Update Year 1 Orleans Place Boardwalk's first season is quickly coming to an end! It's getting colder outside and soon only a few rides will be operating along with the restaurants. The line for Screwball is a long one! What a time to ride! Whatever this is will be announced on Wednesday! I've been told everything from a compact invert to a dive machine - it really could be anything!

Update Year 1 We've got a couple days left before our "off season" where only select rides will operate along with the restaurants, but construction for next year's addition is well underway! Groundwork is visible all along the parking lot and across from the House of Blues. Whatever it's gonna be, it's gonna be big! I was told yesterday that teaser signs have been delivered to the park. Here are what some of them say: "Effin' Bad A. Makes a Comeback" "Crowd diving is ALWAYS fun!" "My drug is adrenaline." "My guitar is only second to beautiful women." JUST GOT THIS PICTURE SENT TO ME - TRACK HAS ARRIVED! Let the speculation begin!

Here's my review of the DVDs. You can read the full review here. Coaster Expedition Volume 11 Japan-a-Mania 2 The first Theme Park Review DVD that I purchased was Japan-a-Mania Volume 1. I was a little worried that this one wouldn't be as good as the first. I mean come on, Japan's not that big of a country. What all could change in a few years? However by the time I saw the first video, I could tell this video was going to be even better than the first. Robb and Elissa and their gang don't just "go" to a theme park with their camera, they go INSIDE a park and find all of the cool stuff you'd never even think of looking for. And what better place to look for weird cool stuff than Japan? You want more than coasters? Japan-a-Mania 2 has all this weird quirky stuff and more. Even though the smaller, lesser-known parks are great, the two park videos that always blow me away are Tokyo Disney Resort and Universal Studios Japan. After watching the Tokyo Disney Resort video, I felt like I had actually taken a short trip there. That's how well these folks document the parks. However, don't think you're going to get that crummy stail Travel Channel feel, because you're not. A Coaster Expedition DVD is a DVD like no other. I highly recommend it. If you love Theme Park Review, then you will love this DVD. Roller Coasters In the Raw Volume 2 I hadn't paid much attention to what people thought about the first edition of Roller Coasters In the Raw. I thought, "Hey, I can watch videos of these rides anywhere!" Wrong. These videos are so professionally done that if I hadn't known it was Theme Park Review, I would have thought that these videos were videos that a park had released or even something that was on Travel Channel. If you want the coasters and only the coasters, this is the DVD for you. You got the quality of the Travel Channel without the annoying commentary! What more could you ask for? My favorite videos from the DVD are Mystery Mine, Silver Star, and Collosos, but all of them are really great videos. Roller Coasters In the Raw makes a great gift for a coaster lover who might not be familiar with the Theme Park Review antics.

Six Flags Haircuts?!
coasterdude5 replied to Jds03's topic in Theme Parks, Roller Coasters, & Donkeys!
It'd be pretty awesome if they had some B&M shoulder restraints that you'd pull down as you got your hair cut. But then it'd be hard to cut all of your hair. Maybe a lap bar would work better. I don't get it, but maybe it'll work. -
My TPR package came via meteor today! So far I've only watched half of Roller Coasters: In The Raw Volume 2 so I'll post a formal review later. Here's what all was in it: (the magnet's already on the fridge... right next to my A+ in life) I miss the handwriting because I felt like I was getting an autograph from a famous person, except they were writing my name. This way's cool, too, though!

Why Cedar Fair?
coasterdude5 replied to the ghost's topic in Theme Parks, Roller Coasters, & Donkeys!
^ That's part of my problem with Cedar Fair. They (from what I can see) tend to hold themselves above everyone else. However I can't say much, because I've never been to a Cedar Fair park. That will change this summer! -

If Sarah Palin runs for president, then, yes.

Update Year 1 Hello everybody! I just got back from another afternoon at the park. The Bounce is a huge hit with the kids. This ride is always fun to watch. I believe he's a bit too old to be riding this ride. Barracuda provides some great views of the area below. Check back soon for more. We should begin to see construction pretty soon.

I'm not sure if they would have the time to remove the rides every time a storm threatened. I'm sure they would have to start work on removing them at least a week in advance. Then there's the possibility that the storm would completely miss the area. I'm not saying it's not a good idea but that might be more work than it's worth. It's great to see they'll be getting a Larson tower!

Just curious, for old times' sake, could you see any of this color coming through? -
Mystery Mine...IN THE RAW!!!

Excellent video, the POV was top-notch, (as a TPR video should be!). I wish it was that smooth riding it in person... -
Quantum of Solace (Bond 22) Discussion Thread
coasterdude5 replied to RIP Psyclone's topic in Random, Random, Random
^ But wasn't that getting a bit old? I watched Die Another Day on Spike last night and I was thinking, "this is laughable". Casino Royale was a relaunch of the franchise. They're moving in a new direction and I see nothing wrong with it. However, I can see where you are coming from. I'm one that usually likes to keep things the way they are but for some reason I'm alright with this new style of Bond. -
Quantum of Solace 10.0/10.0 This move was PERFECT. The plot was easier to follow than Casino Royale. There were more action scenes and less "poker" scenes. The way in which the movie was filmed was very "artistic" and different. Especially the audio, it was very well-done. The beginning was great, the middle was great, and the ending was great. The bond girls were hot, as always. I highly suggest you go see it if you haven't already.

I'm glad it's back in Orlando. That's where it belongs, IMO. -
Photos from Cypress Gardens closing weekend

It's a shame this place (or part of it) is closing. Yeah, it doesn't have the best selection of rides, but id does look like a nice park. -
Theme Park Careers

D'oh! I didn't search in the random forum. There is alot of great information in there! UCF seems perfect... I think I'll apply there even though I'm pretty sure I'm going to Memphis. (money...) They'd have to offer me a great deal, but in a perfect world I'd probably go there. I can always transfer down the road. -

Hey you can't cut everything out. I could think of alot worse things than those drinks at Starbucks. Gotta have a reward for yourself, even the folks at The Biggest Loser get those. -
Theme Park Careers
coasterdude5 replied to ETapley0687's topic in Theme Parks, Roller Coasters, & Donkeys!
Thanks, Cathy! That post helped alot, I had never thought of the job in that sense. Luckily, the hotel business is booming, so if I am never able to manage a park, I'll still get a great job that I am interested in.
