This park is visually stunning, especially at night. -

The area looks incredible but that's my main concern. Hopefully that area doesn't bottleneck, I'm guessing the foot traffic won't be too crazy, but that's not a lot of space. Or at least, it doesn't appear to be from the webcam. -

Tony being Tony. Everything seems to catch on like wildfire, especially minor markings, so Tony says "Let's give them something to talk about..." and it worked. -

Seriously, it's a very fun ride!! It's my fourth favorite coaster in the park, and it's a people eater! Can't believe someone would say "skip Mantis... and GateKeeper!". It isn't I305 or Maverick, but it was never meant to be. -

We all believe the park will be going with a new Water Park expansion. It's logical based on some of the recent additions / removals. The water park is also extremely popular, so any addition will be welcomed by a vast majority of guests. garyman6 - GateKeeper is a nice coaster. It's beautiful, forceful at times (bottom of first drop), is quite different than everything else at Cedar Point (or Valleyfair), and like most B&M's, it is a people eater. Honestly, I'd be happy with either an invert or winged coaster. By all accounts, Banshee sounds like a fantastic addition to Kings Island. Like everyone else, I too believe a B&M will be the next addition. -

^ That height restriction doesn't necessarily apply to the entire park. I read an interview on Valleyfairzone where that was discussed when mentioning the possibility of adding Windseeker. Cedar Fair is not against adding a similar type attraction if they prove successful, Canada's Wonderland is a prime example. If we are really concerned about cost, Banshee was 25 million, GateKeeper was more expensive. Valleyfair could always look towards Premier rides for a cheaper alternative. I doubt VF picks up an Intamin, but cost isn't the reason why. There's all those rumors about Cedar Fair and Intaride having a falling out. -

So true. I also hope it is an invert especially after the good reviews of Banshee and that it is actually forceful in places. I know it would not be as big but a scaled down version would be perfect. Remove a loop and a turn or two and I would be thrilled. If they go B&M hopefully it is not a wing rider, it is not what this park needs even though I am sure it would be a hit with the GP but we already have enough low force rides. GateKeeper isn't a "low" force ride. It's quite potent in certain spots, specifically at the bottom of the first drop. I actually prefer the coaster to Raptor, even if it's a little less intense (the final helix on Raptor <3 ). My rankings at Cedar Point probably go Maverick, Dragster, Millenium, GateKeeper, Raptor. For Valleyfair, I'd much rather have some sort of Intamin like Maverick than either an Invert or Winged Coaster. I'd probably take a B&M Hyper / Giga too. The general public will eat up any of those new additions, as any of them would easily be the best coaster in the state. -

^ Finally we will be able to go under some "coaster" track at Cedar Point. Glad that area of the park is finally being upgraded. It used to be so bland, and now it's going to be beaming with two fun family friendly rides, and one giant slingshot. -

That was one of the most exciting constructions to follow, because you had no idea what kind of coaster was coming to Cedar Point. Maverick seemed so out of character. -

Please just burn it down and replace it with something new, wood or steel. -
I've been on GateKeeper and I thought it was a very good roller coaster. I'd have it in my top 5 at Cedar Point without question. The first drop is pretty forceful, going through the keyholes a second time slowly was disorienting, and I enjoy the feeling of being on the side of a track instead of over or under it. Add in the brand new entrance at the park, the beautiful view of one of the great lakes, and it's capacity... Those things make it a great addition to Cedar Point. Part of me hopes they go B&M with the next coaster too, because of the reliability and capacity. Nothing I hate more than waiting in the Maverick line. Skipped out on a trip to ride X-Flight since Winged coasters aren't something I'd center a trip around, but I plan on going back to Great America this year to get some credits on X-Flight and Goliath.

Whoops, I didn't realize he said without touching it. I'd rather burn that ride to the ground and redo the entire area. -

You could probably fit an entire themed area with a new RMC woodie inside Mean Streak without even touching it! Do that, and Cedar Point jumps up a few notches in my book. The next big addition should be back there, if for no other reason than to get rid of Mean Streak... and also disperse the crowd away from Maverick a little bit. -

Honestly, GateKeeper is one of my favorite coasters in the park. It's unlike anything else there, it has great capacity, and it's visually stunning. The back left seat is actually pretty intense, and I love the way it yanks you over each of the hills. On the way back it slows down quite a bit, which is a unique sensation in itself. It's not Maverick but I thought it was a great addition to the park. -

GateKeeper and Raptor are two rides that I would recommend riding later in the day. Both rides will be packed to the brim in the morning since they are right out front. Maverick will likely be the longest wait of the day/night, so I recommend getting in line right before closing and also during the ERT. Dragster and Millenium will both likely have a pretty big line as well, but since the other coasters have a short line, you should get quite a few rides in with or without fast lane +. -

Someone correct me if I'm wrong, but Inta-Ride is made in the US, similar to the way B&M does it. -

I've been on all three of the US wingriders, and in my opinion X-Flight is still the best, Gatekeeper is in the middle, and Wild Eagle is third. They're all good coasters, but they rank just outside my top 35 or so steel coasters. They are still fantastic additions to their respective parks, they're beautiful/graceful, and the general public loves them. Haven't been on GateKeeper yet, but I'd be disappointed if X-Flight is better. Someone else told me GateKeeper blows it out of the water. Have you reviewed X-Flight or GateKeeper? I'd love to read them so I could get a more detailed comparison. -
And none of them made Robb's list. Let's get back on topic here as my point wasn't to take a shot at Cedar Point's lineup (I actually have Millennium Force and TTD in my top 10) but to show that there are a TON of better coasters out there in the world and until you have been on more of them, don't be shocked if you home park doesn't show up on the more experienced enthusiasts' list. It's a tough list to make, Robb has been on a ridiculous amount of coasters. Just saying your assessment of quantity over quality wasn't necessarily correct. We don't see Cedar Point putting in mediocre coasters. A few years back, maybe, but not anymore.
-
I can't agree with this. Cedar Point might not succeed at making world class coasters each time, but they definitely attempt to make coasters that are among the best in the world. Maverick, Millenium Force, Top Thrill Dragster, Raptor, and GateKeeper are all top of the line coasters. Each attempting to be the BEST of their kind, at the time they were built. This was an incredibly diverse list, with quite a few coasters I've never even heard of. Can't wait to visit some parks outside of the US, as it looks like I've been missing out.

For those at the park today, how were the lines for Wicked Twister? It used to be my go to coaster for a potential walk on. I'm guessing those days are gone. -
