  1. I will re-check the sign next time I go to Santa Cruz, but you are probably right. Just think about a GP sticking their whole upper body out of the car, not only is it hilarious to imagine, it's dangerous and stupid. We all are smarter than that, that's why we're not the GP.
  2. Think Scream is rough, come down to my home park, CGA and try Vortex. Then, you will know what a rough B&M really is.
  3. Now, your making me want to go to that (imaginary) park.
  4. In the future (Fall, Next Year) I might be going to Six Flags Magic Mountain. I will be spending a day there and I want to hit all the great coasters. I need a game plan to know when to go on the coasters, which coasters I could skip, and non-coaster advice such as where affordable, good food is. I will not be spending money on a Flash Pass. My younger sister wants to go on Revolution (first looping coaster for her), Ninja, and Terminator/Apocalypse. My priorities for coasters is to hit X2, Tatsu, Riddler's Revenge, and Goliath. Think that the scenario would take place on a regular summer weekday. Thanks to those who respond.
  5. Millennium Force. I always wanted to go on it and it has a long duration, high speeds during the whole ride, and just because it's considered a legend to many.
  6. An interesting thing on the Giant Dipper is there's a sign that you go under during the ride that states," Danger! Keep arms down". Aren't coasters designed that if you put your arms up that you won't hit the wooden beams. If you could, it probably won't pass safety regulations. On the ride, this one person put their hands up during the whole ride and they weren't even close to hitting the beam. In my opinion, I think the sign is just there to scare people, but is it really a hazard to put your hands up during the ride?
  7. Disneyland + Six Flags Magic Mountain. Tons of theming and Tons of coasters equals one awesome park.
  8. ^^A very good video. Also at the 0:49 mark you can hear a little girl saying that it goes upside down.
  9. ^^Hilarious. Another odd thing I found yesterday when I went to Great America is there's a blue tarp covering something near the Top Gun/Flight Deck exit. Can this be parts for a new ride? There are some parts laying around near Top Gun's lift that seem to not been painted since it has a dull paint job. I saw lots of piles of parts laying near the big dirt hill east of Top Gun. Plus, at Celebration Swings, the height-measuring stick had 58" on there, I don't know of any ride that you need to be 58" to go on. Unless, Cedar Fair "mass-produces" those height-measuring sticks with 58" so it can work at any park, though in other rides the maximum height is 54". There's a lot of odd things happening at CGA. Also, if there is a new ride, Thunder Raceway could be replaced very easily and it has a good amount of space for a flat ride or ZacSpin. The Edge used to be there so rides can be at least 131' or more in that location.
  10. Wow, I'm going to purchase this book ASAP. About e-books, I will never purchase an e-book or never purchase an e-book for a long, long time. I like real, hard books, they won't break when you drop it and I enjoy the massive books that you can buy at Borders that has super-huge pics that e-books can't deliver. E-books are the future but just go to the library and get a book for free for a week instead of getting a e-book and purchasing a book you might only read for a week then get bored of it.
  11. Steel: Demon/Flight Deck @ California's Great America Wood: Grizzly @ California's Great America Yes, I am a coaster enthusiast without that large of a coaster count. For years, I dreamed about going for a week to Ohio just to visit Cedar Point and Kings Island though airfare (live in CA), platinum passes, and hotel rooms are really expensive, though I will go there one day.
  12. When California's Great America closed down in October, I was coasterless until May (when I got a CGA Season Pass), I just watched POVs of various coasters around the park, made coasters in both RCT2, RCT3, and NoLimits, go on RCDB.com, create my own parks, and go on ScreamScape daily (still do that). My first coaster in over 6 months was Demon @ CGA, and I had a really fun time on that coaster, probably because I finally rode a coaster over a long period of time.
  13. www.toptenlinks.com/cat.php/Recreation%3AAmusement+Parks%3AGeneral/ttl_rank/DESC/0/1 WOW, I didn't know that Six Flags was a park. Everyone, lets go to the #1 park in the country, Six Flags!!!! Now where is that, is it in Jackson, New Jersey, nope, is it in Valencia, California, nope, let me go on Google Maps to find out where Six Flags is located. Now I know its in Grand Prarie, Texas... wait that's their HQ. (For those who don't know, I'm putting a lot of sarcasm into this post) This website fell for it: answers.ask.com/Travel/Amusement_Parks/top_10_amusement_parks
  14. First, here's a "secret" about Santa Cruz. On Mondays and Tuesdays after 5pm in the Summers, all the rides are just $1. Hot Dogs and Drinks are also $1, this event is called 1907 Nights. Other than 1907 Nights, it might take more than 2 hours to do all the credits (Giant Dipper, Hurricane, Logger's Revenge, Double Shot, Fireball, Rock-O-Plane, etc) You also might want to take into consideration that the Boardwalk might/will be a lot busier with a lot longer lines. I'm speaking from past experiences. I always go at 11am right when the Boardwalk opens because usuallythey're no lines on any rides usually (Plus most/all the rides usually open at 11am). I have gotten 8-10 rides on the Giant Dipper in less than 20-30 minutes. The problem is the Giant Dipper is $5 for 1 ride. The lines aren't that bad in 1907 Nights, I can go on all the major rides in less than 3 hours. Going at 11 am is good with short lines though to pay for an all day wristband is well over $20 and when you go to 1907 Nights, if you're just one person, you probably will pay less than $15. Also here are some of other things you need to know about the Boardwalk -Try to get 1st seat on Giant Dipper. They don't allow you to really pick your seats, though the ride operator that opens the chain and lets you through, ask him/her if you can wait for the next ride so you can ride the front. Beware if you don't get the front, it can be a very rough ride. -Try to get back seat on Hurricane. I've been on almost all of the seats from the front, middle, and back. The back is much more fun and thrilling than any other seat and you have a much better chance at getting it. -Try the new Freefall ride. It looks like a kiddie ride though I went on it just because it was the new ride for 2011. I thought it was going to be a boring kiddie ride that I'm wasting money for. Though, the ride was actually a lot of fun. It's like being on a drop tower with that feeling that your stomach is in your mouth. Though, that feeling is repeated over a dozen times. The height of the new Freefall ride is around double that of the old one. -Beware of Rock & Roll and Sea Swings. For those who don't know, Rock & Roll is a Matterhorn and Sea Swings is a Wave Swinger. Both rides are built by Bertazzon America. Both rides are fun, though there are stupids rules that make it very boring. You cannot rock the vehicles (or cars) during the ride and on Sea Swings you cannot raise your hands up and you need to put your hands firmly on the lap bar. Hopefully these hints will make your visit better.
  15. What do you think will be the 2012 ride if there was going to be one built.

  17. Fine, because of the pickyness of this thread, here's another link: mytown.mercurynews.com/archives/sunnyvalesun/08.25.99/drop-zone-9934.html
  18. Floorless. Your feet are "inches" from the track, its much better than a floor. Plus, when you're in the front, there isn't anything annoying in front of you.
  19. Not only is your wording selection in referencing the victim as "a retarded kid" very politically incorrect, but your facts are wrong also. I thought that I was reading a post in the "Stupidest things the "GP" have said" thread. Here are the correct facts regarding the incident, which was deemed unsolved with no explanation to how the boy fell: The incident occurred on August 22th 1999, and after much inspection, they were never able to find a malfunction that resulted in the boys death. The harness remained closed for the duration of the ride and the boy met the requirements. Now you know the correct facts of the accident and now know that its pretty unacceptable in most places to use the word "Retarded", especially in a situation where you ARE talking about someone who is mentally disabled, I can speak of my own memory of this accident. Even being over in Canada, I have memories of this particular accident. I remember my mother wouldn't allow me to ride Drop Zone at Canada's Wonderland after reading about this accident in a magazine of some sorts while at my grandmother house. I remember clearly my first ride on Drop Zone. My dad wanting to go on it and I refusing to go, scared by the story my mother told me of the accident. I ended up going on it (After being called a chicken. Nice dad eh? ), and coming back to Hanna-Barbara Land to meet up with my mom and sister, and telling her that I was "Not Dead". She was not happy. I think that the most traumatic incident that comes to mind is defiantly the Superman Drop Tower Accident. Just a crazy accident, that could have happened anywhere before the modifications to the safety systems were made. Drop Tower: Scream Zone In August 1999, a 12-year-old boy who was mentally disabled fell from the tower and died. The victim's family claimed the harness was not locked properly. An investigation was inconclusive and no charges were filed.[7] From "Incidents at Cedar Fair parks" page in Wikipedia en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Incidents_at_Cedar_Fair_parks I do not know what you're talking about that my facts are wrong, the kid was mentally disabled as shown on Wikipedia. I know it was odd that he could open the harness. I did not mean to offend you in any way.
  20. www.cbsnews.com/stories/2002/06/25/earlyshow/living/parenting/main513414.shtml Read this. This shows so much proof that amusement parks are extremely safe (which we all know is true) and then there's a stupid government official that Americans voted in that thinks amusement parks are extremely UNSAFE.
  21. I saw that to and was like "what the hell?" I mean cars are more dangerous if I'm not mistaken. Whenever some of my relatives or friends ask me about safety of coasters, I tell them they have more of a chance getting killed by finding a parking spot in an amusement park.
  22. After reading your comment, it's a bit hilarous watching that commercial knowing it's all pointless.
  23. There was a time when a mentally disables kid opened his harness and fell off Drop Zone in Great America, killing himself. EDIT: I edited it to make everyone happy.
