  1. TPR finished off the 2010 Europe Trip at Efteling, where they had ERT on the park's brand new GCI, which comes complete with a dragon! Let's have a look, shall we? Good morning world! Theme Park Review is at Efteling in Holland! TPR starts out with over an hour of ERT on the world's newest wooden roller coaster and the first racing woodie to be built in ten years: George and the Dragon or Joris en de Draak. There are two tracks - water and fire. The Dragon or Draak was seriously bad ass. TPR got in a lot of rides this morning. Oh yeah, we also had ERT on The Flying Dutchman. Which one is George and which one is Dragon? If you know...EMAIL DAN! mrt0ad13@aol.com Big thanks to Joe Draves from GCI for hanging out with us today! Great job on the new coaster, guys! TPR is loving Joris en de Draak! AWESOME!!! Joe loves his new coaster too! Two different tracks - "Water" on the left, and "Fire" on the right. "You guys are going DOWN!!!" It's a race to the finish! THE WINNERS!!! Can you guys win two in a row? "LOSERS!!!!" The finish line! Joris en de Draak is serious fun! And props to the park and GCI for the train modifications to allow a lower height restriction than other GCI woodies. (You only need to be about 44" to ride.) The view from across the lake. The turn around before the first drop. It's a thing of beauty! And now some POV photos! First Drop!!! What lovely curves you have. Some pops of airtime. Now I can see some wood and steel. Lots of wood! Is that some reverse banking I see? Here we go again... The ride is just "hands up, lots of fun" all around! Joris en de Draak is the PERFECT ride for Efteling! It's fast, out-of-control fun, but not so intense that younger riders can enjoy it too! And did we mention the theming, station, and landscaping looks great as well? Great job GCI and Efteling! TPR Europe Trip is over...time to get effing drunk! Piers’s wet dream.
  2. ^Probably Jason--along with me and Kerry.
  3. ^That may depend on what backstage area you're in. I understand that Disney frowns on pictures taken of Mickey or Minnie with their heads off, for example.
  4. ^That's in the Denbigh section of Newport News. If it's near the airport, it's a short drive to the park. There's a lot of traffic in that area because it's a big retail corridor, and there are a number of new hotels around there and plenty of restaurants. Orbitz will actually tell you what hotel you're getting, if you want to try again.
  5. ^Hmm--as I recall, Nightmare Before Christmas was a fairly substantial hit in theatres (a sleeper). Newsies did, indeed, bomb completely.
  6. Usually, the hotels near the park are a bit more expensive than those on the Richmond Road tourist strip, which have easier access to restaurants (that is, it's easier to walk around). You can probably get a good deal via Orbitz, Hotwire, or some other Internet site. Stay away from any of the hotels in LIghtfoot (they're usually dumps)--this is where the Outlet Mall and the Williamsburg Pottery are located. Stay away from the Family Inn, too--unless you enjoy being right next to the railroad tracks. Second Street (also called Rt. 143) isn't a great area, either (but it isn't far from the park).
  7. Robb and Elissa have been in the Europe for the last couple of weeks running a TPR tour; therefore, they are unable to replace your disc at this time. I'm sure that they take care of the problem as soon as they can when they return. Thank you.
  8. My brother and I were quite amazed when a whole crew of janitors swarmed into each London Eye capsule to clean it out between groups back in 2004.
  9. She is now "00" licensed to kill!
  10. ^Friday is probably best, but it should be a pretty busy weekend. You can always spring for Unlimited Quick Queue.
  11. Rick, you're whetting my appetite for TPR's Mid-America Trip here--thanks!
  12. We have already have a thread devoted to this new attraction: http://themeparkreview.com/forum/viewtopic.php?f=2&t=50702. Please post your comments there--thank you.
  13. iSpeed looks like a mad scientist fused together the best parts of Stealth, Piraten, and Maverick--no complaints about that. Why was the shooting part of Reset "pointless"?
  14. Your question has been answered, so I've locked the topic.
  15. I rode Big Bad Wolf during a snow storm once . . . oh wait, can't do that anymore. I know that if the temperature drops below 42 degrees, they can't run Alpengeist or Griffon (I imagine the same applies to Apollo's Chariot). Griffon was running during Christmas Town, if it was warm enough.
  16. "I'm 'a Wario! I'm a' gonna win!"
  17. The topic of this thread is Kings Dominion--not the word filter. Please stay on topic. Thank you.
  18. How is that possible? The world cup is every four years, not two! I stand corrected--don't follow the game much (except by accident).
  19. ^You answered your own question. Don't use that combination of letters again. Just like Shakespearean actors never mention the name of the "Scottish play"--it's bad luck!
  20. Glad to hear that Saw: The Ride delivered. The world needs more themed Eurofighters. How was Saw: The Maze? As for all those watching the World Cup, that's nice. As for me, if the choice is watchin' or a'ridin,' I'm a'ridin'. (It was fun watching the World Cup final in Phantasialand's western saloon back on '08, though.)
  21. ^Interesting. Christmas Town extended the park's "season" all the way until the end of December last year. I'm not sure how well this would work during the rest of the winter. Colonial Williamsburg lays off quite a few employees from Janaury until March because of reduced hours and business. Williamsburg does tend to be pretty quiet until the spring, when the school groups start arriving again.
  22. They were in the morning, but not in the afternoon.
  23. I went up to KD today to check out these new restraints for myself, and I have to say that the park has made a wise choice. The straps definitely eliminate the "neck chopping" some folks were complaining about earlier and are a excellent addition to I-305. The ride was a walkon for most of the day (the park wasn't too busy, probably thanks to the brutal heat and humidity, but I did bump into fellow TPR member Dave Lawrence--haven't seen him since the Scandi trip last year). Thanks for hanging out with me, Dave. All in all, I-305 is still a fantastic ride, and our last ride of the day was particularly great. Here are a few pictures. Trottin' over to I-305 first thing. Strappy strap strap! And away they go! They seemed to be having some lifthill problems this morning, as a number of trains would stop just short of the top for moment, then head over. (Appeared to be resolved later in the day.) World . . . growing . . . dim . . . never mind, it's OK now! These "twisty" bits are no longer a problem. (Personally, I was OK with the old restraints, but these new ones are good.) Why, look--it's Dave! Lots of happy riders--and not much of a line, at all. And now, KD's "World of Color"! (The bit of spray from these sprinklers was actually welcome today--whew, it was a hot one!)
  24. Jolly Roger's also has one of the lamest dark rides anywhere--unless your greatest fear is riding around in a mostly empty aluminum box during a heatwave. (The Trimper's dark ride is very good, though.)
  25. It states clearly here that the discounts for both parks apply only to the Club TPR member. Be sure to check the benefits thread in the Club TPR Forum if you have any similar questions. So you'll probably need those other discount tickets. Thank you, and have a great time at Canada's Wonderland and Darian Lake.
