Photo TR of our 14 days of rollercoasters in the Usa
SFOGdude25 replied to Groteslurf's topic in Photo Trip Report Archive
^I was gonna say. I had a fun time on my front row ride. Maybe you need to learn how to ride it correctly. I've got a good riding strategy: Lean into the sharp transitions, and your ride will be MUCH more comfortable. Oh yeah, ride in the back, too. Vortex has the best first drop of all the coasters in the park in the back! -
Photo TR: Cedar Point opening weekend
SFOGdude25 replied to jackskellington101's topic in Photo Trip Report Archive
I will tell you, Mean Streak is pretty enjoyable in the front. The ride is somewhat smooth, and has a nice visual experience going through all that wood. I agree with most others that, as a ride itself, it is still boring. Nice pics by the way! Can't wait for the next set! -
HAHA!!! YES! That's what I wanted to hear! It will be strange to have a roller coaster that will be 10x better than anything in the park (except Drop Tower!). I'll be riding that thing SO much! This coaster's going to be SICK! Thanks for the info, James! EDIT: Ignore me for seeming to jump to conclusions really fast. I'm just in a really good mood right now.

Yeah. All the footers on the right side in those pics are definitely for the lift hill. If you notice, as each pair goes on, they spread a little bit, along with single footers to further support track between each set of two. Anybody understand? I sound VERY nerdy I know, but that's just how I am. I (along with many others) am REALLY looking forward to this coaster!

Hey guys. I've got a small update. I went to KI yesterday, and had a great day! It rained a LOT that morning, and it was COLD. Then the rain cleared, and was completely clear the rest of the day, and it warmed up quite a bit. I met up with Zach, too! onto the pics... Shout out to Zach for meeting up with me. Thanks man! (that's all folks) International Street. It started to rain pretty hard shortly after this was taken. New gate sign. Action Zone from parking lot. For those who haven't seen it yet, this is the new road sign.

Yeah, I like them, too. It gives a nice surprise for the people in the backseat. Think about it. You can't see the drop in front. You get spooked by the pre-drop, relax, then WOAH! big drop!!! It gives the train an opportunity to have some good speed down the drop. Just a quick heads up. I'm headed to KI this weekend, and hope to get some pics and post them. It will be interesting seeing all the changes.

^You know what's funny is that I had JUST started thinking about riding stand-ups right around the time King Cobra was taken out. I wanted to ride it, but missed out each time I was near it in its last operating year (2001 I believe). Back to the new coaster talk, I would LOVE if they had a speeding-through-the-woods section as close to the ground as possible. I really hope they take advantage of the hilly terrain back there.

JZ's Six Flags Over Georgia Photo TR!
SFOGdude25 replied to PKI Jizzman's topic in Theme Parks, Roller Coasters, & Donkeys!
Ahh, SFOG. Headed down there sometime in June, hopefully. IMO, the back car is recommended for most of the coasters! Here's why: Georgia Cyclone: You get a nice whip effect on the 1st drop, and CRAZY ejector air on the 4th drop! Georgia Scorcher: Has good airtime on the first drop. It's a little weird, but it's awesome! Dehlonega Mine Train: It's just more enjoyable. Canyon Blaster: Get some nice g's around the turns and drops. Superman: doesn't really matter, Just ride as soon as possible before it gets a huge crowd. GASM: Nice floater air on all the hills and drops. Avoid the very back seat. Ninja: Most enjoyable and least painful on 1st bench of back car. Batman: I'll make an exeption for this coaster. Go for the front! The back is too intense g wise. Mind Bender: This is a g-force machine! You get the most of airtime, laterals, AND positive g's in the back. It's amazing! Goliath: back recommended for the 1st drop. My stomach goes bye-bye on that drop in the back every time! As far as flat rides go, I definitely recommend Acrophobia, and Gotham City Crime Wave! SFOG is the best park in the six flags chain scenery wise. There are several shady areas in the park to just chill in, so while your there, don't rush to get on all the rides. Take time to just enjoy the park itself, too. I hope you have a great time! -
Cedar Point - Photo TR - 7.29.07-7.30.07

Very Nice Pics! Thanks for the TR. This only makes me more excited for CoasterMania 2008! It'll be my first time at the event. Anybody else here going? -
I'll comment on the Kings Island media page. WOW! Has any amusement park done something like this? What a great way to advertise the park! The thing I like the most: It's ALL Kings Island footage (or at least thats what I assume)! I was very impressed. Even though some of the footage is old (SOB had old trains, FoF had OTSR trains, etc.), but still. Check this page out! Kudos to Kings Island for still being a Coca-Cola park!

SFOG TR - April 11th SF Spring Break
SFOGdude25 replied to NINCUB's topic in Photo Trip Report Archive
GA Cyclone was retracked this year. Mainly on that 3rd drop. Notice the lack of paint. I'm really glad that drop was retracked. I was watching a vid with GC's 3rd drop included, and I noticed a really bad shift in the track right there. That's no longer there. Nice pics by the way! Can't wait for the 2nd set. -
You might be a roller coaster fanatic if...
SFOGdude25 replied to BarryH's topic in Theme Parks, Roller Coasters, & Donkeys!
Man. This thread is too good. I am guilty of several of these. ...You want to apply to work at Cedar Point even though you live 9 hours away. (guilty) CP does have employee dorms. ...You show up at the front gate 3 hours before opening just to have peace-and-quiet time by yourself. -
Nice. Going for a classic retro look. I really hope that Racer will be nice and smooth this year. I've had some rides that were downright painful (Most were on the old forward side). It would be really great if the park could paint Racer back to its original colors. It was so pretty back then! Speaking of which. Has any painted woodie been repainted before? I've never heard of any cases.

Mindbender LOVE
SFOGdude25 replied to CoasterComet's topic in Theme Parks, Roller Coasters, & Donkeys!
Nice thread here! Yep I remember Mind Bender looking like that when I was going to the park in my REALLY early years (ages 1-5). Sometimes I wish it still looked liked that. It could work as more of a MINE Bender if it was still brown. Kind of like Mystery Mine of the 70's! That would be really sweet! -
What's wrong with Mean Streak?
SFOGdude25 replied to dammie16@vt.edu's topic in Theme Parks, Roller Coasters, & Donkeys!
Mean Streak is pretty fun in the front seat. That is probably the best bet for smoothness. It also gives you a nice visual experience being completely surrounded by wood. Other than that, It is pretty forceless and boring. -
Photo AND Video TR: Opening Day at SFOG!
SFOGdude25 replied to Scaparri's topic in Photo Trip Report Archive
Nice pics man! I have to comment on the fact that I'm SO glad that GA Cyclone got retracked over the off-season. I have liked that coaster a LOT even though it was rough. Through all that roughness was a fun coaster (you just have to sit in the right place for that good ride). Now its smooth!? That will make for one good woodie. I can't wait to come back! See you in May, SFOG!!! -
Cedar Point or Kings Island?
SFOGdude25 replied to NINCUB's topic in Theme Parks, Roller Coasters, & Donkeys!
Kings Island Here's why. Cedar Point: You go for roller coasters. Kings Island: You Go For Family Fun. At Kings Island, the coaster selection is okay. Sure it doesn't match the level of CP, but there are some fun ones. My personal favorites are Top Gun, Adventure Express, Racer, Flight of Fear, and The Beast. Also, KI is more of a family park. If your just looking for a fun day at a park, KI is the place to go. It has some AWESOME flat rides: Delirium, Drop Zone, The Crypt. Also, the water park is great, though small. The main reason people don't like KI too much is because of the coaster selection, but look past that, and you've got yourself a great park. Trust me, you WILL have a lot of fun from opening to closing. -
The Official "TPR MidWest USA 2007" Trip Thread!
SFOGdude25 replied to robbalvey's topic in Photo Trip Report Archive
I had my absolute best ride on the Beast in that exact circumstance. Picture this: The Beast at night. It just rained. Only about 8 people on the ride. It was FOGGY!!!!! Riding the Beast in fog is a crazy rush I wil never forget! One of the most INCREDIBLE experiences EVER!!!! -
Coaster Expedition & Other DVD Reviews!
SFOGdude25 replied to arrowfanman's topic in Theme Parks, Roller Coasters, & Donkeys!
Roller Coasters IN THE RAW!!! ***** 5 out of 5 stars!!! This DVD is awesome! A POV provided with every single scene, and more amazing offride footage! No music, no sound effects, no NOTHIN! Just raw coaster footage, which is the best kind! It makes you feel more like your there! Thank you, Robb! I couldn't be more happy! I am really looking forward to CE Vol. 9! -

Thanks again guys! Just a quick heads up on what's coming in my TPR future. I'm planning on making a VIDEO trip report (if possible) on my next trip, which is going to be BIG. My dad and I are planning a trip to several parks around the Midwest/East Coast/Southern United States! Parks will include: Wisconsin Dells area Six Flags Great America Cedar Point Six Flags Great Adventure Six Flags Over Georgia Universal Orlando and mabye Busch Gardens Africa. My only question right now is if I have to put this TR in the videographer forum, or this forum. Anybody have an answer?
