  1. "It was like a fiesta in my throat" has me cracking up! I saw The Awakening and then Dead Man's Party or whatever they called it. Thought the Dead Man show was excellent but holy crap some of the firework bangs were outrageously loud. The actors did a really nice job and the costumes were great. I had no idea they were actually singing, for at least some of the songs, until close to the end.
  2. I think it a sense they'd have to re-do some of Frontier Town due to the location of the entrance of NMS causing a bottleneck as is. I was on Team 2018 for a while but seeing how fast they're tearing down specific pieces of the ride and parts of RMC track on site had me voting for 2017. Either way I'll be there enjoying the heck out of the park! Completely unrelated: I do wish they had mozzarella sticks at more locations. Even one more stand would be great as the only one that has them is next to Iron Dragon.
  3. What's Zoolights? I'll most certainly be going to HITP both at SFGAdv when I'm up in that area and SFA since it's so close. If SFA's HITP is half as fantastic as GAdv's then it'll be a massive win! The park has steadily improved over the last 5-6 years and I do truly hope they continue the trend.
  4. ^Sucks about your car but a big win for finally getting on I-305!!! Make it happen!
  5. TyRush - wowza, thanks for those awesome pictures!!! Super exciting!!
  6. Just as it seemed like we finally put this conversion topic to bed for a while it popped back up like some sort of jacked up Frankenstein. Whatever it is they're doing, I'm definitely losing interest with the various teaser pics and vids KD's putting out on the topic. CP's done similar teasers but not to the lengths KD's gone and at least there's exciting and interesting things happening with Mean Streak. Creating a stupid video and beating a SBNO Hurler to a pulp is old news.
  7. The app with coupons says its 5 bucks off per person, so 10 off a 2 person flash pass, 15 off a 3 person, etc. It says valid anytime in 2017 though but doesn't hurt to try getting the discount. Jumping in to ask if all the 2017 season pass coupons are online or via the app? In the past I've gotten one of those little booklets but when we got our pass upgraded Wednesday for next year they didn't give us anything. It wasn't even on my radar until I was driving home. Perhaps they haven't come up with the 2017 discounts yet? Thoughts??
  8. I've been having issues with booking on the website too. I wondered if they did that crap where they won't allow you to book X months in advance like one of my favorite ski places does. I prefer to book as soon as I know my dates which sometimes is a year or more in advance. You'd think companies would be all over it but nope. Didn't feel like calling and after trying multiple times online I never got it resolved for CP so let me know if you figure it out!
  9. Exciting pictures! It's a lot of fun watching what's going on with Mean Streak by seeing the crane on site and deconstruction happening bit by bit.
  10. Volcano is like TTD - quite touchy and you never know when it's going to break down. And the ride cycle on The Crypt is insane. Tough luck on Grizzly! I had the same exact thing happen to me on it about 4 years ago and I swore I'd never ride it again. I don't care if it's in the woods and "an oldie but a goodie" because I seriously thought I had a broken rib. It's just not worth it and I'd rather use my time to take another spin on Drop Tower, Lumber Co or Volcano.
  11. October 12th is Yom Kippur. Public schools in most of NJ and all of NYC have school off. Correct. Expect mild to moderate lines and the place should clear out in the early evening. El Toro's back to 2 train operation thankfully and knowing how they can chew through that line is the only thing that really matters, let's be honest. Several people on the forum happen to be going that day. See you there perhaps!
  12. ^Love that view, thanks for posting a screen shot of it.
  13. ^Loops and corkscrews are definitely not my thing but Anaconda's actually pretty great, IMO. It's above a lake which bumps its rating up a few notches for sure. No more excuses, get off 95 and enjoy the park!
  14. When I was there for SCarowinds a couple weeks ago when they were having the riots the place was an absolute ghost town. Makes sense for them to close tonight whether the weather slams them or not as the storms will certainly impact who may, and in this case may not, attend. Prozach did you get down there yet? I forget what weekend you are/were going.
  15. Chiming in with some of the other people to say that fanny packs are indeed allowed on all rides except for The Joker and El Toro. Sometimes in the evening or if it's really dead they'll let you put loose articles on the side of Toro's station but absolutely nothing can be taken on The Joker. Hey JRice were you successful on that t-shirt mission?
  16. Part 1 is off to a great start! Anxiously awaiting more, and Bill your Canadian TR wasn't as terrible as you'd like to think it was so get writing!
  17. I had some crazy ass rides on PR in the front row last summer right after a torrential downpour and it was the most balls to the wall outrageously wild ride on any coaster anywhere. After making 2 trips to Carowinds this year just to ride Fury and the flyers, well, to rank PR above Fury I imagine your rides on PR were as out of this world as mine were!! Congrats and now you'll spend the rest of your life going "holy $hit that coaster was unbelievable!!! But that one time on PR..." LOL. The first picture you posted is seriously fantastic.
  18. My thoughts exactly!! Keep spilling the beans, Yin... We won't tell anybody
  19. True. The park is a half day park at best, and that's only because there's not much to do and the operations are terrible. (Un)Fortunately I live nearby and don't really have to go out of my way to visit. This summer is the first time I actually rode a flyer anywhere and was introduced to snapping so now I'm hooked!
  20. I must have missed this. Which park is getting a condor?! The only condor news I know about is Hershey taking theirs out for a smaller version of Power Tower. While a bunch of new coasters would obviously be awesome, 2017 seems to be taking a different route and that's cool too. I haven't ridden a Justice League but am excited for that at SFGAdv. The closest I've been on is KD's Boo Blasters and BGW's DarKastle which are both fun when they're actually working properly. However, I'd give up 2 years of any ride additions whatsoever if it meant SFGAdv would make their bathrooms a bit nicer. Same for some of KD and CP's bathrooms especially the one by Skyhawk. At those and other parks I'd like another tarp or two put up in certain queue lines, maybe some more benches put around, and trees/flowers. Sprucing the place up here and there goes a long way and I'm hoping that'll be some of the case for 2017. If there aren't any new large coasters announced in the next couple months it'll make for a more boring/quiet off-season here for sure, but that doesn't mean I won't still enjoy the chat on TPR. We were able to go to Carowinds for the first time this year, twice, to try out Fury and next year will get to Dollywood for the first time when LR is hopefully running more consistently. SO has never been to Kennywood and we may stop there. I'll be going to SFMM for the first time in 17 years in March. Sometimes not having a major new hotness means a less packed park and/or trying out other places you haven't been before like someone else mentioned. Either way, I enjoy the speculation!
  21. Wowza! Thanks to nanner and Samuel for posting pics of Kennywood and drawings of the potential elements.
  22. Boldikus: Volcano in the front all the way!! Definitely worth the wait. Super unique and smooth, but short like Storm Runner. Any coaster that has a launch or a lot of speed is a front seat ride must! I usually like the 2nd to last row on I-305 but I was at the park a few weeks ago and was able to practically walk on I-305 in the front and LOVED it. Very different sensation than in the back and the wind in your hair can't be beat. Anaconda I like in the first half of the train, front of a car and keep your head all the way forward the entire time. Those corkscrews are something else! Just like coasterbill has the Mean Streak trick, I have a trick for I-305 so you don't grey out. At the bottom of the first hill when you do the massive right hand turn to the airtime hill, squeeze the absolute hell out of your butt cheeks. Clench harder than you've ever done before! I was told it's what fighter pilots do to keep the blood in the upper half of their body. Works on any ride with a helix as well but I-305 it's an absolute must for me. I also recommend resisting the urge to hop back in like and instead taking a few minutes to sit on a bench between rides because multiple in a row on it can suddenly wear you out for the rest of the day. Going clockwise around the park from the front: Hit up Berserker (upside down pirate ship) and Dominator, Scooby Doo Coaster which I think is called Woodstock somethingorother now. It's the blue wooden kiddie coaster but a lot of fun. KD has an excellent Boo Blasters on Boo Hill setup (near Dominator/Snoopyland) and everything actually works so hit that up too, it's a little bit hidden though. None of the effects on Stunt Coaster are working but it's a zippy little thing and very smooth so hit it up. In the middle of the park: Drop Tower is a must. I love Bad Apple as well. Delirium is a huge disappointment compared to Black Widow or even MaxAir. Rebel Yell is fun like Blue Streak at CP but one side is smoother than the other... I can't remember which at the moment though, sorry. Take away 10 points from me if you need to. There's a cool wild maus hidden between Rebel Yell and Hurler with the entrance right next to Hurler. People seem to like Windseeker but the line takes forever and the view is crap compared to CP. Log flume, of course, and the Eiffel Tower is really fun and you can get a great view of I-305 hauling the entire course from up there. You better make a TR with lots of pics!!
  23. DRobbins that's really neat to know, thanks for sharing that with us! Never thought I'd get a mini education about wasps on a roller coaster forum but I like it.
