  1. Superman would greatly benefit from line tickets as well. Every time I ride it there are major issues with groups of thugs pushing their way through which always ends in an altercation.
  2. Woohoo! It said TC earlier so that's great that it's back up. Can you buy the unlimited time saver passes online? I'm admittedly not the best at navigating websites sometimes but I don't see the option to. I can purchase season passes or multi-day tickets but that's it.
  3. Fun topic, I'll play. From what I have ridden, here is a list of the top 3 qualifiers with the rest in no particular order: Big Bad Wolf Expedition Everest Phantom’s Revenge Joker’s Jinx Avalanche Carolina Goldrusher Jackrabbit Rebel Yell Iron Dragon (I love Arrow suspendeds) X2
  4. I still can't get over how many people at CP I met back in June and again this month that had NO idea Mean Streak was being converted. I'd make a comment in line somewhere in conversation with my SO about how I can't wait to come back next year for Mean Streak, and inevitably some GP would chime in that MS is closed and they're tearing it down. I'd then point out all the cranes (at which point they'd say something like "Yes, they need them to disassemble it") and new red track going up. They'd act like they just found out the world isn't flat. It's a massive structure with a heck of a lot of workers making a racket all the time so I truly don't see how anyone on the train or back doing anything at all in Frontier Town wouldn't notice.
  5. I'll get the app and check it religiously. The plan is to get the unlimited Time Saver whether LR is running or not since my other half is still recovering from major leg surgery so has an even lower tolerance for standby lines than normal. We are treating Lightning Rod the way we treat TTD at Cedar Point... the second we see any sort of action, we abandon what we're doing and run over there for the best chance to get ON the ride, in any seat we can, even if it means as a single rider. Then we can go back in line and get picky about seating aka wait for the front on Dragster LOL. I'm getting pretty concerned that LR is back to being closed all day again though.
  6. That'll be an awesome trip! Definitely keep those goals in sight and do whatever you can to make it happen. Once you become a real adult with a full time job and all that nonsense it becomes significantly harder (for most people) to get the time off/money saved to make abroad coaster trips a possibility.
  7. This and more will be my reaction in 2 weeks exactly because I'm going to be so disappointed if it's not open for my trip. I've been super excited to ride this thing since the announcement came out and I remember watching the animation over and over and over. Hopefully the coaster gods will be smiling on me and I can get at least one ride on it. We are even thinking of buying season passes instead of just 2-day tickets so that we can zip over the evening we arrive (7/30) to see if it's working. (I can't remember if you guys said the wait time app works outside the park too?) We'll be there all day Mon 8/1 and Tues 8/2. Wednesday is planned to do some mountain coasters, visit the Ripley's aquarium, and do Hillbilly mini golf. But, if it seems to be working Wednesday we could abandon those plans and run over then. Thoughts, anyone?
  8. Looks like you had a nice trip with your mom! I fed the giraffes last year at the mid-station safari stop and it was a ton of fun. I work with horses including a few giant ones, but the heads on some of those giraffes are absolutely enormous in comparison! The safari is such a blast and every ride is different. I agree Ka is terrible and frankly I rarely ride it. Give ms TTD any day! Looking forward to future reports of yours with pics taken from a cleaned lens and somewhat level camera
  9. Would you mind sharing the great deals going on right now? I hadn't heard the adult ticket for a kid price. The last I heard was an online deal for $10 off. TIA!
  10. I'm boring/old fashioned/not creative in the naming department but I'd be happy with New Mean Streak, Iron Streak, or Stampede. Railblazer reminds me of Trailblazer at HP. That possible name is acceptable however and galaxies better than Valravn!
  11. What an awesome trip! You packed in a lot and it looks like you had a great time with lots and lots of rides. I just got back from a trip to Cedar Point yesterday so it's great to see your pics and pretend I'm still there haha. Did you see any shows at any of the parks? I haven't been to Sea World in 17 years so I'm sure a lot has changed but they had some great animal shows and exhibits back then. Cedar Point has a fantastic show called All Wheels Extreme and I love their roaming brass band that plays fun songs around the park!
  12. Finally got a chance to finish reading this TR. Stinks that your rides on Boulder Dash were such a terrible experience. It's hard to hear such raving reviews of a ride or park and then get off beat up and/or less than wowed. Unfortunately, I hyped up Phantom's Revenge so much that when my mom and I went to KW a few weeks ago she agreed it was a great ride but said I talked it up way too much. I'm trying to temper my expectations for my upcoming trip to Dollywood because everyone talks it up so much and compared to Cedar Point, which I just returned from yesterday, DW has less thrill rides but is more themed. I'm also fighting off the strong urge to watch ride POVs again so I'll be more surprised when I ride things. The incredible chairlift is stunning and you are so lucky to be some of the last riders ever on it! I'll never understand why it's considered more dangerous in some people's eyes to have a chairlift running during the summer but in winter with skiers wearing all kinds of bulky gear it's OK. I guess people think the snow will protect them in case of an emergency vs. the rocks will definitely smash you up? What a massive loss to have it closed permanently.
  13. ^ Haha!!! Thanks for the good wishes - they worked! We did get on after several very tense moments when the trains randomly failed to launch and they had to reset the music and car sound effects multiple times to get it working again. Then it'd launch a few fine and suddenly get fussy again. I'm sure there was something more complicated and accurate to it but that's what we came up lol. It seemed to go down again sometime after that while we were over marathoning Maverick since we didn't see a train launch for some time. But then while I marathoned Millennium Force I eventually saw the tower launch lights lighting up so we headed back over at 11:40pm for 2 more TTD rides, each 2 train waits only. The park was a ghost town the entire day with rerides allowed on multiple rides. Too bad you and Bert weren't there to share the day with!
  14. Dragster is up. I repeat, DRAGSTER IS UP! Lots and lots of testing and finally the green train was transferred off and the line opened. I happened to be at Power Tower and went over as soon as they began testing but it was like Black Friday madness with half of the park literally sprinting to form a line. They are not loading the last 2 cars. I chatted up one of the workers who said now that the main problem is hopefully resolved he is able to say that there was an issue with something in the launch motor and that's why it's been down for several days. We are on the ramp currently and fingers crossed it continues working so we can get on!
  15. Bert and Bill - we all sure had some tough Maverick luck on our visit last month but persevered! Despite the breakdown this morning we got a bunch of laps on it. Neither of you will believe me but Blue Streak was running great today. Sat in the 2nd car middle (non wheel) seat and had a fun and smooth ride. A month ago it felt like being sucked into a garbage disposal so whoever has been doing maintenance on it since then is heading on the right direction!
  16. ^We have on bright red shirts, BF's has CP designs on it and mine has a white heartbeat with a rabbit on the front. We'll be here tomorrow too! That's correct. The park is crazy busy in certain areas and dead in others. With TTD down and other big rides having off and on issues, I think people are spreading out in unusual ways.
  17. Dragster was down most of the day on the 4th according to my friend. Bummer. When we arrived yesterday evening it was running and by the time we got settled in Breakers and walked in the park it was down for the night. Hasn't moved at all today :/ Maverick had its usual hiccups this morning and Valravn was down for quite a while around noon but is back up and running.
  18. I am at the park now. Have ridden Maverick several times todayand the launches seem completely normal. Speedy as always. They are running five trains and a mechanic is working on another one to the side of the launch. More importantly, does anybody happen to know why Dragster has been down since yesterday evening? No activity whatsoever on it today that we can see.
  19. Super TR! You sure packed in a lot of fun in a small amount of time. For some reason I had no idea Discovery Kingdom had so many animals and great exhibits! I don't get out to California hardly ever but next time I do I'm definitely going to make a stop there for Joker and the animals. Your photos from the Snoopy museum are really interesting and that also looks like a great place to visit. Thanks for sharing your trip with us!
  20. Cool. That makes sense about length and pacing, thanks for the great explanation. I love Bizarro and the zero-G on it is freaking awesome. I'm not sure why it's not more loved other than maybe it's back in the woods, kind of between Toro and the Safari/Flume so people walk right past it.
  21. That's good to hear! At this point my trip is rapidly approaching and I'll happily take 1 train ops with assigned rows over closed LR.
  22. Digging the TR, Boldikus! Especially the unfiltered photos haha. I've never been up that way so it's neat to see the park. How would you compare Batman: TDK floorless to Bizarro? I was going to comment back with something obnoxious about how we got a beer that wasn't complete sh*t, but I can't make fun of you for drinking Angry Orchard when this same report has a picture of us with juice boxes. 1. The smiling sky ride picture confirmed to me that you do in fact have teeth! Just sayin'. 2. Juice boxes in kids meals are the shiz.
  23. Hooray for LR night rides! I'm keeping my fingers crossed for the next few weeks until my first ever DW visit in hopes that LR continues to run consistently. I want to ride it so badly. A few questions... Besides the fire alarm, was the ride down at all during the day? Are they assigning rows or are you allowed to choose? Still one train ops?
  24. YES. It'll be slammed unless the weather turns terrible. We did the basic VIP tour which got us one ride on all 6 coasters with no wait. They're only $25pp which is a steal of a deal. The unlimited wristband which also includes Aero360 and something else is $85 I think? Which seemed extraordinarily expensive to me since the park isn't actually all that big. You can also add a single ride on Black Widow, Aero360 or something else for $7 if you choose. That's a good deal as well - I'd recommend the $25 pass and then add Black Widow. Don't skip that!! Finding the appropriate VIP entrances at rides can be difficult since signage is less than stellar. Phantom's VIP entrance is thru the ride exit ramp. If you get there by noon you'll be able to buy the passes in-park without fear of them running out. They usually run out by 1PM IME. If you choose to buy them online, know that it must be done at least 48 hrs in advance. Have fun and post some pics with a TR (even if it's small) on your day!
  25. Fury, the kick ass flyers and Harmony Hall are the reasons we go to Carowinds. Glad you're having such a great day!! Afterburn is fantastic as well. We'll be there in 5.5 weeks for the first time since last fall. Take some pics to share with us!
