  1. I'm using DSL and I was able to view the forum and upload pictures to Imageshack.
  2. ^ At times, yes. But then when I went to fix the supports, there wasn't as much. Go figure.
  3. That's the one good thing about getting sick! This is somewhat of an off-topic question, but it's been bugging me. You said that you all don't really have a traditional "Thanksgiving". Is that common on the west coast? It'd be fine with me. I think Thanksgiving's become (for some) all about seeing how much food you can cook and stuff in your face in the least amount of time. Keep up the losage. Is that even a word?
  4. It was a great video! It had alot of songs in it that I had forgotten about. Plus the actual coaster stuff was awesome as always.
  5. If it saves alot bandwidth, I'd say stick with it. If it's not that big of a difference then go with the direct file.
  6. Thanks guys! I wanted the station to be a mansion, so it would differentiate from the "concert" theme that RnRC sorta has. The colors are based on Orleans Place Boardwalk's colors of black and white, since this is now the flagship ride of the park. Update Year 2 Hello again! Hard Rockin' is a hit! The ride takes it's wrath far away from the actual boardwalk. Because the owners didn't want the ride actually ON the boardwalk, the ride's lifthill was built facing away from Lake Ponchartrain but you get a nice view of it while you're screaming over the hills! Check back soon for more Hard Rockin' Roller Coaster!
  7. Mine took a while but it came, it was in my spam folder for some reason. Yahoo's weird sometimes. Thanks again Robb and Elissa! I'm about halfway through the download. You two are the coolest people I know!
  8. Happy Thanksgiving TPR! I hate turkey, but Honey Baked Ham is awesome, so it all worked out for me.
  9. This is awesome Robb! I've always wanted to see the first one, and now I'll have the opportunity to do so! But no standing in line with this deal!
  10. ^ When I went last year Lion was the only side operating.
  11. I remember the first day I saw Solar Flare. I had just returned from a job transfer that took me to Virginia. I thought to myself, "this is what this park needs." I knew right then that this ride would save this park from what had been a rapid decline, with so many rides closing. I remember the original concept they had tossed around for this ride... It would have been basically two "Solar Flares" except the stations would have been on opposite ends, so they would have launch towards eachother, passing at the top of the first hill. It would have been green/black supports and blue/black supports. It wasn't meant to be, though. Hawaiian Escape, I believe, wouldn't have recoverd had Solar Flare never come to be. When it was added, there were so few coasters at the park that this was one of the tallest. I think the executives made a very wise decision. However, as you can see, something went wrong between Solar Flare and Year 55. What was it? Did the park simply lose steam? Had they done all that they could do? 55 years is a good number of years, but what would have happened if they had made it to Year 100? Its sister park did it! Did Hawaii not have a good enough market? Did Worlds of Hawaii steal Hawaiian Escape's thunder? Now that I'm dead, I can reveal to you what Project Emerald was really going to be: A 4D coaster. It would have been nearly identical to X. Not that great, but I'm sure it would have brought in some crowds. - Your fellow Hawaiian Escape fan
  12. Update Year 2 Welcome back! Hard Rockin' Roller Coaster is open! As you approach the ride you come across the new Hard Rock Plaza. It features... you guessed it: music stuff. The "mansion" is built high off the ground so you gotta climb some stairs to get to it. More Hard Rockin' Roller Coaster soon!
  13. Haha "ghettoblaster". That was awesome!
  14. Nice update! What are those things sticking out of the concrete in the lagoon?
  15. Great trip report! That little curve Kumba's got looks really cool. I think they repainted it a couple of years ago but I could be mistaking it for another ride.
  16. ^ The ride isn't "on" the boardwalk. It's far away from it, actually. I have fixed and revamped the supports. They will be featured in tomorrow's update.
  17. I can remove some, but that's about it. The lag in this park is simply too bad to focus on detailed support work.
  18. Theme Park Review got my votes!
  19. I think Memphis is gonna be a team to watch this year. We might be almost all-rookies, but we've been playing more like a NCAA team, which isn't always a bad thing.
  20. While I would like to see this park reopen and be given a second chance, what has been presented so far doesn't look too good for the park. It's weird though, I've always had this thought in my head that "any park with a B&M is a success". That died though, last year with Geauga Lake. I still thought this park would have been too big and too corporate to go under, at least this quickly.
  21. Update Year 1 Welcome to the final day of our first year of operation. Some of the rides will be closing down for the "winter" but you can still come and check out the restaurants and other stuff the Boardwalk has to offer! The boardwalk was crowded today despite the cold conditions, for New Orleans, anyway. This classic ride still delivers the screams! Check back tomorrow for the announcement!
  22. I like when videos show the full lift hill. It sorta builds me up for the rest of the ride, even though I'm not really riding it.
  23. Hello there! It's been quite a while, hasn't it? I left you nearly twenty years ago when the park closed. So... what all has happened since then? Well, I enjoyed my retirement and eventually passed away peacefullt with my family surrounding me. So, yes, you are talking to a "ghost". I was an old man, you knew it was coming! I was glad that my younger friend could continue zoo and waterpark updates for you, though. I miss Hawaiian Escape. I often venture back through my own memories to go down memory lane. I enjoyed being able to bring you construction updates, it was very exciting. The park seemed to grow with me. It opened when I was only twelve, and closed when I was sixty-seven. It was like we grew up together. When the park closed, I felt like it was a piece of me that had died. There was no real reason for it to close. They were in a bit of a slump, but they came out of the post-Peregrine slump just fine! I believe that original plan to replace the park with a mall (remember that?) never quite died. Obviously, it was modified as there was no mall, but it still closed the park nonetheless. But to be honest, the park was most alive when it first opened. Hershey kept the "small park" vibe for a while, but it died quickly with the addition of Sulfur. Most of the rides are operating at other parks today. Solar Flare went to Bayside Boardwalk, Tidal Wave is operating at Worlds of Hawaii just down the road, plus many rides are now at Hersheypark, which is still operating. But I decided to return to Hershey Hawaii for the first time since I left. Though I will be unseen, I will be able to walk what's left of the area. Perhaps I can pick up on some things that were left over. The resort is opening a Christmas exhibit for the month of December so I thought this would be the perfect time to go. It looks interesting so far, I will keep you up to date with my journey. - Your fellow Hawaiian Escape fan
