Check my posts again and find where have I stated that I was going on opening weekend? Everyone planning a trip to Dollywood for the next few weeks have the right to complain, since Dollywood never officially set a new date for Lightning Rod. Being an ACE rep doesn't mean that I have to overlook any park flaws or mistakes because "OMG they are getting a new coaster" or "OMG they have the best food ever". That's what fanboys do. On the contrary, real coaster enthusiasts point out the flaws in order to make the parks improve their way of doing business. Anyone with a rational view of things will understand that Dollywood is a business and should behave as such. If you purchase an airline ticket, the company has to take you from point A to point B on the scheduled time. If something happens and it's the airline's fault (issues with crew, maintenance, etc), they will put you on another flight. If the new flight is not what you expected, they will most likely issue you a travel voucher so you can travel with them again in the future, BECAUSE THEY ARE A BUSINESS THAT COULDN'T PROVIDE WHAT THE CUSTOMER PAID FOR. Dollywood is a business, they are not doing you or any of us any favors in selling us tickets and opening the rides on time. That's what we expect from them! -

If you are talking about me, I never said I was going on opening weekend. You haters jumped into that conclusion and started judging my "poor trip planning" - which is not so poor by the way As I stated before, being able to ride Lightning Rod or not was not the main reason I complained about the park (It took me 3 trips to CP until I could finally ride Dragster - and that was years after the ride opened). Same with SFMM's Deja Vu, which I only managed to ride on the last year of operation, after maybe 3 or 4 failed attempts the years before. If I can ride Lightning Rod on this trip, great, since it seems like it will be a top 10 coaster. However that doesn't change the fact that I still don't have a ticket to the park, since i can't purchase them online and that they still haven't replied a message I sent via their website 2 weeks ago. -

Yeah, I'm not gonna argue anymore..Trying to have a conversation with coaster fanboys is like trying to discuss politics with a Trump supporter. It's just not worth it. -

Cool, however this policy is published under "groups" (https://www.dollywood.com/Groups/Satisfaction) so it's unclear whether it's valid for regular single guests or not. I hope it does cause I'll definitely ask for one. -

If Dollywood had the amazing customer services that some people claim it does, they would give each paying customer who visits the park before Lightning Rod opens a free ticket to return to the park later this year. At this point that's the least they can do. -

As someones who works with international customers and deals with a payment system that can and will reject international credit cards, I can tell you it's frustrating for all parties but it 100% does not mean I am nor the people of Dollywood are giving you terrible customer service. I have found with any issue minor or frustrating I have had with bookings and various things with Dollywood their staff have always gone above and beyond to fix the issue or be helpful. - First the website doesn't take foreign credit cards - Then you decide to call, and there's only a 1-800 number, so you need to add Skype credits in order to make this call - The woman on the phone doesn't know why all my 5 credit cards were declined -They can't process a season pass in 6 easy payments over the phone, nor at the ticket office, Only online. - You can't message them through their Facebook page - It takes them 10 days to reply a message sent via their website - which by the way, they still haven't. If that's not terrible customer services, I don't know what is! I think you are failing to remember dollywood is not an international parl. It's not even a national park. How many people do you think, outside of the US, is clamoring to buy a season pass for them to have an international commerce site? Not once did you mention the people were rude to you or anything of that nature. That would be terrible customer service. I really don't foresee them making any changes to their current system. If you visit the US enough, I would personally suggest getting a US bank account where you can easily transfer your money into and out of to use for said purchases. First, the idea of opening a bank account just because Dollywood and it's sister park SDC are not prepared to deal with international customers is just insane. Specially because those were the only 2 parks in the US where I had this issue. Even the smaller parks (and I mean, the really small ones like Quassy or Andretti Thrill Park) are able to process a simple international transaction (Paypal?). Second, here's the irony on this situation: I decided to go for the season pass because I realized about 2 weeks ago that Lightning Rod would probably not be open, so I thought it was a good idea to buy the season pass, save some money and have a reason to go back later this year. Dollywood clearly doesn't want my business -

I already have all the other credits at Dollywood, except for Firechaser Express and the kiddie coasters around Pigeon Forge. And to be honest, there's nothing so extraordinary about that park that would make someone fly 6000 miles just to hang out there. Without Lightning Rod, Dollywood is just an OK park with terrible, TERRIBLE customer services. Also, as I said, if the not opening of Lightning Rod was the only issue with this trip, It wouldn't be so bad. This trip to Dollywood was a nightmare since my first attempt to purchase a season pass online. Edit: I wasn't trying to be the first to ride the coaster by the way. It's just a matter of logistics. All the other parks are not open yet, so it makes more sense to visit Dollywood and the surrounding parks now, and visit the parks with shorter operating days in the summer, specially considering that I can take one international trip every 3-4 months. -

To the people who say that the opening (or not opening) of a coaster is not something that should impact our lives deeply, let me remind you why we all ride coasters: We ride coasters and travel to amusement parks to take a break from our shitty daily lives. I'm upset not only because I'll be flying from Brazil just to -apparently- ride only kiddie coasters in Pigeon Forge, but also due to all the season pass/foreign credit card drama and everything that followed. Lately I've been having so many bad experiences with US parks (and some coaster people, from park employees to coaster fans) that traveling to the US is no longer fun. -
Do you know Monte Makaya in Terra Encantada?
Mrenata replied to RFV94's topic in Theme Parks, Roller Coasters, & Donkeys!
For now, all I can say is that it is not going to be scrapped (yet). However, this is the land where coasters come to die (Deja Vu, Chiller, Intamin's 10 inversion...) so don't get your hopes up. If it ever runs again, it will not be in the near future. -
With me it was the opposite. I used to not give a damn about credits. I used to visit the most famous parks around the world, ride he best rides at each one of them and simply ignore smaller parks. But the more I got into the hobby, the more i realized ANYTHING can be fun, from a record breaker coaster to a wacky worm. I've had more fun at smaller parks with just a kiddie coaster than at some major amusement parks in the US !

There are dozens of mini roller coasters in Brazil made for small children. Those coasters are built by several companies in Brazil and cost around USD20k each. They can be found at private birthday party places (like a FEC, with the exception that they only open for private parties), so unless you are invited to one of those parties, it's almost impossible to get those credits. And even if you are invited, they usually don't allow adults to ride due to weight restrictions and size restrictions. After insistently contacting those places, some of them let me ride the coasters, early in the morning during maintenance hours. Still, it was pretty embarassing 1)explaning why I wanted to ride those coasters 2) Trying to fit into some of those

It's so small you can't even face forward! I can't believe they let you ride like that. I hope it wasn't one of those super-jerky kiddie coasters or it looks like you'd be in for some serious pain. I guess that picture needs a little more context. Those tiny kiddie coaster are found at several places in Colombia (mostly super market parking lots). For a good $169.629,00 Colombian Pesos (or USD50) they will let you ride anything, anyway you want! lol That being said, yes, I banged my head several times and got some bruises all over my body. Sadly, as I said, there were several of them in Colombia and I ended up riding them at more than one location Yes... I'm a whore

Some of those pictures were from Beto Carrero's Facebook page, proper credit should've been given. Regarding B&R:The Chiller, there's a huge gap between what some people say the park is gonna do with the coaster and what it is really gonna happen. It took the park over a year to build a small themed area after Madagascar. They said the area would be ready by October, and when they realized they couldn't deliver it on time, they just stoped giving any more information on when it would open. The coaster is in storage for almost 2 years there + all those years it was "in storage" at SFGA. They never even mentioned they bought this coaster to the press or public. So, you don't need to be very clever to realize what's gonna happen

I still think it's Hong Hong, specially after the "new" clues: "If there is one thing I love, it's a good race!" > Hong Kong is know for its horse racing track "Happy horse year, everyone!" > China and Hong Kong celebrate the horse year "You know, we really like the UK..." > Hong Kong used to be a Brittish territory "There sure is a lot of ENGLISH here!"> English is common in Hong Kong "Oh, look... our plane is here!" > The plane has Fantasy written... Fantasy Island > Hong Kong is an Island. Ocean Kingdom is also located on an island. Ocean Park has a mine train Disneyland Hong Kong has a Space Mountain China hosted the Olympic Games. Also, Hong Kong was a co-host for the Olympic Games in Beijing, hosting the equestrian sports. Also, Robb said: "This may be our final clue for a while... BUT... it's a good one! If you figure out where this is you'll know EXACTLY Where in the World we are!" > where we are, intead of where we are going... so they could have been flying over India... Everyone is so sure it's India indeed that I'm gonna stick with Hong Kong + Zhuhai
-
You are going to Hong Kong, and then to Ocean Kingdom. Why? Delta Airlines has a flight from Detroit to Hong Kong. Hong Kong is just a 1 hour ferry ride to Zhuhai, where the new Ocean Kingom park is. The machine had the chinese currency symbol on it. Who wouldn't want to ride the new B&M coaster and make the first official good quality POV, right?
