Modern Treated Coaster wood doesn't rot nor does anything eat it, My local miniature railroad club has been making railroad ties out of Texas cyclone and Magic mountains Psyclone for years now slowly whittling down the piles. Contains All sorts of nasty poisons and preservatives.

I have always loved going to schlitterbahn since I was little, because they have some really unique rides and play areas and always win best lazy rivers and not so lazy river contests. Correct me if I'm wrong but they pretty much invented the uphill water coaster. But it seems in this case that they answered the question; what if the old Action park had a billion dollar budget? One cannot build extreme things with out extreme mathematics and a good bit of engineers skepticism. Normal Accidents are generally unavoidable and are the result of Incredibly complex systems operating in unpredictable patterns. This doesn't seem like a Normal Accident because you can attribute this death to one obvious cause; Overloading the of raft. To all involved and the public, overloading of the raft had very obvious consequences and the lack of control to prevent the most obvious failure to ride safety is most likely going to result at the minimum of a guilty of negligence verdict.

As for superman tower of power, It used to have a lot more power to the launch, A former mechanic at the park "retired" and good personal freind told me after I asked him the year it changed "2012 - 2013 i think" why it had lost its pop that they were no longer running the full allotment of air compressors to operate the ride to save on energy costs and dropped the operating PSI to match the reduced generating capacity. As for the Texas giant the no single rider in the back policy was instated after the indecent in which a woman fell from the ride. Yosemite Sam on the other hand has that policy to dissuade goofy teens from exiting the boats and vandalizing up the animations.

Looks like it is time to invest in the magniflux testing industry since a whole lot of KMG rides are most likely going to be getting a very through inspection. It is a quite a un fortunate accident and my prayers or with those affected. By the looks of the break in the picture on page 5, I cannot see anything that looks like tearing or bending along the break which also leads me to think that it is going to be a fatigue related failure. Merely speculation since, but often times rides like these are powder coated; powder coating creates a hard shell which can hide stress marks and fissures from the basic visual inspection. It would require Xray or ultrasound to reveal what the steel is like under the powder coat. I would be doubtful if many states require that level of inspection.

I foresee quite a few complaints on Shockwave if the VR doesn't give some sort of a heads up before the loops, they can be quite a surprise and cause some pretty good whiplash if you are not paying attention and holding your head back when the train pulls up into the first loop. I have had a few friends ride shock wave as their first looping coaster and get their head snapped forward to much discomfort.

In regards to the Water Bottle question, I have been told before at the gate not to bring one in. I'm not sure if it is park policy or not. But you can get free Ice water at any concision stand or restaurant just ask for a cup of water "don't let them sell you a bottle of water". Another good tip is to get a souvenir bottle with free refills for the day, then use the water cups to share the free refills among your friends.

Something about RMC and fast construction makes me really happy, also that first drop looks like a maneuver you would pull in a dog fighter.

They Haven't run the Judge Roy scream Backwards in years, I think the last time they did, was 02 or 03 around the same time they used the parks train as a haunted house .

Last week end We had a track building session out at the AV&W miniature railroad in Parker County Texas just west of DFW, well you may be asking what dose this have to do with theme parks and the Texas Giant? Well then! Have you ever wondered what happens to all of the creosote treated lumber after they take down your favorite Woodie, well It cant go to the dump and they cant burn it... So they store it and try to sell it, and we just happened to need a lot of creosote treated lumber, and one of our members just so happens to work for the company that carted away all of the trash wood from the Old Texas giant and he got us a great price on it. So now you ask what do we do with the old Texas giant? Well first we Cut it Up. And make it into railroad ties, And as you can see we have been making a lot of railroad ties. And those are used to make railroad track. And we need a lot of track. In Order to Carry these. So what is left of the Old Texas Giant is still giving rides just and carrying trains, a slower more level kind of ride and a train that is powered by steam. Maybe if you used a flat car on one of our hills you might get the same feel of the coaster probably not as rough though. We will be taking delivery of more Texas Giant at out next work session so I will look for any swag or markings on the lumber from the ride but most of it is the walk way planking so I doubt I will find much, but I hope this enlightens you as to what the old Gal is up to these days.

I have been informed that we were beat this year by a haunt up east, only due to budgeting issues and a change in fire code that caused use to have to redesign several old rooms to meet fire code and blow our budget so only a few of new rooms opened this year, but they only beat us by a few 100 feet by our guesstaments since we have yet to be measured this year. We still have the Pit "the maze" and our humongous bubble room this year though. Out of curiosity what time of the year did you come through last year?

Whats are your favorite Haunted houses that are not a part of a theme park? Whether it be a major top ten haunt or a local church or charity whats your favorite haunt that stands alone or is a part of small grouping of haunts "a haunt park"? My favorite would have to be the one where I work, The Cutting Edge in Fort Worth Texas, we are currently the Guinness Book World records longest haunted house in the world and is one of the top 10 in the country. Aaside from Dollywood, there are several railroads in Colorado that operate the coal burners and a few up east, but for many theme parks they are too dangerous. Coal likes to set fires all along the line due to ashes and cinders getting pulled through the stack that are still hot thus requiring many railroads to run a small fire car behind there trains for fire control which is more payroll along with the need to wash the coal to keep the dust down or the cab might blow up, you also have to remember that it requires much more skill to fire a coal burner thus requiring more training and practice along with proper facility's to handle the ashes and to add coal to the locomotives tender "cant pump a rock into the tender" so space is needed for a loader. you also need bigger engines to burn coal due to the inefficiency of burning coal in the smaller engines due to lack of draft in the fire box many of them were converted to oil in the early twenty's as soon as it was possible to so along with many engines of a larger size and larger engines mean more maintenance.

SFOT needs to be added since Ive operated the train there for the past 2 years, both engines are 114 years old and still running strong. Also Disney Land Ca needs to be added, Few people know that at Disney Land ca you are allowed to ride in the cab of the locomotive "on the tender technically" with the crew something no other park will allow due to insurance reasons and Disney Land only dose so because Walt Disney him self a rail fan wanted the public to see how the train operates. All you need to do to get the cab ride is to talk to the conductor at the Main Street station "you cannot get in the cab at any other station" and ask for the tender ride, you will only be able to ride if engines 1 or 2 are running that day "only ones with seats for riders" and if it is not a crew change time or refueling run "which are not often" you will then be belted in to a special seat in the cab for a round trip back to Main Street station. you can talk to the engineer/fireman and ask any questions you like while in the cab. this is the only park to allow this, at SFOT letting people in the cab while the train is moving was a firing offense so this is special.
