  1. While an I-Box would be great for Twins, I'd prefer the park to demo the ride and RMC to build from scratch.
  2. If you visit on a slower day like I did, there isn't even a ride host working that post. So I could just walk straight to the desired row like any other coaster.
  3. McDonalds, Subway, Taco Bell, as well as a few others that I don't know of, have coupons for online promo codes. Im not too sure on grocery stores or supermarkets since the only one in my town (Walmart, ugh) does not have them. Also, the park's website itself runs pretty good deals. If you have a coaster club membership you may get a deeper discount.
  4. I will have to remember this for our next visit. I love German food, and there are not many German restaurant's around. Btw....I believe there is a subway restaurant about a block away from the park. Yes there is, also, there is a Wendy's, McDonalds, and Denny's I believe just 5-10 min from the park next to the I-64/162 junction. Evansville is about 45 minutes west of the park with a lot more food options. Schnitzelbank is a favorite for locals in Jasper, although I have only ate there a few times. 1) Fried Oreos and Reese peanut butter cups are classic choices. I personally favor the funnel cakes and blue ice cream. 2) As stated earlier, The Smokehouse and Plymouth Rock Cafe are great choices. Other good ones are The Alamo, Kringle Cafe, Jungle Jake's, and Wildebeestro. 3) Answered above Enjoy your visit!
  5. Reservations are set for Hotel Breakers. We were really close to choosing Breakers Express, but the added benefits to the extra cost of HB made it worth it. Thanks for the input. I'm really looking forward to how much the renovations improved the resort since my last stay.
  6. There is one for Thunderbird throughout the queue for rollbacks, but execs at media day were told by B&M that rollbacks should be extremely rare. The situation with Mammoth sounds like a very rare circumstance to warrant making a new sign.
  7. Yes I've been to the Point many times, but I rarely stay on site unless I'm going for two days. I am trying to justify the extra cost of HB with the renovations and short walk from the park. Such things as coming back for lunch in the room to not have to buy food, and not paying for lockers both days are hard to compete with. But Breakers express is still $50 cheaper per person... I'm torn. Thank you for your response.
  8. I need some opinions on lodging! I'm heading up with a group of 5 in mid-June (dates still unsure but looking at the week of 6/15-19) and need some help on hotels. We are all trying to stick to $180 per person max for the room which after dividing the total room cost of Breakers is about what it equals to (it includes 2 Days ride and slide). I have personally stayed at Hotel Breakers before the renovation, just for convenience sake but wasn't too impressed with the outdated room. However that was with family and this particular trip is with just a group of guys. We also decided onsite hotels are the best option for the perks (parking voucher, early entry, etc) So my questions are: 1) Should we stick with budget-conscious Breakers Express, the conveniently located Hotel Breakers, or is there a better on-site hotel 2) If we chose Breakers Express, has anyone stayed there before? Would you recommend it? Thanks!
  9. The only part of the ride affected by the MCBR being turned on is the airtime in the triple down. Other than that, the rest of the ride doesn't feel much different from what it was in years past. For those who had not ridden it before this weekend, you aren't missing out on much. I'm disappointed to hear how some enthusiasts responded to this change, but at the same time am glad for those who had a great time at the event.
  10. Well, the front seat provides the smoothest ride, but the back seat provides the best ride. And, the ride is running the best it can for how it's built. It's a smooth as it will get, so not awful, but not glass-smooth. Granted it's the beginning of the season, but last week didn't feel any rougher than Thunderbird's media day. So, take that for what it's worth.
  11. I'll save a long photo trip report for another time since I didn't take any pictures but I thought I'd run down the highs and lows of this trip. I usually make the 4.5 hour trek to Kings Island once or twice a year so it's always a treat when I can make it out to Mason, Ohio. I was impressed with how friendly the staff was because I had multiple employees, mainly ride ops, ask me how my day was and if I was having a good time. I had never seen this level of customer service at the park before and it was certainly a surprise to me. One of the other big surprises was the fact that crowd levels were low yet the park rain all of the coasters at full capacity to insure that 0-5 minute waits on Banshee, Diamondback, Firehawk, etc. will a stay that way. It certainly made 15+ rerides each on Banshee and Diamondback more feasible! One downside of the trip was that Drop Tower was closed, but I will be back later in the season with it hopefully open. I thought I'd give an update/mini-review on all of the major coasters: Banshee: Hauling arse like always. Rode about 15 times in the front and back rows. While early in the morning their was noticeable rattle, it seemed to go away later on in the day. Either that, or I got used to it. Still my second favorite invert behind Montu, but very close. Also, I don't think anyone has mentioned it, but the rarely-used trim on the bottom of the zero-g roll is gone. Diamondback: Running 100x better than last year somehow, being smooth and fast. I experienced the best airtime (dare I say ejector) I ever had on this ride in the second row of the front car, right seat. Maybe my lap bar was one notch up to where I flew, but nearly every hill I slammed it. Great ride with about 10 laps on it. The Beast: here's the biggest disappointment of the trip. Wow have the trimmed the hell out of this coaster. So much so, that any airtime you think you could've experienced on the second hill after the first drop, completely gone. Why is a trim necessary on the first drop and the crest of the second hill??? Very drastic change from what I remember last year, and not for the better. Seriously, the Beast is crawling at many points in the ride. How sad. Firehawk: meh, never a fan but it's always a plus when the ride is a walkon Flight of Fear: pretty good, though more slamming into your ride partner than I remember. Also, it was the only ride that consistently kept a 45 minute wait all day, so we hit this very first thing. The Bat: Same fun suspended coaster it always is. Hope these last another 5-10 years Racer: Rough in some areas, but still a classic. Thunder Road mourners will enjoy it. Backlot: Another meh, but from what I understand, it's the best of the three clones since most of the effects are still working (I believe the water effects were the only ones turned off from its opening year?) Vortex: Kill it with fire. Seriously even in the so-called Magic seat this ride is awful. Count me in the group that does not understand the love for this ride. There are no redeeming qualities for me, sorry Vortex fans. Invertigo: pretty rough, also not a fan of this ride. Other notes: The food service was god-awful today. LaRosa's took 30 minutes for about 15 people in front me, though the pizza itself was fine. Auntie Anne's pretzels were stale, thin, and hardly salted. Not impressed with the food today at all. The park was looking very clean, with copious amounts of the sweepers everywhere. The petting farm was cute, although a little small. Everyone in my group had a blast despite a few downsides. Overally, you could've have picked a better day for crowds or weather than today this week. Walk-ons for nearly every coaster always makes the day better.
  12. I'm at the park right now and everything is basically a walkon. Banshee and Diamondback's front row are one train waits. Also, amazingly the park is running all of the trains on each ride. Pretty much perfect day at the park! Edit: Well, almost perfect. Drop Tower and Windseeker have yet to open.
  13. You're right, maybe I should've used the term "hope" instead of "assume." While most of the Indiana schools are out now, I think the Ohio ones still have another week or two. Edit: Also, if you buy a souvenir cup online, are you buying a voucher or does a bottle physically ship to your house? Sorry if it's a stupid question, but I've never bought one of these online before.
  14. I'm probably heading to the park Wednesday. Unless someone knows of any event, am I correct to assume the park will have low crowds?
  15. In case anyone was interested, the park has updated their app to include wait times for the major attractions in the park. However, you can only view the wait times when you are at the park, which I find odd. I'm really hoping Cedar Point is the next one to add this to their app.
  16. ^ Not sure when it went down, but was open a week and a half ago (5/9) when I was last there.
  17. I spent the whole day at the park today and had a good time despite crappy weather. Crowds were pretty low and died off by 3 because of the rain. The water park was partially closed off (The Wave and Hyena Falls) as well as some restaurants being closed. All of the rides, for the most part, ran in moderate rain, which is good. The only ride that was closed all day was Crow's Nest, but no loss there. As for the current state of the coasters: The Raven is pretty normal, being fun, but a little rough in the final third of the ride. The Legend is still has the most impressive trackwork IMO. Much improved compared to the last few years. The Voyage is running very well since it is the beginning of the season, so take it for what it's worth. I understand why many don't like the Voyage, as it's very aggressive. Different people have different tastes in wooden coasters. I personally see it as a great wooden coaster with a little room for improvement, being second only to Outlaw Run for me.
  18. ^ Exactly, Indiana Beach is much farther away from Santa Claus then Beech Bend and Kentucky Kingdom. Indiana Beach is on the complete other side of the state. You at least should ride Wildebeest and Mammoth. They are can't miss attractions in the water park. Youll have plenty of time for rerides on the coasters in the afternoon while everyone else is at the water park.
  19. That someone is me and yes it is very crowded that day. Definitely go the following Sunday, unless you are interested in the concert.
  20. It's also a matter of what to do with Spider-Man. It's the best attraction in the park/resort for many people, so removing/retheming it could cause a lot of controversy, regardless of its replacement. I agree with others that I personally would rather see Kid Zone in Studios get the boot and remove E.T. for an E-ticket dark ride.
  21. Wednesday to Sunday operation begins this week and next week with daily operation starting Memorial Day, so that will help. The issue just had bad timing, as it was a busy day yesterday. The staff remained hopeful about Thunderbird and Voyage reopening soon until around 4 and just kept them closed. The maintenance issue is most likely nothing of concern, it just was unfortunately timed. Both rides ran test cycles at certain points in the day so they weren't completely stagnant. And I'm hearing they are down again today. Maybe they'll reopen later this afternoon, but who knows.
  22. Taking a quick stop by the park today was a mistake. There is a middle/high school festival so TONS of screaming teenagers everywhere. On top of that, the two stars of the park remained closed all day, which meant a lot of unhappy guests, although the park is issuing free return tickets. Maintenance was still working on it as I left, but there is no guarantee they will be running tomorrow. Hope the issues are nothing serious! Also, the park is handling the flak on social media very professionally, which is definitely good to see.
