^ They are already going to weekend only ops in a couple of weeks, and no fastlane for sale, so if you want to go mid week, you need to do that now.

Grand Carnivale was definitely already scrapped for 2020. They (Cedar Fair) canceled all those events at all parks right when the shut downs first started. As I recall, I thought something was said that if seasonal parks can't open by July 15, they will not open in 2020, as they needed a certain amount of operating days to be worth their while.

Also, I would suggest reviewing what is open before you plan....the original park, I think the part that uses the river water, is closed until further notice, so only part of the New Braunfels park is operational this summer. July lists TBD. Depending on how far you are traveling, this may affect you going.

You can use your Platinum Pass, but the system has not yet been converted over to Cedar Fair's. I didn't have luck either, but I did read on their page somewhere that their systems have not been converted so you have to call or contact them. We were going to stay at the resort, and since they are only allowing one visit from pass holders, it seemed a way around it, if you are staying on site and willing to pay, is to pay a little more for the stay and play package that guarantees tickets each day you are in the resort, starting with the next day of the overnight stay (ie. Tuesday if you check in Monday.). In principal it doesn't seem we should have to pay, but on the other hand, to come all that way and only be allowed in once, I figured I should just pay the upcharge. It isn't very much and the rooms are relatively cheap from "usual" pricing.

Several of the items are brand new, meant to be launched at this year's 2020 festival. The Cake Batter Cookies, the type of Beef Jerky chips, the hot sauce, salad dressing and licorice, are some of the brand new items. And I hear more is still to come on-line, so keep checking back.

I would recommend staying at the WOF Village at a cabin or cottage. That makes all the difference to me. I've been several times this season, and like you, as a Platinum Passholder (with the dining plan), it makes it very affordable. The new Cottom Blossom and new food offerings are very good. They have an entrance on the Oceans of Fun side, which, depending on when you were last there, is now one big park instead of separate ones. I find it very nice to just leave the car parked and walk to the Oceans entrance from the Village and walk back at the end of the night. In my opinion, WOF is a very underrated Cedar Fair park. The landscaping is beautiful, it is very relaxing, Oceans is one of the best waterparks I've been to anywhere, not just Missouri, its rarely crowded, and you get a good workout to boot with the terrain. You gotta be in good shape to navigate it, ha ha, just like SDC.

Also Gary, to my recollection, the CapEx numbers revealed have always been for the attraction type announcement and large projects such as hotels, in the 20 years following the company. It's never included other improvements, such as what you are mentioning, and general infrastructure improvements such as new bathrooms, paving of the midways, etc. I don't know how that is budgeted for, but it seems to be accounted for separately. So if they were doing the berm for VF, it would most likely be separate. Didn't they say something on the call about this being a light cap ex year to get their debt back under a certain ratio, which elevated from the Sawmill and Schlitterbahn purchases, but that things would be higher next year in 2021? That's what I recall hearing.

^^^ You're forgetting they announced they were spending $15 to $20 million getting Schlitterbahn up to their "standards". Then there is the renovations at Sawmill Creek. And no figure was given for the KBF and CP celebrations and what that entails. Generally, the budget is allocated at 9% of revenue, but it's been a little higher in the past few years. You have to look (guess of course, because per park numbers are not available), as to how much revenue Valleyfair! brings in. We know that 50% of the company is CP and KBF, so it makes sense the most capital is allocated there. The remaining 50% is the other 9 parks. We know, based on attendance, that KI, CW and CAR are larger parks, and WOF, KD, and CAR have accommodations which drive revenue, so how much do VF and MiA really bring in? Valleyfair! is a great park, and yes, you must spend money to make money, but there is a reason for the soft cap ex. Personally, I'd love to see a campground and cabin set up there, to drive in some extra revenue that can later be put back in the park.

You mean Chicken to Go right? It's basically the same hours? 9 pm when park closes at 6 pm. Sometimes the bakery seems to close at 8 pm, and during the off season the Mrs. Knott's Bakery Express (old Cinnabon) and Cable Car Kitchen stay closed all week. During spring break and summer, they will be open daily.

The outside California Marketplace is generally open until 9 pm, (and that includes CDR), UNLESS the park is open later, than much of it closes one hour AFTER the park closes. The exception to this is Scary Farm, when they still close at 9, except for Starbucks, Cable Car Kitchen and Virginia's, which stay open for Scary Farm crowds leaving the park, AND when the park closes early due to rain, in which case much of the Marketplace (this year at least) closes about 5 pm. CDR is quite a large space. My guess is since no reservations are needed after the park closes during the off season, they just make no reservations an option, since you will walk in and be seated immediately.

Actually, Cedar Fair is the franchisee for the Marriott hotel at Carowinds, and will be paying to build it, will operate it, and will reap any profits. It is not a lease agreement with another entity.

It'll be pretty expensive. It's about 26 miles from downtown to Buena Park, and then factor in traffic on the 5. You're getting in late, so this may not work, but you can also switch from Amtrak at Union Station to take a Metrolink southbound and get off in Buena Park, not Fullerton. I've taken the train many times. Once I took Uber from Union Station to Fullerton. That was about $50. I believe Uber used to have deals if you left from Union Station which made it cheaper than getting picked up elsewhere in Los Angeles.

^^ The Log Ride at Knott's has always been the most popular ride in the park. Of course, it is heavily themed too.

Keep in mind for CGA, they were supposed to get a Marketplace concept outside the park, similar to what Knott's has had forever.

^^ Cedar Point and Knott's both have sit down Johnny Rockets too. Knott's has Ghost Town Grill as a sit down restaurants, for years...since like the 1940's. And of course outside the park is the Chicken Dinner Restaurant and TGIF. Cedar Point also has sit down restaurants directly outside park gates, such as Famous Dave's, Tomo Hibachi, TGIF, and Perkins.

Virginia's is not becoming a restaurant. It is staying a gift shop, as the "main exit" store. More likely is Cinnabon or TGIF may leave. And don't forget there is still the empty building next to Starbucks, where the bathrooms are located.

No, the services actually lasted until a few years ago (after it was moved near Soak City and Silver Bullet constructed.) I used to attend there. When it was inside the park, you just told them you were there for the services and they let you in. I went to a 9/11 memorial there I'm 2001, when it was still in the park, for example. The picnic/catering facilities were announced to be re-done. While KBF wasn't cited by name, a prior conference call stated that more parks would have their redone. We know WOF, CP, VF, CGA and a few others have already redone theirs, so through process of elimination we can assume KBF. Also, KBF's date from a long time ago. That overhead structure was once inside the park on the Boardwalk when it was Knott Headz.
