Moreys Piers Discussion Thread

You can have the best track work in the world, but if your rolling stock sucks, well, it won't mean anything. Unless the trains are vastly different, they will shuffle around the new "smoother" track the same as before. I'm very skeptical of this. I'm okay with no GCI. Give me an RMC with a zero g stall over the beach from pier to pier. Sent from my iPhone using Tapatalk -

Holy crap. I drove past it a few months back, and didn't realize how close that house is. I don't know if I would love to live that close to a ride or hate it. Sent from my iPhone using Tapatalk -

Zierer vs Miler is actually an interesting comparison. Miler built a coaster nearly to the scale of Impulse, Verbolten, Wicked, etc. over 20 years ago. But instead of completely starting from scratch with the design, they simply scaled up their kiddy coaster design with the funky c-beam track. The result looks wonderfully terrifying and is absolutely on my coaster bucket list. But it didn't really catch on, or allow Miler to grow into a bigger company. Zierer, on the other hand, moved in the direction of more expensive, refined, sturdy designs instead of scaling up Flitzers or Tivolis. This seems to have allowed to them to grow as a company and win bigger contracts more frequently. To get back on topic, I'm surprised the consensus on Gale Force + Miler is "ugly". I think the "mess" of supports looks awesome. Can't wait for the project to finish up. I'll probably do an Atlantic City/Ocean City trip next year as I've never been. What is this large miler you speak of? Sent from my iPhone using Tapatalk -
The worst part about hydra is that it replaced Hercules. That ride was massive and on a great location. Surely its replacement would take advantage of the same terrain, as well as live up to its predecessor's size. Nope. We went from being beat physically into unconsciousness to being bored to sleep. Rail Blazer At Six Flags St. Louis

Wait. That last photo, the train says "worlds of fun" and the track is blue with white supports...Did those stand up trains make it onto an arrow looping coaster? -

The ride is about 20 years and sits next to the ocean. it goes through brutal winters and doesn't have much shelter from the elements. There was probably significant track work that needed to be done for maintenance anyways. They are also making moves with rides and buildings on the pier, making room for the future woody. -

. Being shoehorned into the water park area, maybe they realized there isn't much more of an option for a new ride there. New trains and new track could make it ride like new. I don't see a negative to this one bit. -

Ive said it before and I will say it again. A RMC zero g stall between piers would be insane. -
I do take back the negative statements I made about aesthetics, looks pretty nice. Should we start making bets on if the grass in the video actually shows up on the real thing? Just kidding... I am still way more excited about the new launched el loco that the tiny boardwalk park in ocean city is adding, but I accept this addition. If this kicks off a trend of GADV rehabbing areas of the park, I am all for it.

I wasn't with him, but I did see him waiting for the last row early on. Neither of us wear coaster shirts (and he's only a borderline enthusiast ). I probably saw you at some point though. I have to agree about SFA. Its my home park and it's definitely getting better/less easy to make fun of. One more really top tier coaster like an El Toro clone (or an RMC) could make that a good lineup, along with more two train ops and some trees. Boldikus, I'll probably make it to SFA one more time this season during/around Fright Fest at some point. Let me know if your plans work out, but yes definitely get to Hershey before SFA lol. Please don't mention RMC and SFA together! Knowing six flags they will end up giving wild one the treatment instead of roar!

That actually ended up not to be true. After the processing fee and tax, the online ticket came to about $51. I ended up buying at the park with a Subway coupon for $47.99. I ended up having a really terrible overall experience at the park yesterday. I've always heard about Saturday crowds, and they were in full force, and quite a "rough" crowd too - Definitely worse than anything I've ever experienced at Great Adventure. I encountered some of the most class-less and unfriendly people yesterday, and in conjunction with terrible service, horrible employees/lifeguards (I watched a grown man collide with a young girl going down a water slide because the lifeguard was clearly more preoccupied with coworkers than keeping people safe), and the absolutely astronomical prices, I'm going to stay away from Dorney for quite a while. Six Flags has proven to be (shockingly) better at providing a consistent, mostly pleasant experience with spectacular rides. End rant. Allentown is a pretty rough city. The downtown area is on its way to becoming the Camden, NJ of the Poconos.

A small jersey shore park gets a coaster that I'm more excited about than what sfgadv is rumored to get. -
I love snowboarding even more than coasters. While I mainly ride in the Poconos, This year I did a lot of backcountry in the Stowe area. The east coast had been epic the past few years
