorm. This frees up space for young employees who need more financial and logistical assistance. It makes it more attractive for them.
  11. ^^ The 50'th anniversary means nothing as far as additions go. It wouldn't have made a difference. Guests don't care if it's the 50th anniversary or the 5th anniversary. Is it? What's good for the goose is good for the gander. Let them recover before you set your expectations high. It's going to take a while.
  12. Too bad Volcano isn't still around. It was ahead of its time not only technologically, but it already had limited capacity down to a science.
  13. It will be cool when Pantheon finally opens, because all of the trees will have grown up around it.
  14. It's a decent park. I'm just not that big of a Six Flags fan. You get what you pay for. If they ffck with Screamin' Eagle, I'll be as upset as I was when they started launching Freeze the wrong way.
  15. ^If you ever come to SFSTL, you'll understand. People have been saying that for years, though. Like... since 2010...
  16. I remember those were the days I was really jaded and the typical enthusiast who just wanted bigger and better. I was pissed when Shapiro wanted adults and families to come back, instead of catering to the thrill seeking crowd. Over the past several years, I would have greatly appreciated his strategy. Now, I feel like Six Flags primarily caters to teenagers. (I personally hate how everything has to be superhero themed.)
  17. Look at all that fresh paint. Was that during the Shapiro days? Wasn't he less concerned with more attractions and more concerned with park maintenance and presentation? Thanks for sharing the pictures.
  18. The reason they haven't had a new coaster since 2009 is because of COVID.
  19. I'm way late to this conversation. Maybe Six Flags is trying to take a few pages out of the Action Park playbook.
  20. The park opens in May. There's no reason they should be talking about ride capacity and COVID precautions when we don't know what will happen in three months.
  21. They'll cut costs by closing half the rides due to wind.
  22. KD still has to figure out what ride they're going to remove before installing the free spin. They've decided to go toe to toe with Six Flags in 2021, but only in the ride removal category. Luckily, they've been practicing.
