Hidden/Secluded Park Areas
Xceleratorfan96 replied to coastercrazy 9's topic in Theme Parks, Roller Coasters, & Donkeys!
Oh yeah, and behind Revolution there is a little pathway that NEVER has a single person on it.... it''s also a great shortcut! -
I feel like those plans for the giga might have been true but were probably denied with the introduction of Matt Ouimet. We'll see if knott's does anything this season, but my gut tells me it will be more family oriented. Yeah, that's just what I heard about the giga, and those were like borderline rumors, I think more speculation. I agree with you on that one because either way you cut it, even adding a mega coaster would cost the farm a lot of money. While like you said about family oriented rides, the dark ride already has a building, so now it's just building a simple track design, themes, etc. Plus I've heard that Knott's was looking into dark ride manufacturers and that was a little more reliable than a rumor...

Hidden/Secluded Park Areas

Well Scream! @ SFMM is really secluded. I think first time gp guests seriously straight up miss it when they go to SFMM..... Also at DCA the Monsters Inc ride was placed pretty poorly... -
The Rumor / Crazy Idea Superthread
Xceleratorfan96 replied to Wes's topic in Theme Parks, Roller Coasters, & Donkeys!
I have heard speculation that they have been looking into dark ride manufacturers and they may use the old Kingdom of Dinosaurs building for a dark ride. As for the giga, I have heard the park has thought about removing Perilous Plunge, so if they were planning to put the giga in the boardwalk, they would probably remove Boomerang and Riptide as well. Riptide could maybe be relocated in the park, PP would be scrapped and Boomerang may be relocated or sold. -
The Rumor / Crazy Idea Superthread
Xceleratorfan96 replied to Wes's topic in Theme Parks, Roller Coasters, & Donkeys!
So here's my "crazy idea".... SFNE has confirmed their Skyscramer XL, and SFOT is rumored to get one. I have always had this feeling that SFI has one more normal Skyscreamer up their sleeve. Could SFOG get this Skyscreamer? Out of the parks that haven't gotten them (SFMM,TGE,SFA,SFGAm,SFOG)... -SFMM should be getting a coaster in 2013 and they are getting a Funtime Slingshot, so maybe SFI got them a slingshot instead of a Skyscreamer?(idk) -SFGAm just got X-Flight and apparently has to go thru a similar approval process to SFNE for anything over 120 ft? So either this Skyscreamer is lo-key or not happening.... I have nothing against SFA or TGE, so that's why I'm not positive about this claim. That's my crazy idea! -
The Mack idea makes since, I just don't see it happening since SF hasn't really used them. Like mentioned, we all would love Intamin because of their awesome rep and the fact that they pretty much guarantee airtime. Nevertheless, SFMM obviously has a thing for inversions so it will probably be Premier! As for the WCB thing, if they would have announced the sling shot it would have made since. But considering they never formally announced it, SFMM kind of screwed us over there, or the corporate said "oh actually just wait to announce it in August."

Its funny you say that. I just got back from the TRP trip to Canada's Wonderland, and I have to say that Ghost Rider is glass smooth compared the the crap wooden coasters there. There is no doubt that Ghost ride could be smoother, it was once. But they do take good care of the ride considering the other woodies I've ridden that are barely maintained at all. You can tell GhostRider's problem isn't in the track, on the ride it's not big bumps like on oh let's say Colossus, it's a constant small shaking. I feel like if they got new cars on that thing it would be a TON better! It's already a really fun wood coaster, the bumpiness it has is just annoying, not even painful.

From what I remember past up-charge attractions at Magic Mountain like Dive Devil and Thrill Shot neglected to have any grand opening day before they opened. In fact, they may have been mentioned in the initial press release, but I have never seen them promoted or advertised like any other regular attraction in the park. I would expect this slingshot attraction to be installed and opened in a similar manner. This leads me to believe there are other things going on in the park that they will announce at the end of August. And seeing a land surveying marker in the Log Jammer area is a good sign they are taking the steps to prepare for something. The marker is an old picture. It has been there for quite sometime now. Yeah I guess I should have posted the link to the TR too, it was in February! Still, that gives more leeway to the coaster. If the park was surveying in February, they obviously had to undergo an approval process, which part of was making sure the ground was stable enough to build on! (especially in earthquake potential California!) All I'm saying is watch for August 30th!!! #gobig2013

I'm almost positive SFMM will build a new coaster sometime in 2013. The biggest evidence is the removal of the Log Jammer. Why would the park be in such a hurry to remove a running log flume that they knew meant a lot to a lot of people. My mom hasn't been to SFMM since Goliath opened and she was sad to hear LG was going. On another note, the bare piece of land that LG used to occupy is quite the eye sore. It would have been once thing to remove Log Jammer for whatever reason, but they moved the surround trees, flattened the land, and even had it surveyed for a new ride. As seen by the caption and picture from The Coaster Guy: This is the first marker of any kind that I have seen. It says “Gorian USA”, which is a reference to Gorian & Associates. They provide geotechnical engineering services, which means they test the earth and make recommendations on the footings necessary for heavy lateral loads, especially on hillsides. They’ve worked with Magic Mountain since the early days in helping them design proper footers for their roller coaster installations: Click here to see some history on Gorian & Associates working on Viper back in 1990.

When was your last visit to the park? Was it in the winter or offseason? I HATE when people post PTRs bashing SFMM from an offseason visit. Yes, SFMM is mediocre at best in the offseason with half ass maintenance and rides running one train. But considering they don't have an offseason, we're lucky they're even keeping the park open!!!! I heard sooo many people complain of the mess the park had this offseason and at WCB, like honestly yes they were clearing a ton of land for Lex and the 2013 coaster! Some people just don't understand and idk why but it really gets under my skin.... lol I'm not bashing you at all, especially since I'm not even sure if ur last visit was in the offseason. I just had to get that out of me!

Roughest coaster
Xceleratorfan96 replied to jbuck's topic in Theme Parks, Roller Coasters, & Donkeys!
Revolution..... -_______- seriously such a joke! They could easily fix it too! -
What the..... why is SFMM so exciting? I wanna hear $h!t about a sick giga coaster at Knott's! lol But yeah it sounds like this guy (or a group of staff members) want something that is unrealistic. If you have been to the mountain a lot, a coaster that goes from the LG spot, winds around the Sky Tower, and touches the Deja Vu spot in any way is ridiculous.

Viper isn't smoother than Scream, just for me Scream has gone to pretty smooth to pretty bumpy. It's sad because it can be really fun, it just seems like the park really neglects it. Like someone brought up some posts ago^^^^, Viper has been aided by GASM and Shockwave's removal. For me, Viper has gone from really rough to pretty damn smooth for a 21 year old coaster. I have grown over the years, but I think the ride has just generally gotten smoother. Plus, in Viper you can press your legs against the front of the car to stop any bumps. Scream is floorless, leaving you helpless! XD
