  1. I will stick with my all-time worst park, Paramount's Great America. I have never been to a dirtier, worse taken care of park. I think what makes it worse is that it is a big park chain. If it was some crap park in the middle of nowhere I would understand, but this is a Paramount's park in a large metropolitain area. Pathetic!
  2. Don't forget that SeaWorld and Discovery Cove are adding things this year. Aquatica sounds like a perfect name for that water slide/ animal attraction thing they are building. Just my opinion. Busch has a tradition of naming coasters after an animal or something like an animal (real or mythological). So I would guess, IF the new ride is a coaster that this name isn't for that.
  3. I rode Drachen Fire the day it opened. I waited 3 hours for it. The line started back up where the games are at in front of Das Festhaus. A few years later, my first job was as a Ride Operator on Drachen Fire. She was much more popular than people give her credit for. I remember one Labor Day, we had 25,000 people ride during the day. The line stretched to where the old souvernier shop was. We usually got numbers close to Loch Ness and BBW. Of course that was before Alpengeist and Apollo. Yes, we did have to have people remove earrings. One day a lady had her left hoop ripped out. It was pretty gruesome. I also saw many people barf after riding. NOTHING was worse than having to clean up an entire train after a dude in the front yaked. Those people were ruined for life. But she was very reliable, as it almost never broke down. The worst part about it was the turn into the mid brakes out of the cobra roll (we called it a batwing). But it had many unique items like the corkscrew dive and the turnback helix. Also the trains had running lights along the sides that people really got a kick out of. It would make an excellent ride it re-designed by B&M (it's original designer, but I'm sure you all know the story) or something. But I realize that won't happen. "Now sit back, and enjoy your ride on the tail of Drachen Fire!"
  4. I will go the opposite way on this. And not just because everyone likes SpiderMan. I liked DarKastle more based on the originality of it. True the concept isn't new, but the characters and story is. SpiderMan is an enormously popular comic book character with villians and friends already made up. DarKastle is completely unique. To me, there isn't a big enough difference in the ride itself to say SpiderMan is better. So I turn to creativity, uniqueness, and themeing. That is where DarKastle wins (to me )
  5. Cats are the worst animals ever. They rip up stuff and smell bad and are just plain annoying. I don't like dogs either but if I have to choose cat or dog (and my wife is going to make me ) then it will be a dog. BTW, ChrisZer0, just play some rap or Britney Spears or turn on some hockey and they scamper like roaches.
  6. AceCombat 5: The Unsung War
  7. For me, this is easy. Waited 2 hours for Hypersonic XLC (Yawn). I waited 3 hours for Drachen Fire on opening day (worth it) and 3 hours;twice; for X (worth it) but HXLC, .
  8. I used to go to this when I live in Fort Worth back in the 80's. The "fake snow" hills where there and the only ride open was "Avalanche" oh sorry La Vibora. It was pretty new (there) and so had really long lines. The only food place open was the fried chicken store by the enterprise and they sold hot chocolate and cider in plastic cups that said "Holiday in the Park". I still have one somewhere. Anyways, thanks for the TR and helping me remember my childhood
  9. Half the fun of Vegas is checking out the "newspaper cities". You know, where the 8 million homeless drape the newspapers over a fence to make a home. Many are right around the corner of Sahara (trust me  ) Walking by yourself gets those juices flowing more than any rollercoaster.
  10. Again, I can understand where you are coming from referring to the music and pre-shows; you are at an amusement park and you want to escape "real world" problems. But you have to remember where BGW is, Hampton Roads home of 13! military installations, by far the biggest concentration of military anywhere in America. I really can't give an unbiased opinion since it affects me so much so I guess it would be pointless to say "It doesn't bother me. " Also, BGW isn't supposed to be an exact replica of Europe, just a glimpse. They don't have the money like a Disney to get it perfect. And to be honest Epcot doesn't do it that well either; and their areas are smaller ( just more countries). The park is a homage to the people of those countries that contributed to America, as is BGT. BTW, why did cfc get written about in the Daily Press?
  11. I rode a huge ferris wheel at Everland in South Korea, it was real rusty and shaky plus it was raining and windy. The thing was cracking and it really did feel like that it would fall over at any moment. I could see them calling my wife back in America and telling her that I died on a ferris wheel. Finally I got off and refused to even go close to it again.
  12. That photo of the ride op is awesome. I'll have to try and remember her face so I don't put my kids on any ride she is operating. (although with that attitude, she will probably be gone soon) Venison is the best! We had to shoot 5 on our airfield last week, Mmmmm tasty. Just in time for Thanksgiving. Yeah Joe, if you want to know more about Mormons just visit Utah ( you know, because of Lagoon ). I live there 3 years and my best friend is Mormon. Very secretive religion.
  13. Vegas is always fun, but at Halloween, it changes your perspective of humanity. BTW have you walked "The Miracle Mile". That is, get a drink (alcoholic, of course) and gamble at every casino from Mandalay Bay to Stratosphere. The known record is 4 hours and we slept on the bus back to our hotel (real bad idea BTW).
  14. My very first roller coaster was "Judge Roy Scream" at SFOT. It used to scare the stuffing out of me.
  15. I dunno, perhaps there was something wrong with the motors that day. Or something was trapped or stuck like a wheel. When I went in 2003, it got up to your "Before" line.
  16. BGW and BGT are supposed to be polar opposite parks. That is what gives them their uniqueness. Busch doesn't want to be another Six Flags. I can understand some of this but I have to kindly disagree with some of it. First of all, don't forget that the park is owned by Anheuser-Busch and they are in a major advertisement "war" with Miller , so it is both a joke and an ad to show that most of Busch's profits and money stays in the US, something they are very proud of. And the "Troops" thing, well, since I am in the Air Force it will be difficult for me to give an even opinion so I will leave it at this, we members of the Armed Forces really love that Busch has allowed us to go to a park for free. You know what you get when you go to Busch so they aren't afraid to shout it out loud. Is it an advertisement ploy, more than likely but SFOG has given free passes and many other parks give huge discounts so it isn't isolated. Anyway, Tampa does what it does very well and so does Williamsburg. But after all is compared, BGW (I believe) is a better park.
