  1. I believe GhostRider has the best drop out of the 11 or 12 wooden coasters I've been on. The shed actually is kinda cool and adds some headchopper + noise effects, and the laterals on pullout at the bottom are juicy. Plus it's the only wooden coaster that could get me to go this crazy.. Losing my S. My sincerest apologies to my friend behind me.
  2. Thanks, XYZ! You're right about the terrain+forests making it look more unrealistic compared to the real thing. If I could find a good model of the Star Tower to use, I'd definitely make a version more resembling CGA as well. I just can't help but wish they carved out some of the hills in the back of Gilroy Gardens and put this over there instead
  3. I wish I still had interests in normal next-gen gaming.. Working in the industry kind of kills that for you. Anyway, here's another of the games I'm currently playing. Jubeat! [youtu_be]http://youtu.be/mtv6-xrHPLU[/youtu_be] Definitely not me playing, as my arcade hasn't upgraded to Jubeat Saucer yet. We're still on fully-locked Jubeat Copious like cavemen savages :C
  4. Hey all, I always seem to obsess like crazy over one coaster every year in No Limits, and since this is the first year in I think about ten that my home park's getting a new one, I thought I would focus on that. Track for the -most- part is fairly accurate. At least from what I can tell from pictures of the construction site, I think it's fairly accurate? I'm no good at any of the fancy tools like Newton, so it's all just old fashioned and hand made. Either way, I wasn't feeling the whole concrete slab/office building motif they've got going over at CGA, so I figured I'd throw some terrain and trees in to see what it would be like if, say, SDC or some foresty park got Gold Striker instead. Also, as of a few days ago last time I checked, the "tunnels" around the first drop and airtime hill weren't covered with anything yet, so what you see in the pictures is just sort of my interpretation of what they may be like when finished. Pretty sure they're not covering the brake run as well, I just thought it looked really neat and gave it a bridge-like feeling. Anyways, it's still in the last bits of construction, not quite ready to be released.. but here are some pics I grabbed of it. If the hills/trees aren't popular I could always probably make another version more akin to CGA. An overview of half of the back half of the coaster. The pre-lift portion plus part of the Vortex plaza turnaround. The back two turnarounds + the twisted hills that lead between them. A shot from inside the airtime hill tunnel looking towards the first drop. A shot of the first drop and my interpretation of the Ghostrider-esque treatment it's probably going to end up getting.
  5. Vortex at cga in its second season!
  6. Yay I get to bump a dead thread. Here's some of the tats I've got.. My Tiger: Nickname's been Tiger all my life. My tattoo artist/best friend decided to draw this one up for me! My Scott!: Scott Pilgrim represents everything that's important to me. Love, Music, and Video Games. Too bad he never went to a theme park in any of the comics. The cover to my favorite band Halcali's first single: Halcali: I DARE you to watch and not fall in love with these girls. [youtu_be] [/youtu_be] My Bunch of Baby Ducks from Regular Show: WOOOHHHHHHHHHHH! Aaaaaand my Mickey <3: Thinking of finishing up my Fantasia sleeve at some point. Also thinking about getting a Bloodface tattoo somewhere because he is my hero.
  7. Why have virtual whitewater rapids when you've got both Whitewater Falls AND Rip Roaring Rapids...?
  8. I used to work about fifty feet from where Gold Striker's currently going up. Physically closest coaster to my actual house would proooobably be Flight Deck.
  9. I just couldn't envision Slash listening to Coldplay.
  10. Nice to see a thread for this here! Gay myself. I've sort of noticed that the coaster community (and definitely the Disney community) seems to generally have a higher percentage of gay people in it compared to the "10%" seen elsewhere. It's cool to see a poll that actually confirms it!
  11. I'm trying my hardest not to be biased, but California Screaming really just has it all. Launch + Lift + Airtime + Soundtrack + The most beautiful surroundings make it add up to be my current favorite launched. Pop some lapbars on it and you've got a perfect ride.
  12. Qrispy Joybox - Snow Prism. [youtu_be]http://youtu.be/1cMG1YKueWw[/youtu_be] Qrispy Joybox can DO NO WRONG! <3
  13. Here's a pic of my boyfriend and I hanging out at DCA. And here's one of me and my ex at Goofy's Kitchen..
  14. Currently majorly obsessed with Reflec Beat. Can AAA+ FC all songs except for the 10+'s, which are just too crazy to accurately read for me right now. Here's an example of some gameplay: [youtu_be] [/youtu_be]
  15. 10/10 Circles within circles attached to lines is personally one of my favorite things in the world.
  16. Hello! I'm Chris. Been a member here since June 14th 2012 aka the day I was bored waiting in line for DCA's grand re-opening. Been a coaster fan all my life. Also been a bay area guy all my life. Started my obsession back when CGA and SFDK were MGA and MWAUSA. Dad managed to sneak me on Tidal Wave when I was 3/4ish and it was all (lolpun) downhill from there. Started following the industry and behind-the-scenes stuff when Stealth was under construction in 1999. You gotta imagine the confusion seeing that being built and not having an understanding of what would come to be known as the "flying position". That, along with Goliath at SFMM, were the first two coasters that I ever really watched the whole construction process for, and I was definitely hooked. My credit list is pretty sad right now. Every coaster in California + Cedar Point as of 2007 (Long distance relationships are SO worth it if the dude lives next to CP) and Six Flags Great America as of 2008 (Went to see my favorite band play ACEN at the Chicago convention center). Hoping to get out to to the Tokyo Disney parks if my job sends me out to the Tokyo Gaming Show this year. Been a Disney guy now as well going on 28 years (+the times I went there in the womb). Went and did the SFMM/Universal/Knotts/Disney trips yearly with my parents, and started driving down on my own once I turned 18. Annual Passholder now, so on average I go anywhere from 6-12 times a year. Went to the premieres of Tower, World of Color, and Cars Land. Love Fantasia/Fantasmic so much I decided to get something that'll always remind me how great they are.. Currently the only Disney tattoo I have (Others are Scott Pilgrim, Regular Show, and the cover to the first Halcali single), but I'm planning on extending it into a Fantasia sleeve. As for what I do outside of theme parks.. I'm a QA Test Lead for a Game Testing/Localization/Focus Group company that works with 1st and 3rd party video game companies that have too much on their plate and need to outsource part of the QA for projects. It's a fun job, but it's definitely caused me to play WAY less games on my spare time. I mostly just stick to No Limits/WoW/Reflec Beat/Jubeat nowadays. Speaking of music games, that would be yet another one of my many obsessions. My music game resume... Parappa: 1996 - Forever <3 DDR: 1998 - 2003 Beatmania: 1998 - 2004 IIDX: 2001 - Ongoing Pop'n Music: 1999 - Ongoing Drummania: 2001-2012 Guitar Freaks: 1999-2000 Drummania XG: 2010 - Ongoing Guitar Freaks XG: 2010 - Ongoing Jubeat: 2010 - Ongoing Reflec Beat: 2011 - Ongoing Any other music gamers on the forums? Would love to get some JB/RB score battles going! Anyway yeah, that's me. Nice to meet you all!
  17. In my opinion it's less that Grizzly is physically bumpy, but more that there are a few spots in the layout that suffer from bad/weird banking that slam you into the side of the car/riding partner (bottom of first drop, sudden jerk into the second turnaround, the exit of the third turnaround).
  18. Definitely an archway. It's kind of hard to tell from that angle, but the tracks definitely lead up to the wood at the bottom of the arch.
  19. Not sure I've seen very many pics of GS from this angle. Looks like the last few bits of the lift have just gone up. Thankfully my old Namco keycard still works in the parking garage!
  20. Guys I think PGA will really strick gold with this new coaster.
  21. Some dude went up in a basket and is currently doing something underneath the track just before the zero-g.
