  1. I really, absolutely, think its' the design of the restraints/trains tho. at least for me. I mean, Magnum has a ton of bucking, and it's never really caused me to get off it hurting. and tho I agree with you on Texas Giant (which I just rode for the 1st time three days ago, and found the 2nd half of the ride to be slow and meandering). . it and iron Rattler have the older version of the restraints (yeah, I realize a different train manufacturer too), but the restraints don't bother me at all.
  2. it's hard to NOT have a good time at BGW. . . but if you get a lot of rain during your day, there's always the following indoor shows as options: -- the British "hits" one in the front section (tho honestly, I didn't think it was great, and didn't bother with it this past visit) -- Celtic Fyre in Ireland, which is very good (especially if you enjoy Irish Step Dancing). and it's right across the walkway from the Irish Pub, with a great selection of on tap options, including a fantastic Blackberry Cider, and frozen Blue Hawaiians. -- the Brewhaus in Germany.. which besides food (and beer) options, has a HUGE seating capacity, and a stage in the middle for "theater in the round".. you can wait out rain there and enjoy the food, drink, and pay attention (or not) to the show... we couldn't figure out the plot, but it was something to look at. . LOL
  3. thanks, Andrew! It was so cool to be so close to it, because it really hauls butt. just zooms by. and Bill. . now be nice these two ladies were wonderful, and I enjoyed chatting with them during our backstage tour!
  4. I liked Riddler, but since I rode it the first time just after Skyscreamer, it didn't seem that high. But I LOVED Harley (riding on the outermost seat, it feels like you're gonna hit the beams as it twirls. . going Single Rider line is the way to go. . ended up in outermost seats on both of my Sunday rides). and I think I liked Catwoman slightly better too. and FINALLY after 9 years, got to get a ride on Mr. Freeze (it broke down while I was in line for it Sat, but waited it out, and got a back seat ride). it broke down while i was in line for it on Sunday too. .but they cleared the line in that case and wouldn't let us wait it out, so went to Batman instead. and by the way, Wendi. . thank you SO much for your help while we were in Arlington. TPR folks really are the best
  5. as promised the other day, here are the pics from our "Behind the Scenes" Intimidator 305 tour at Kings Dominion Wish I could recall the 2nd lady's name who was with us as park reps (tho the Maintenance guys were the ones leading the tour). I can see Danielle's name tag on the right, but cannot recall the lady on the left! Hopefully Robb, or someone who was with us recalls. . I really owe them for the recommendation of Orange train near the front for Grizzly -- it really was a tip that worked out! thru the magic gate into the backstage area looking up at Anaconda's lift hill Anaconda . artsy photo but here's the star! we get pretty close, actually! turning back around to Anaconda LOL. . was taking pic of Drop Tower going up, I think part of Racer 75 thru the trees artsy I305 pic Racer 75's turn around, both trains are there, but can only see right side and there's left zoom zoom Racer 75, and I305's leg whee! shot thru the trees while walking around the coaster ?? and Danielle on far side of the ride, looking back towards park oh Volcano. . .why must you tease us. the exiting magic gate, to lead us back into the general park population but not before turning around to get a few more pics!
  6. I find them fun, and usually will take a spin on them. glad we just rode (for the 1st time) Cado Lake Barge, if it is going away. Not near as intense, or fun, as Pipe Scream at Cedar Point, but it was a nice little distraction and feels like a mini Tilt a Whirl. also to note, what a difference a day makes! we went back to SFoT yesterday morning for a few hours before heading back to Austin, and without it being BAFF day? Park was *way* less crowded, operations were spot on, and the employees were all happy and cheerful (although, it WAS morning, and the heat of the day hadn't kicked in yet). in just under 3 hours, hit: Battle for Metropolis Skyscreamer (almost a walk on, after pulling 2hour waits Sat) Riddler (twice) Catwoman Harley (twice) Batwing Batman (was gonna do Mr. Freeze, but it broke down while in line, and tho came back up less than 10 minutes later, they made everyone evacuate the line, so just went to Batman instead) Judge Roy Pandemonium Superman ToP Rodeo (hadn't been open on Sat) and Runaway Mountain (with only a 15 minute wait). so yeah, we got a LOT done in under 3 hours. it's weird in that several rides didn't open until close to noon tho. it's not AREAs, but rides: Harley opened around 11:40, JRS opened at Noon, Aquaman not till noon, and we noticed that Roaring Rapids also didn't open till noon.
  7. i was just at magic mountain the other day and finally sat in a train with one of those. (they're randomly here and there on twisted colossus) i know i'm not putting my phone in there since magic mountain never cleans their trains at all. the pouch was just nasty looking inside. i'm sure if cedar fair ever did something like that, it would be done a better and maintained. then i'm sure people would try to hold them liable if something went wrong. wouldn't a simple statement such as "at your own risk" cover them? i mean, if they don't want to leave in a FFBFwMaG, then this is their only option, so any issue would be their own fault? but it would be a nice option. . I had zippered pockets to put my phone in, but really the line for Giant would have been pretty dull if I had not been able to text back and forth with spouse while waiting. (he didn't ride and was waiting for me on a bench)
  8. ^ that it's indoors in the AC is a big plus, but I really did find it an enjoyable way to spend 25-30 minutes. I think the folks I saw it with enjoyed it too.
  9. glad to see they are getting a good turn out at night. surprised you didn't go to any bands, a few of them looked like fun (the 80's night in particular, I certainly would have shown up for).
  10. and not to open up this discussion again, but having just gotten back from Six Flags Over Texas, and ridden New Texas Giant - and was surprised to find a zippered net pocket attached to the seat in front of you, to place your cell phone in -- explicitly stated that is what it was for. . . . I really don't understand why some of the newer coasters aren't offering this?
  11. Nice pics from a park I've not been to! someday, I'll get there and get to ride the Beast!
  12. Harley Quinn Spinsanity from SFOT at night
  13. Thank Paul! glad you're enjoying. thanks! on computer in hotel lobby up in Dallas, before heading to SFoT for a few hours prior to heading back to Austin. plan on updating with pics from the I305 tour likely tomorrow.
  14. oh yeah, there was a TON of lightning off in the distance during the TT ERT. . made for some fantastic visuals (tho the pics I tried to take of it didn't come out well at all). I'll *bet* it added some excitement to the experience! (as noted during Carowinds update, we did see funnel counds from lift hill on NightHawk, so wasn't surprised at all they shut everything down shortly after. . even tho it never really rained)
  15. I'm with you on this, tho totally realize we're in the minority (big time) but I found those grab bars to be the only reason I was able to ride SV, and they would have made TT much more tolerable to me. as noted in other places tho. . .there are lots of other coasters I love, so no real biggie.. but if more of them had grab bars (or switched back to the older restraints such as on Texas Giant or on Iron Rattler? , I'd ride them more.
  16. Mr Freeze Reverse Blast Finally. After almost a decade of trying
  17. I will add to note the employees actually operating the rides. .. in particular the flats, were enthusiastic, engaging the riders currently on the rides, and seemed to be enjoying the job To highlight one? The op at Gunslinger. Such a great enthusiasm— on a kind of lame cycle (no tilt at all?). But we didn’t really care some he was so much fun
  18. Spent Afternoon (till close) at park. Absolutely packed due to BAFF, the flash sale, and a special 10-midnight event for diamond memberships Still got in quite a bit even w/out flash pass (which itself had a hell of a line. Which is why I blew it off) Loved Harley and Catwoman. And finally got a bucket list coaster off my list Likely will do a full tr once I finish up my current one. But do want to note I have never experienced so many entitled a-holes and so much line cutting as I experienced today After the 5th group of teenagers cut the line at giant I said something to the six flags staff. And they shrugged at it. And I witnessed an employee at Johnny rockets watch someone drop onion hoops on the floor and just stand there leaving the slipping hazard there instead of cleaning it up - and she was LEANING ON A BROOM Had a good time but sheesh. The clientele and some staff at SFOT leave a lot to be desired Might go back in the morning to try and get a few things we skipped due to lines. But might just blow it off due to the atmosphere Still had a decent time today tho. Just lowered some of my faith in humanity
  19. Sorry still listed closed on Six Flags website. the entire park is still closed - it's just barely 10am. the catch car moving is the first sign of anything in many weeks. . no reason to crap on his hope it will open "soon"
  20. I'd rather have no music than some of what we got at the next park! just you wait. . LOL
  21. the restraint bar is very different too (I can ride IR with no issues whatsoever, but TC, TT, and SV all really hurt my thighs from the ejector air).
  22. I have a couple of others but was very pleased to find one with the Centennial celebration, AND in a size I could wear! (and clearance, only $8 was an added bonus)
  23. I love that you bought rainbow socks (multiple pairs!). . and then walked around all day without putting them on - wearing NO socks. despite the fact they would have matched your tie dye Disney shirt. LOL
