Sorry I just saw this. But is that the old SOB site? I tried to see where the picture was taken on Google Maps but I am not 100% sure. -
Unnecessary Queuing Lines
RCT3Bross replied to palmerleeberry's topic in Theme Parks, Roller Coasters, & Donkeys!
Blue fire's queue line was unnecessary long if you ask me. When I got to ride it in 2010 we had a 5 minute long walk before entering an hour and a half up to an hour and 3 quarters queue, and still the queue line was not fully used that day. If you ask me that line is designed for a 3 hour wait or something. -

^ Looks like one problem is fixed. First the top and bottom half where swamped that's fixed now. Really good that they show the meaning after the 5 legs for the GP. Towerstimes. If you look at this video You see the Disorientator has some strobes in it. Within the game when you go upside down inside you have a strobe flashing. So perhaps the Disorientator is the inside inversion. -

I found a testing video. Not of the coaster it self of coarse but from the Marmaliser screens: https://www.facebook.com/photo.php?v=10151364713136050 I think its a very odd projection but hey It's a odd ride so comes together. -

You can see a small piece of track (as long as the transfer-track) next to the track. Let's say that's the length of 1 train. Seeing that the maintenance shed is twice as long and wide as that piece it seems like there is room for 4 trains inside. Perhaps this is a clue to the number of trains, It looks like they can storage 5 trains at once perhaps there will be 5 trains. Sound possible: Train 1 and 2 on the ride it self. train 3 uploading. train 4 unloading. train 5 within brake section (or possible reserve for busy days or broken train.) About the space between the indoor heartline and Lift. I can think of numerous things. But looking at the picture it looks like quite a bit of height difference, making a guess by looking at the picture it is around 6 meter (19,7 feet), what will make a speed that needs to be taken care of for the first lift. Do I believe it needs to be that long? No, Yet I know from early pictures that there won't be a trick track so who knows. -

On this photo on Facebook, someone commented: "Nice to see they're being eco friendly too " Now I might be wrong, and I hope I am, then I think they think the Marmaliser is a machine used to gather up trash or something. If that's really the case, then just... wow... I'm 100% sure (s)he is referring to the solar-panels on the Flasher. (also from Towerstimes facebook) It looks amazing like this. Can't wait to see the final look of this ride. -

^^ Yes I'm sure. This 1170 meter (3838 feet) long track is complete. I mean enough is enough. On Towerstimes Facebook they released a sneak peak of the last aerial update. This sneak peak shows the Marmaliser: I must say I think it looks really impressive already. I wonder how they don't make it look like a concrete bin with a coaster but on a great themed area. -

It took some time but it's finally complete. Well I guess now nothing more then installing the chain in the first hill and finish the wire work so they can finally go over to testing this beautiful ride. I'm already looking forward to it. -

During this interview, creator of the ride, John Wardley states that they managed to get more track per square meter then any other ride in the world so far. Just a reminder of why it looks like a big twisted mass of steel. Can't wait till tomorrow when the last piece of this monstrous 3D jigsaw goes in place. -

Found a new picture of the second drop going in. Towerstimes forum. This makes all the 14 inversions complete, and only leaves the first lift hill. Update: Another lift piece was placed today. Looks like 4 pieces to go. Theme park worldwide Can see it completed soon. Can't wait to see the last piece going in. -

This picture shows in the back the last 2 gaps of the ride. Theming. I must say I can't believe the smiley faces are actually going to cover the building. Hypnotiser is on its place. Wonder how long its going to take for the test runs. -

Hope that the other drop is also finished of today, we'll see. Update: Hypnotiser has arrived at his final distention: Towerstimes member Great to see the 5 arms together. -

Ride close is 5PM and park stays open for around another hour. Latest he was probably there was 6 or before so they were still working on it at that time. We will find out the status of said track tomorrow once the park opens. Chances are they will have it in place. Oops sorry had to do some more research there. but yeah still that makes at least a 2 and a half hour of winching. (the first picture was taken on 3:30 PM) -

I just read on a towerstimes post that they were still banging, wincing and forcing it on his place, when he left. I don't know how late that was but seeing the time of posting is 8:03 PM (20:03) and he stated that he goes back tomorrow it could be that they were still busy with it at 7:30 PM (19:30) I've seen pieces that weren't completely right, but this far off was new for me. -

About that picture, the piece is either not put into place properly (can't see the other end of it), but if it's out of alignment then you just need to move the supports a bit, there is plenty of movement at the footers if these things happens. And I'm pretty sure that most supports on this rides isn't even bolted to the footers, the just put the tubes into larger holes and just ram some wedges around the support so that it sits still. Then when it's all done fill the voids around the support with concrete and it's done. But I do have to say that this thing looks a lot better than I have ever imagined. I might even consider to go back to Alton this year to have a go No this next picture if from almost a hour later: Towerstimes They're using a jack to force it in his place. I wonder if it fits already haven't seen any picture of that. -

It took some time but the first drop is finally done. Picture from Towerstimes: Roodlesnouter Also they lift goes up. Towerstimes. There aren't much pieces left now. 1 to finish of the second inverted drop, and about 6 or 7 for the lift and pre-drop. I feel like a big part is done after today. Update: It seems the drop piece doesn't fit well with the turns. How will they fix it? Theme park collectives. -

Incoming thoughts are that the reason they are removing The Smiler coverings are because they need to move the fence back to get the final Marmaliser leg in - The Hypnotiser. It would obviously need the crane on the public side of the fence so it will be done after closing if it was to happen. It could also be because they want to put up the actual black fencing on this side of the site. Now you say it, it does sound possible. I guess thats also when they make the first inverted drop complete. Because looking at the picture of Towers street they are now working on the second inverted drop, so reaching all the way back to the First Drop won't be easy. -

^^^ Has someone there forgot about the drops? That the fences gone down could mean something bad like a June opening. The fences said May 2013 and perhaps they don't feel like reaching it then. Just a possible negative thing that came to thought. -

^^ I never understood that from Guinness book of World records. For me that record is still in the hands of Colossus and soon to be in the hands of The Smiler. I hope they going too look at the Smiler and give it to him because it actually has 14 inversions. -

...It is? Oh, ok. I guess I'll have to take your word for it. I can't tell at all what's going on here. Look at the construction plan I posted. Its hard to keep up, but its 100% accurate. There isn't more to do but the First lift, first drop en the drop after the vertical lift (twisted drop). -

Track work being done today and the ride is almost done. (Alton Towers guide facebook) Final turn into the brakes are now done. Top view of the work done on the ride. Black and yellow are done, red and orange not done. Only the first drop, twisted drop and first hill need to go in. For the 2 drops (the majority of) the Supports are placed. I expect a weekend completion of the ride, it sounds pretty reasonable now. -

Some sort of this. I often need to hear from family to stop with this hobby and find something normal boys my age have interest for. Of course I say to them that no way in the world I quit this wonderful hobby. I guess I never get them to understand how I look at coasters. -

I still want to know whats up with the lift. It doesn't have the traditional anti roll back and fins with a chain lift. Looking forward to see some off rides now.
