California Great America (CGA) Discussion Thread

^Probably bad capacity. Vortex isn't that bad with one train because it's a shorter ride (but fun nonetheless.) Riddler's Revenge on the other hand, now that's a problem. Riddler's second train is probably in rehab while the other train is in New Jersey for Green Lanturn. That leaves Roddler's Revenge with only one train. I hope that both will have 2 train operations this season. -
You can't really compare Mantis with Bizzaro. One's a floorless and one's a stand up. Not really that comparable.

I've seen it on the transfer track sometimes in the '10 season. Let's hope it's in rehab. -

They could just give it a little bit or rehab like they've been doing with Grizzly the past couple years. It's smooth to me but the has very sharp turns and the unstable seats makes the sharp turns very rough. -

I'm told Hurler is a very underrated ride. But so is Grizzly. -
I hate it when people get pissed of at something that isn't offensive at all!

I highly doubt that would happen. This is CGA that we're talking about, I don't see anything like that happening soon anyways. But if it did, it would certainly be where that proposed woodie would go. -

^ I'm going to just believe in that theory until anything official comes out clear. That's only assuming if anything does happen so let's hope not. -

So who has their season passes already for 2011? They're a really great deal at the moment. -

Say what you want, but CGA is not "the absoloute worst park ever". Invertigo, Flight Deck, and Demon are all fun rides. FireFall, Delirium, and Survivor are some great flat rides. Drop Tower is amazing. Also, SFDK is much closer to you than Disneyland, Knott's and Six Flags Magic Mountain and have some awesome rides. You should really check it out, it's fun. I can see what you mean, but I see at least one new addition before this park meets its demise. All I'm trying to say is, enjoy the park for what it is, I enjoy ir more than SFDK IMO and hope it stays there for at least a few more seasons. -

Yeah, it really is frustrating. Nobody really knows what's going on or what will happen. It's sure be nice to know. I guess we will find out sometime in the not-so-near future. -

It surely has. Cedar Fair has done a good job of cleaning the park up and maintaining the existing rides IMO. -

I hope you're kidding (it'd seem that you're not). Cedar Fair would never turn this 100 acre landlocked park with a growing threat (49ers stadium) into a Cedar Point (or even a mini Cedar Point). The likeliness of just as likely that we will find aliens on the moon tomorrow. That will never happen. Sorry to burst your bubble, but that's just impossible. Trust me it saddens me too. -

This is why retracking helps. Not only does it smoothen out the ride, but it also makes it move slightly quicker! Looking at videos from 2006, you can clearly see that it went slower around that turnaround. -

Grizzly is one smooth woodie. It's the second smoothest wooden coaster that I've ridden after Terminator. Honestly, nobody gives Grizzly a chance. -

Interesting. Grizzly has an odd, yet interesting history. Also, I can tell the trains got repainted neither during, or before the 2000 season. You can clearly tell in this picture from RCDB, that in this picture from 2000 the trains are indeed red and blue. http://rcdb.com/77.htm?p=1310 -

Has anybody noticed that Grizzly's cars used to be brown? I just noticed that looking through some pictures on Roller Coaster Database. -

So, I can anyone estimate what the fate of this park? I doubt that they're getting anything next year. So what's going to happen then? If you haven't added anything new for a long time, does the park slowly fade away? I've been reading alot of Columbia's comments, and he seems to know what he's talking about, so maybe he could answer this. What does this mean? How does the park stay afloat? What is Cedar Fair trying to do that is or isn't working? I'd just like to know if someone could comment on that. -

Guys!... that was a joke. Obviously a petition would just be a bad idea and not make any sense. Moving on... -
I feel that the Terminator pre show now ends right as soon as it gets good. Good acting, but lame ending. Robb- With Six Flags Magic Mountain being how it was today, do you think that the "new" SFMM is worse than the "new" SFMM that was the Thomas/Shapiro era. I know it's too early to tell, but if you could predict based on your visit today, does SFMM seem like it will get any better or worse this year? Just thought I'd ask.
