  1. * Opened in 1998, closed in 2010 * Had the same colors as Darien Lake's Boomerang coaster * Was one of many Vekoma Boomerang clones Next Ride: Sonic Spinball (Alton Towers)
  2. Maybe it was for safety reasons, I'm not sure either.
  3. I forgot to mention V2: Vertical Velocity (SFDK) since that coaster has the best layout for a shuttle coaster even though it's all red color scheme is UGLY!. Another honorable mention (to me) would be Kennywood's original Steel Phantom's layout, the inversion made the coaster better in terms of looks even though the original SP color scheme was just bland, but the Phantom's Revenge is good even without inversions.
  4. There is one thing that I don't get about roller coaster in general, how could a good coaster have a bad layout (like Ride of Steel at Darien Lake and Six Flags America)? and how could a bad coaster have a good layout (like Drachen Fire at Busch Gardens Williamsburg)?
  5. n this thread, you share what coaster layout you think is the "best". This includes a part (or parts) of a coaster's layout, coasters that are now gone, and you can also say coasters that you haven't ridden. A good layout can be exciting, original throughout the whole ride and even theming (if applicable) . Your list of coasters can be like my list below or you can just say the coaster and say why you like the layout. Ridden: Viper (Darien Lake) - Sure it maybe an old rough Arrow roller coaster, but it has a timeless classic layout with five inversion and an underground tunnel. Maverick (Cedar Point) - A rather fast and awesome coaster with a cool name and rocks Not have ridden: Dueling Dragons: - I know I've called it its old name, But I liked it better without Harry Potter and also its "double header" loops (It's too bad the layout has gone to "waste" since the dragons are no longer "dueling") Superman: Ultimate Flight (SFDK): - Personally, I may not like the idea of Six Flags overusing superheroes, but it has good layout for a short coaster that is not a kiddie coaster Now gone: Drachen Fire (Busch Gardens Williamsburg) - It's a shame that such a rough coaster that had short lived operating life would have such a good layout that could have been awesome if it was still around. P.S. I never had the chance to ride it!
  6. (Superman) Ride of Steel coasters at Darien Lake and Six Flags America. Both rides have that same "boring" mostly a straightaway and helices layout. I think that the layout of the "Ride of Steel" coasters could have used an inversion or at least a tunnel.
  7. Rainbow mountain would also be a blast from the past. I believe the slides that 'Cuda Falls replaced was rainbow mountain. Yes, Rainbow Mountain was Darien Lake original water slides and don't forget that Cascade Canyon would also be another blast from the past. Cascade Canyon was the slide complex that was next to Rainbow Mountain and later 'Cuda Falls that got replaced with the Shipwreck Falls boat flume ride for the "dry" park.

  13. Why one train operations again, is Darien Lake too cheap to buy two trains for Ride of Steel?

  15. I guess I can just kiss my hopes of Darien Lake building anything water park related in the former Barracuda Bay area goodbye since Darien Lake is keeping all of the water park stuff to that one area by Elk Lake near the main gate. But at least they getting rid of the separate water park entrance which was SBNO since 2011 when Darien Lake decided to bring back one price admission for both the theme and water parks after a one season "experiment" of having a separate admission for just the water park. As for "dry" rides, I just hope that Ride of Steel, Motocoaster, Predator, and Viper have two train operations this season. I just can't take the whole "wait in line forever" thing all because of one train operations and no "skip the lines" program.
  16. Phantom's Revenge (Kennywood)
