So, my review of Knott's. I think it's a very good park and my opinion is it's better than SFMM. I was there for 12 hours yesterday and I enjoyed every minute of it. Here are my reviews: GhostRider: I expected a little more from GhostRider as I sat in the front seat, but it isn't as wild as Apocalypse, front seat. It's a solid woodie and the roughness is tolerable and it is my 2nd favorite wooden coaster after Apocalypse. Jaguar: It's a nice family coaster, but I don't remember from a few years ago of how bad it beats your back up. I wish there was a little more padding as for that reason, it ranks the lowest of the 3 family coasters at Knott's. Montezooma's Revenge: I really enjoyed Monte and it's sad of how it is currently the only shuttle loop in operation in the US. Monte's loop is more forceful than I thought as I expected the same forces as Revolution's loop. Of all the thrilling coasters of Knott's, I feel this is the most re-rideable. Pony Express: This is a really good family coaster and I think it doesn't deserve all of this negativity. I was surprised on how forceful the launch is and the first hill has good laterals. I expected this to be like Survivor (CGA) in terms of the back restraint pain, but I felt no pain on Pony Express. Sierra Sidewinder: I believe this is the best family coaster in Knott's as this is such a great family coaster. I have never been on such a smooth coaster ever before and I'm surprised how it kept this smootness after 5 years. Many complain about the lack of spinning, but I rode it twice and both times I had pretty good spinning. Many complain about how it is not for tall people, I'm 6' 2" and I had no problems. Sierra Sidewinder is very comfortable and I really like how comfortable Mack makes their coasters. Silver Bullet: Many complain how bad it is and how forceless it is. I feel that is incorrect, it is not as intense at Batman or Top Gun, but it has pretty good forces especially on the final helix. I really don't see how good the overbank is on SB as I expected very minor weightlessness for a very short amount of time. The front seat is the best as it has the best visuals as SB has no nets underneath it. Xcelerator: This has become my favorite coaster as I was blown away by the launch and there was good airtime on the top hat. It doesn't have very big forces, but I feel like it is has the perfect amount. The overbanks are really no big deal. Supreme Scream: Many say how forceless it is, I don't believe that. The freefall sensation is just as good as Drop Zone (CGA) and it has a good amount of forces at the bottom of the drop. Mine Ride: A very nice classic ride. I especially enjoy the final part when it is more like a runaway mine train. I must say it has very good capacity as they really cram people into the cars (though I wish they did a little less cramming). Railroad: I really enjoy the railroad and it has the best view of the 2013 construction site (far superior to Sky Cabin's view). The "surprise" is always a fun part of the trip. I'm sure those who have been on the railroad before knows what the surprise is (don't spoil it!). Log Ride: Of all the classic Knott's rides, this one is my favorite. I really like the logging and wilderness theme to it. I'm surprised how good operations are as they are sending logs out very quickly. It doesn't get you too wet which I enjoy. This is also the most well maintained log flume I have ever been on. Sky Cabin: I was very dissapointed by this. I expected it to be a nice observation tower like Star Tower (CGA), but the cabin is just terrible. The glass is very dirty and it feels like Knott's doesn't do a good job maintaining it. I believe that Sky Cabin needs to get a new cabin.

I went to Knott's yesterday and the splashdown and bridge are intact. The area other than the splashdown area is dirt. PP's station is removed with a big hole for where it was. Sorry, no pictures. My Knott's review will be posted soon. From seeing Knott's operations, they'll probably have 6 - 8 cars running throughout the year. (8 on the busy days, 6 in the off-season)

This makes great sense to me. I guess I should say in my opinion it is more exciting that Knott's is getting a good flat ride and a good family coaster which are things that the park really needs as opposed to SFMM getting another gimmicky ride with bad capacity that can be argued to be a horrible use of space which is something the park has quite a few of already and could easily get by without. Note: I don't count the Scrambler for KBF as a new ride as it's been there for so long, just not continuously. At least these new additions are adding a lot of atmosphere to Knott's as Full Throttle will kill High Sierra Territory.

Spin Big Hawk's Tony. Then, Hawk Tony sued Six Flags for using his name...

Only if they do a better job of it than Kings Dominion did. The only part of Anaconda that got painted was the final turn and brake run. Yeah, I heard about that. Though, the GP will notice very easily that a portion of Xcelerator has been painted and they'll say "OMG, WHY IS DAH COASTER HAV DIFFRENT COLORS?!?!". Plus, Xcelerator is only 2202' and they already finished painting the supports, so it shouldn't cost that much money to finish it.

Hurricane Sandy vs. Roller Coasters

I heard Pirate's Hideaway is also gone. -
I have no problems with the colors and it fits the Boardwalk really well. Plus, I wouldn't rely on the concept art with the color of the coaster, it can look much different. Plus, these wild mouse coasters usually look good in any paint scheme. Technic Coaster (LLC) has faded blue track and blue supports and it looks really nice.

23/24. This was easy. -
I never mastered the art of snapping at Flying Eagles (CGA), but it still was a lot of fun. I can't wait for Surfside Glider to open, I know I'll try to ride that as much as possible, plus it would have such a nice atmosphere with the new Boardwalk Bay and Coast Rider in the back. Even though the concept art proves me wrong, I hope Coast Rider will be a mirror-image of Technic Coaster, so at least it will be a little different.

That's a lot of low thrill coasters in the park, and seems to be a return to the earlier days. Until the park proves otherwise by adding a 'big' ride, it reads as a repudiation of Cedar Fair's strategy upon acquisition. If my kids were still six and eight I'd love the move. It seems like Knott's has a small competition with LLC, but why have a competition if they're adding a clone of a coaster in LLC? Honestly, something like a Gerstlauer Bobsled such as Aquawind (Lagunasia) would be better as it would differentiate itself from Technic Coaster (LLC). Aquawind is a clone of Pandemonium (SFDK), just without spinning cars. Also, this scares me: The GP will be confused with these two coasters. (Image credit: RCDB)

NO!!!!!!!!!! Great, now both of my home parks will have a clone of the same layout. I really hoped it wouldn't be a clone and that the rumors would be false. I wished for something a little more unique or at least have a clone of a coaster not found in California. I'm doubting it's going to be different from Technic Coaster (LLC) and it would probably be the same ride experience. Plus, the lines will be much longer for Coast Rider than Technic Coaster since it is at Knott's and it's a new ride. Pretty much this mouse really has no value to me. I won't go into how bad Coast Rider is when it has a near-exact prononciation as Ghost Rider. I'd rather have them name it Wild Mouse. I could care less about the scrambler, I rode the one in SFDK and wasn't very impressed. Now, don't think of me being negative and all, there are some positives: -This will greatly improve the Boardwalk atmosphere, the concept art shows the Boardwalk have a much nicer feeling without the massive Perilous Plunge. -I really liked Flying Eagles when CGA was my home park and I'm happy that Knott's is getting one. I'm more interested in Surfside Glider than any other ride.

At least the S&S tower in Funtown Pier is still holding up well, hopefully they'll get that back in operation. -
Lagoon Discussion Thread
XYZ replied to Twister II's topic in Theme Parks, Roller Coasters, & Donkeys!
Why are you labeling Lagoon as small? It's big enough to afford a large capital investment, and the park doesn't seems to make huge installations every year. I think a big investment is a possibility, but I'll wait for an announcement. Lagoon IS a small park. The largest coaster there is Wicked which isn't that large. I would put Lagoon in the same category as Silverwood for size. I would really doubt there will be any investment larger than $15 million for a new addition at Lagoon. -

This proves that all of the GP stereotypes are true. -

I've known about these coasters before from TPR trip reports of the Jersey Shore before and I always thought that these small parks should get better coasters, well now is their chance. I am a bit sad for this, but it's mainly because I never went on either and I really haven't captured how bad those two coasters were that I would've been happy they are gone. Hopefully, better coasters will come.
