  1. Hey when it was built it was on the more intense side of things. I have a soft spot in my heart for Dorney because it was my homepark growing up. I rode Steel Force so many times in a row as an employee (Talon too). Steel Force is just so relaxing to me. It is really like meditation, no outrageous thrills but it clears my mind and is scenic and relaxing.
  2. Is there an example of a coaster that has footers placed into an area with flowing water on this scale? Anaconda and Raven are in still water areas.
  3. For me, I could ride Steel Force all day. It is smooth and relaxing. Not a care in the world when riding Steel Force. It is like a relaxing Sunday drive to me.
  4. 1. Phoenix 2. Ravine Flyer 3. Jack Rabbit (Kennywood) 4. Beast 5. El Toro
  5. I'm sure of it too. I just wonder how much of a continual beating these footers can take from these high waters. I wonder how much, if any, continual work will need to be done to preserve the integrity of the ride. I think along the lines of the continual welding necessary to be done on the Impulse coasters or of that type of nature.
  6. I'm concerned about the integrity of those footers. They have been flooded out numerous times while they were being constructed and it is in swamp land.
  7. Then wouldn't leviathan have a Stengel Dive because it doesn't go all the way back around?
  8. Cedar Point wins out in overall quality of rides. Magic Mountain does not have any top 10 caliber rides. Cedar Point has Millennium Force, Raptor, Magnum, Maverick and Dragster. Going to Cedar Point is like going on vacation, it is in a gorgeous setting with great rides.
  9. My top 5 beemers since I am apparently a b&m fanboy 1. Raptor 2. Diamondback 3. Dominator 4. Nitro 5. Talon
  10. Kinda funny how you wrote Formula Rossa and Fahrenheit, when you were clearly talking about Maverick and I305.. Go back a couple pages, I first said Mav and I305 and then someone mentioned Rossa and Fahrenheit and I mentioned them afterwards.
  11. I remember reading or seeing the interview back in 2008 with him saying that it would be unlikely that he would put in large new attractions due to the changes in political leadership. I remember that comment taking my by surprise and the mapping out of additions supports his political thinking. I've been trying to find the interview but I can't find it. I found this though http://www.campaignmoney.com/political/contributions/richard-kinzel.asp?cycle=08
  12. There was an interview from around 2008 that said something along the lines of "due to the changing political climate it is unlikely there will be major additions." These major additions happened to be in Republican areas.
  13. I'm talking more along the lines of I305 and Maverick track removal. I like Intamin, I was just commenting on how their engineering is not as solid as B&Ms as far as ride malfunctions and redesigns.
  14. Notice how the parks in Democratic areas have not gotten new coasters since 2007-2008? Cedar Point, Michigan's Adventure, Dorney Park, Great America, Valleyfair and Knotts have not received any brand new coasters and how the parks in Republican areas, King's Island, Kings Dominion and Worlds of Fun have? I recall Kinzel saying something politically related about additions back in 2008, I'd bet this contributes to Cedar Point's coaster drought.
  15. Fahrenheit, iSpeed, Formula Rossa, Cheetah Hunt, and a number of Megalites would take umbrage at that assessment. Well Formula Rossa is trimmed to death and Fahrenheit is lousy and valleyed on its first run.
  16. It wouldn't shock me though, look at their track record lately with I305 and Maverick. I'll be interested to see how it plays out.
  17. I wonder how many times Intamin is going to need to alter the track of the drop and first turn.
  18. That drop would be good on its own! It isn't even done yet!
  19. That could be a gold mine if they did that. I can picture how great it would be.
  20. Psychiatric help 5 cents, just in time for Christmas!
  21. They just put in Windseeker. You complain the park isn't getting anything new. Dorney technically hasn't gotten any thrill rides brand new since 2005. Random question, does Knotts do anything with Charlie Brown Christmas? I see a lot of potential with that.
  22. I think they could make it really fit in with the founders circle theme there, maybe put in those faux roof things with big clear bulbs on them, maybe some lattice work like on the Racer at Kennywood. They could rework the station a little bit. I think it would make it seem more classic.
  23. I wouldn't mind if they ran the entrance through the exit area. It would tuck the line away and into a much more scenic area. I always thought that queue line could have been placed better. I never noticed until the summer how pretty the view is on the exit path. It would have nice views of Skyrush too.
  24. I'm confused as to why they have been so vague with the footprint.
  25. The manufacturer specifies a minimum height by way of their calculations and liability. The parks generally take the same height requirement or go higher. If they go lower, the manufacturer ends up not being liable if there is an incident. An example would be with Knoebel's and PTC. Since Knoebels took out the seatbelts for PTC, PTC will not supply to the park. Cedar Fair won't go below 48 inches on a major coaster, whereas many places with Wood Coasters or mine trains will have the height at 42 inches.
