The topic of this thread is Kings Dominion, not Cedar Point. Please stay on topic--everyone. -

I'd be happy if they just took all the Haunt stuff out of the FoF queue during the regular season. -

I think I would've gone absolutely nuts at this place. Thanks for the report, Larry. -

I only wish that I could've been there, Robb. -

^Attach that shopping cart to a huge rubberband and make it a launched coaster--that's another credit! -

I didn't start experiencing any serious "trip envy" until I saw the update from the fair--that looked like one amazing night with something for everybody. Olympia Looping! Beer tent! Food! The psychedelic walkthrough! What's not to like? -

Everyone needs to stop this now. There have been enough flame wars in this thread in the past--a new one will not be tolerated. Imbordisux, I'm sorry that you had a lousy day at Kings Dominion, and I understand many of your criticisms. But posting such a long critique of that day does invite criticism in return. You've had your say, as have others. Time to move on. Chuck Site Moderator -

The last time I checked, 93 > 50. Ergo, "over 50 years old" is still correct. No need to be so picky. -

^I've found that the backseat is usually the best on the B&M hypers, and Intimidator is no exception (esp. true for Apollo's Chariot). I really like SFOG, but was rather amused when I wandered into the men's room near Goliath and disrupted a crap game--dice were being flung and money was being slapped on the floor. At least they weren't throwing actual crap. -

This wheel was part of a important scene in Carol Reed's classic movie The Third Man starring Joseph Cotton and Orson Welles. Very cool to see how it appears now--doesn't seem to have changed much since the late 1940s. I'd post a You Tube link to the scene, but it would spoil the whole plot of the movie if you haven't seen it. I think this park was featured in The Living Daylights, too (the first Timothy Dalton James Bond movie). -

Carowinds is a nice park, and I think Intimidator is just what it needed (and Afterburn is still an excellent invert). I agree about Boo Blasters, too--nice to see that Cedar Fair gave these rides a little upgrade, rather than just ripping Scooby and the gang out. -

I've lived in Virginia since the mid-1980s, and I feel that KD has lost a lot of charm since then by becoming more of thrill park and less of a theme park. I think it's best visited before "heat advisory season" begins, too. -

That side-friction coaster looks like a roller coaster version of Storybookland--very nice. -

^It's the end times, I tells ya! I think any flat ride with a six-minute cycle would probably kill me (or at least put me off eating forever, which would, of course, kill me). -

Quoted for truth! I love this park! That walkthrough cave that interacts with the powered coaster and the log ride is one my favorite spots there. -
East Coast Bash - Kings Dominion - August 22nd!

^Depends. If you're just doing to ECB, there are some nice new hotels right across the street from the park and a Best Western in KD's parking lot. If you're planning to make a weekend of it by going to BGW too, you might want to stay in Williamsburg. There's a good-sized strip of motels and chain restaurants one exit south of KD in Ashland, as well. -
This is like something from the old Tom Green Show. This is not meant as a compliment.

Same Same Same Same. I detect a "sameness" to this response. Europa Park is excellent--my favorite of TPR's Europe Trip in 2008. I echo what Elissa, Robb, and Dave have said--visit this place now! -

^As I recall, the rider was developmentally disabled and managed to squirm out of his restraint.
