  1. I'll definitely have to check out the event then! Sounds great!
  2. Boy this ride looks great! I still can't get over how great that drop looks! This is going to be one great and exciting ride!
  3. My favorite thing on Pitt Fall was the long view all the way down to the river and over to Braddock. The best view from a drop tower. Has anyone gone to the Christmas event? I'm wondering if I should shell out the money for it.
  4. That is what I thought until I rode Conneaut Blue Streak. Wait until you ride a ride that is literally falling apart. When I rode Blue Streak the turn around the train literally felt like it was going to break off the track.
  5. South of the Border is cheesy awesomeness. It is a great delirious stop after a 10 hour ride. It makes 2 hours interesting too with all of the billboards. Classic Roadside Americana.
  6. Conneaut, hands down. It looks like those North Korean Parks. Maybe my opinion would have changed if I rode the flyers, but I was rushed for time.
  7. Have you ever felt like you had a near death experience on a coaster? The only time I literally felt unsafe on a coaster was on the turn around on the Conneaut Blue Streak. I rode it the second weekend it was open last year. That has to be my least favorite classic coaster.
  8. When was this rumor? Is this pre or post park sale?
  9. Jaws hurts, Hercules really hit me hard because I grew up with that ride.
  10. Leviathan with Skyrush in 2nd (although skyrush I'll be more likely to ride). Then Wild Eagle or X-Flight.
  11. I'd imagine a lot, the teens who read the books when they were new are only in their 20s right now and still fanatic about it. Harry Potter right now is still extremely popular with the middle school crowd. I don't see Harry Potter dying out any time soon.
  12. I don't see how a Zamperla ride would be more reliable than a Huss ride. When I worked at Dorney Park they had constantly had to be in contact with Zamperla regarding Meteor and other zamperla rides that I cannot think of at this moment.
  13. Them taking out all of the classics is outrageous! First Ghostbusters then King Kong, then BTTF, now Jaws?!?!? I remember when I was 6 being one of the test riders on Jaws. I find it really upsetting that they have gotten rid of everything now pretty much except for ET. Twister, The Mummy and the Simpsons, have nothing on Ghostbusters, King Kong and Back to the Future as far as cultural relevance. I don't understand how Universal could not get creative in making attractions for their newer franchises while preserving the great movie rides they already had.
  14. ^I did not mean to say it like that, I was rushed and did not get to refine my word choice. I meant minimal difference as far as quality. In their own rights they are in the top tier, B&M Hypers for Floater Airtime and Smooth transitions, alot like flying, as opposed to Intamin Violent Ejector Air and quick transitions. I love both in their own right. I think it is like comparing apples and oranges.
  15. As much as I like the extreme turn transitions on Maverick or I305 or what not, I don't find alot of difference between them and that crappy transition on Anaconda. But I really think between B&M Hypers and Intense Intamin rides there is minimal difference. I'd bet the Amusement park operators or more inclined to put in B&Ms because they are much more reliable.
  16. I actually rank Diamondback over Nitro. But I'll state again, comparing a b&m hyper with the el toro's of the world or even older b&m inverts is like comparing apples and oranges. I see Alvey's point on the newer b&ms like Hydra or Silver Bullet, but not with the Hypers. The car equivalent as far as comfort level between a B&m Hyper and a choppy transition Intamin like I305, the end of toro or Skyrush is the difference between a smooth riding cadillac and a Geo Prizm, not that there is a problem with that but a big smooth riding smooth transition ride is what a B&M hyper offers. I'm not meaning to diss the intense Intamin rides, but I really like both equally. B&M hypers are about a fun, smooth ride filled with floater airtime and smooth transitions.
  17. I like that though. I'm colorblind when it comes to airtime . Diamondback is to Floater air as El Toro is to Ejector air.
  18. Makes me as a Pennsylvanian wish that Demon Drop went to Knotts instead!!!
  19. What's wrong with Diamondback? That is a top notch stellar ride Sure, if you think a boring, repetitive, cookie cutter, and forceless ride = "top notch." Tell ya what, you go ride Expedition G-Force, Walibi's Goliath, T Express, Balder, Kawasemi, Colossos, and El Toro, and then come back and tell me how top notch Diamondback is, ok? That is like comparing apples and oranges. Diamondback is all about relaxing floater air, as opposed to violent ejector air (which I enjoy equally). It feels like you are flying smoothly on Diamondback and I enjoy that. I like the B&M Hyper Genre.
  20. What's wrong with Diamondback? That is a top notch stellar ride. And as far as BGW, wouldn't a GCI be a great family addition instead?
  21. I'll go with Verbolten. I'd say stinger for worst addition but it isn't at a point where it is overrated.
  22. That is pretty awesome! You have such a wealth of great old amusement park material.
  23. Thank you guys! I know the period was prolific on anything related to amusement. I have heard of Louis Armstrong and Duke Ellington playing the old dance shells and dance floors at amusement parks, but I cannot find a single picture. This is my next hard task. Anyone have any leads on that? Or photos of people dancing at dance floors in back then in general?
  24. Ok so I am planning out a lesson for a high school history class. I need to know a ballpark figure on how many roller coasters were built in the 1920's. Does anyone know?
  25. Good Point I still really like the color scheme.
