Cedar Point (CP) Discussion Thread
Koasterking48 replied to robbalvey's topic in Theme Parks, Roller Coasters, & Donkeys!
If I recall correctly many of the restricted area signs say something like: RESTRICTED AREA. ENTERING MAY CAUSE RISK OF INJURY OR DEATH. Sorry, but if that doesn't stop you, I don't know what will. I understand if you sympathize for him or their family, but the park is at zero fault and there was nothing they could've done. -

Exactly. Such an incident never should've happened. -

At the park today and lines are fairly short. Diamondback's crew has slightly improved and are not stacking three trains all the time (still on occasion though). No visible construction anywhere for 2016, which will probably be general improvements. Fun day ahead! -

These past few Cedar Fair leaks have really ruined the fun of being surprised what the park is going to build. It seems unavoidable with the Internet, but it's just not as exciting when you already know exactly what CP is building before they want you to know. -
Holiday World (HW) Discussion Thread
Koasterking48 replied to robbalvey's topic in Theme Parks, Roller Coasters, & Donkeys!
^Sorry, I meant to word that post as it was off for me on Media Day, but I only rode twice. I was unaware that they had actually turned it on Media Day as I assumed it was off all day. I seem to recall reading that there was a three year Thanksgiving celebration plan starting with Mayflower. The Mayflower was the first year, Thunderbird was second year. Is there still a third part of the plan for next year or have their plans been changed or possibly delayed? Since next year is Holiday World's 70th year I feel like they probably have something planned, just nothing "gigantic". Thunderbird was huge so I don't expect anything that big so soon, but I can't help looking forward to and being curious about the things they have planned for the future. I'd say a flat ride is still possible for 2016 with an announcement in September/October. Likely? No, but something has to happen to the old Sparkler pad sooner or later. -
The "Pleasant/Unpleasant Surprise" Thread
Koasterking48 replied to cfc's topic in Theme Parks, Roller Coasters, & Donkeys!
Pleasant: Powder Keg: I did NOT expect an awesome family coaster like this for a low height restriction. This ride is great! Thunderation: A surprisingly fast mine train with some forceful helices. Bizarro: Let me give some background to this. I had been reading lots of reviews about how bad the rattle was or how sluggish it was this season. I don't know what they are talking about, because it was fantastic! Easily in my top 5 coasters! Thunderbolt: I never read any discussion about this classic coaster. It had some pretty good airtime and was relatively smooth. Unpleasant: Wildfire: While it's by no means a bad coaster, I was just expecting a little more. Maybe I just wish it was a Kumba clone Goliath: I had already written my review a couple weeks ago about my opinion, but wow this ride is awful. I was highly anticipating my first GIB considering how rare they are. Well, turns out the Premier trains ruined the ride from what it used to be. Sigh, what a disappointment -

Every time I've been there (9 or 10 times this season) it has been on with the exception of Thunderbird's Media Day Well, I did not say that the ending was not different because it is. I just said that the airtime is still there. The intensity/slamming back and forth (depending on your opinion of The Voyage) is toned down from previous years. Whether or not the change in the ride is for the better is up to personal preference. I did not mind the way it was before and I do not mind the way it is now. It's just, different. -
Carowinds Discussion Thread

^ Cue the inevitable "tearing down Thunder Road was unnecessary" posts from the GP. I think it looks like a pretty good sized expansion. Edit: Well that didn't take long! Already seeing whiny Carowinds fanboys complain on that website. -

Yes but to a much lesser extent. However the rest of the ride is still filled with good airtime. -

While I agree that the ride was better paced, you complaining about it publicly on Twitter to the park was not the way you should've approached it. File a formal complaint to the park through their website and they'll probably thank you for your feedback. Speaking of that, the park is recieving positive feedback from the MCBR slow down since it makes the last stretch of the ride more tolerable to many. So, expect this to be around for a while until a long-term solution is reached. -

Really the vests are only necessary for rides with slow inline rolls which is most of the wing coasters and Banshee. So, I really don't understand why they would need to design a new wider train with less seats. You're basically slightly decreasing capacity for no reason. Edit: Hydras the only exception I can think of and that was way back in 2005. -

As I posted a while back, I'm willing to bet a large majority of people complaining about the dive coaster have never ridden Sheikra or Griffon. I rode Sheikra last year and thought it was really fun. -

I agree, something similar to Powder Keg would be really great. It's an awesome family coaster, especially for one at a 42in height requirement! -

All that's been "leaked" is a few VR low res quality screenshots and people are already complaining about the layout. -

^ Sounds like you had a great time and I'm sorry to hear about the theft incident. Like most wood coasters, they all run fairly "smoothly" during April/May and slowly worsen by August. I completely understand your analysis of The Voyage and agree with many of your points. It's not my favorite woodie, but it's still top 3. Having ridden it so many times for the past 9 years, I'd consider my self somewhat immune to its roughness. Either that or it's the concussion I've got from my first ride I have a feeling we may see the Voyage get a long term solution to make its intensity enjoyable in the near future whether it involves RMC or not. As for the other two, I personally think they would be fine without topper track. I realize this topic has been discussed way more than necessary so don't kill me for bringing it up again And to comment about the future theater, I think they should just demolish or enclose the Hoosier Theater before building an all new one. -

Any idea on where they were taking it? They were coming from the back of the park up the Gemini Midway towards the front somewhere. I saw a film crew Saturday and they were by Shoot the Crapids. -

Can't say for sure, but it appears that the crowd levels have been really insane over the last couple of weeks. Fridays, Saturdays, and Monday's the past two weeks have been packed. I was there this past Saturday and even the Fast Lane Plus line for Dragster and Maverick were over an hour. -

After 8 visits this season, the line has always moved pretty fast for Thunderbird because of the quick operations. I'd say it's pretty close to that number. -

From the sounds of this VR coaster "revamp," it could be an up-charge similar to the 3D glasses Disaster Transport had. I would honestly be surpised if it wouldn't be extra. -

Very easy assembly. You just punch/push out the metal parts from the tray and place them into the base in their respective slots. It took me roughly 15-20 minutes to carefully not bend any metal too far. -

Agreeing with everyone who likes dive coasters. Sheikra is a really great ride and Cedar Point will obviously just make one better. On a side note, I finally got home from my impromptu CP trip Saturday and bought the Nanocoaster from the Pagoda Gift Shop. It looks really great on a desktop! Im definitely buying Gatekeeper and Dragster!
