Legoland Discovery Centre in Toronto
SoCalCoasters replied to taytig's topic in Theme Parks, Roller Coasters, & Donkeys!
^ I wouldn't count on this turning into a full scale Lego Park. Merlin is focusing on finishing Legoland Malaysia and starting on Legoland Japan which tenetively opens in 2016. These discovery centers have been popping up all over North America the past several years. These usually consist of a dark ride, mini land, Lego factory, and 4D theater along with other things. -
And here's another reality check - there is really no need to continue telling people how awesome the ride is, as though no awesome ride has ever been built before... Because I got two words for you.... LAVA. FU*KING. MONSTER. Yeah, so there. /end rant. --Robb "Sorry, I just really hate the 'we are better than you' attitude of many Californians sometimes...I just had to say something." Alvey I think my post got a little mis-interpreted...my wording there was rather poor. I'm not an über Disney fanboy and I don't frequent the park. I do however feel that Carsland is the first attraction in quite a long time that the resort can be proud of. Finally I don't have to listen to a conversation where everyone says ever aspect of WDW is better than DLR. What I meant was, while it may not be Journey or Test Track, it is a fantastic attraction worthy of monumental praise, the likes of which hasn't been seen since Indy opened. I'm not saying WDW doesn't deserve praise, but it's nice to finally have an attraction that can stack up to some of the larger WDW rides. Frankly I get tired of hearing the WDW fanboys brag about Everest or Test Track to no end so I guess it can go both ways.... Sorry for causing the rant.

^ It was determined that the cause of the accident was the rider attempting to free himself from the restraint. If it's not operating right now perhaps they've ordered new cars from Miller or are doing some modifications to the restraints to ensure an accident like this never happens again? I highly doubt they'll just throw the coaster away, especially considering how dang popular/high capacity the ride is with the public. Maybe they're keeping it off the circuit so people forget the accident....I dunno. I really love the Hi Miler and would hate to see it gone... -

Hey guys. This park has been under a major amount of lag lately, and until I get a new computer, this park is officially on hold/finished. If there's any interest in the park I might finish it up once I get a new computer, but currently I don't have the drive nor the time... Thanks for understanding/Does anyone even care? -

Magnum, the Mondial Shake is always fantastic. The KMG Tango is insane as always... Unfortunately, I heard from a friend that they shortened and lowered the intensity of the Evolution's ride cycle....which is a major bummer considering just how amazing that thing runs...I wonder if this has to do with the incident that happened on that Evolution in Europe last year as I heard the part of the ride cycle that was removed was the section where the kid supposedly fell out... -
When have I bashed your parks over at RCT Lounge? I did not mean to come off as rude. What I was saying by making it your own meant that you should add your own flare or style into your work. It appeared as if not much of your own creativity or style was added to the park with your first update. Seeing the park now however it is looking much better. Just try and make the park "your own" as I said before. Make it so people recognize it as "Bryce's Disney Park" rather than "just another Disney Park". That's all I was trying to say and I apologize if I came off rude, it was not my intention. I do have a bit of a bad habit to make comments that appear rude without elaboration and I apologize. Sometimes there are park where I am really blunt about things, even when I am not trying to be.

If you haven't already, I would enable the lower physics to get the speed a bit better. Besides being a bit longer than most GCIs, I don't think I would have noticed had the speed gone up. Overall very solid job. -

Legoland Florida Discussion Thread
SoCalCoasters replied to robbalvey's topic in Theme Parks, Roller Coasters, & Donkeys!
Legoland doesn't have the funds that Disney or Universal has. The entire Legoland Florida property was a giant renovation, and before adding extensive expansions to the Waterpark, they focused on opening what infrastructure was already there. Legoland Parks are not Disney or Universal Parks, they are built specifically for an audience of kids. The parks are not as heavily themed as larger competitors, but they aren't meant to be. Not to mention that many Legoland attractions usually get better after being open for a bit. Usually more bits of theming get added and the folige has the opportunity to grow in. I always use the example of Coastersaurus. That thing was a desert when it opened, but after a year it was in a forest. I feel like you are expecting too much from the parks. Look at Legoland CA's new attraction, Pirate Reef. The ride has fantastic theming that fits in with the rest of the park's level of theming. It's no Pirates of the Carribean, but from Legoland it is good. It's lik expecting the capacity of Olympia Looping from an Arrow Mine train. -
I'm going to be brutally honest. If I'm a little too honest, mods feel free to ask me to tone it down. Your park, in its current state, it the absolute epitome of mediocrity. It appears as if you have put little work into each update. Not only that, but you continue to ignore all the advice that has been given to you by members on this site. Take their advice! Your park needs improvement. Try to add more details and work into your rides and their surroundings. AKA: Make them look astatically pleasing. Stop with all the updates! We do not need to see a 30+ picture post of the same things every day! Update when you have new stuff to show or if you are doing a "park update" limit it to 5-10 photos! That is all, I apologize for coming off so harsh.

Now that E3 has begun, it's beginning to look like the Wii U has a heck of a lot more potential than everyone thought. After seeing all the amazing stuff Nintendo and third party developers have been showing off, I have to say I'm hooked!

I like the Batman Ride, however, I'd suggest using a different Ride sign as the one you currently have doesn't fit in to the surroundings. -

^Oh my! Are any of those show elements (ie: the projectors, dramatic lighting, fountains etc) a permanent feature of the attraction? That's quite the opening ceremony! -
Best looking Big Apple?

Wow! That actually looks really really nice! It's always great to see parks go the extra mile and spice their rides up a bit! -
Nope. What you are looking at is the rider cart only. It looks like right now they are "pulling through" the rider cart to make sure everything rides smoothly on the track. There is a catch car ABOVE the rider cart (circled in yellow below). This is what is connected to the cables, what pulls you up, releases from the rider cart and lets you go. I assume after this initial testing is done, we will see both the catch car installed, and the large pulley wheel which will have the 2 lift cables run through it. It appears what is being used right now is for construction and pull-through testing purposes only. Um..I'm pretty sure you see the actual catch car in the photos SFMM released. Yes they are indeed doing a pull through like most Intamin attractions, and it does have extra catwalks attatched, but you can clearly see the catch car.

On the contrary V2 is actually pretty well integrated into the park. It interacts quite nicely with the entrance area. I actually like the ride and many will probably agree that it is the best impulse out there. Also much of the Medusa Parking Lot got torn up when they put in Sky Screamer, it's really not that bad. Kong is Kong, and the park did say that once the trains on it reach the end of their life span that they would look into new options. (aka Vest Trains) The path setup was from before the park was an amusement park, when the focus was more on a zoo.

Manta Review (In depth) I'll start out by saying I try to look mainly for the positive aspect in attractions, and am not as easily swayed by one or two flaws, especially on opening weekend. Manta really was the perfect attraction for SeaWorld San Diego. Despite only rising around 30ft, the ride can be seen from many areas of the park. While the landscaping being obviously unfinished, it was already showing potential to look quite nice. The best example of "don't judge the landscape" I can think of is Coastersaurus at Legoland California. Opening day, that ride was a desert. A year later however the plants had grown in and turned it into a jungle! The dirt plot everyone is mentioning won't be there for long, as it appeared the landscapers were working backwards from the front attraction towards the back. I have a feeling we will see it fully landscaped within a few weeks. Onto the actual attraction. The entrance and queue was a really nice treat. The entrance to the ride is to the right of the "Manta Rock" and then the queue takes you down a path right next to the water splash effect the coaster passes as it dives underneath the bridge on its first drop. The theming was actually quite well done and featured pretty extensive rock work. After passing the water splash, you enter the aquarium section of the queue. The theming here also held the Asian motif that the rest of the ride features as well. I can't judge the aquarium too well yet as the park is still in the process of adding more animals to the exhibit and the water quality was still being adjusted/tweaked. There is a criticism about this section that I will address further on. After exiting the aquarium, you enter a small entryway with hanging tiles created by kids for the attraction. After passing this, you enter a "pit" of sorts. A section of Manta soars above and you pass through a set of nicely themed switchbacks that ascend the hillside towards the station. You can hear the event building from all around the attraction, it's extremely loud! I must say the capacity for this attraction was absolutely unbelievable. With four trains running we managed to get four rides in by the end of the day, waiting no longer than 30 minutes each time. They mentioned to the guests in the station that they had hit their highest through-put ever, 1407 people! That's almost 40 second dispatches every time! The station had very nice theming. Continuing with the Asian theme, the pagoda station feature some very nice Manta murals in the curved roof. I'd say wait for the front and back. The line for the front may appear long, but we only waited an extra 5 minutes with a full front row switchback. With the way they haul through people, it's worth the little extra wait. The staff were extremely motivated and hurried people through, without making them feel overly rushed. The ride trains themselves are beautiful, as well as the overall ride. The Manta design on the front is very attractive, and the seats were very comfy. The on ride cameras weren't quite ready yet, but some cars seemed to have them mounted already. A weird thing I saw was the jury-rigged numbering they had. Each train had a laminated piece of paper with its number zip tied to the front grill. The ride starts, and you move into a pitch black tunnel that leads you to the projection room. This part of the attraction was really fun. The train "sways" back and forth in the current as Mantas swim around you and high energy music swirls about. The projection can look a bit washed out, but if you don't focus on it, it's not that noticeable. The doors open, and you launch. The launch itself isn't very intense, but fun none the less. After exiting the launch track, you rise into a 90° banked curve and dive down into the water below the entry bridge. Following the dive, you rise once again into another 90° curve around the Manta rock and curve into one of two great airtime pops on the ride. In the back row, I'd say the airtime is almost ejector here. After another hill, and a few most meandering banks around towards Shipwreak, you are braked slightly, and then enter the second half of the layout. After being launched again, you are quickly thrown into a vicious left turn. This section of the ride had a much more force than the first half. After exiting the turn you rise into another hill with slight airtime before being whipped downward to the right. Continuing the curve, you enter the best moment of the ride, a quick direction change hill. While looking at the ride makes it look meh, on ride it WHIPS you with a pretty decent amount of airtime into a left handed helix. After the helix you do a right turn into a small overhang and then a small left overhang into the brake run. While the second half of the layout was over dirt, it really didn't have too much effect on the ride experience. The landscaping is definitely unfinished. In terms of overall ride, I'd put it up next to its Orlando counterpart in terms of overall ride experience. The whole thing is a blast from start to finish. There are a few criticisms I would like to address. Line Jumping: While many people do have group members "waiting" in line for them, it still isn't fair to cut. After riding Manta fours times, we saw a grand total of 20 line jumpers. This is also where criticism two comes into play. The Aquarium Width: I noticed this with SWO, however it was adjusted there. The path through the aquarium is so wide, people can very easily cut you and or line jump without any resistance whatsoever. Tagging: Two days. The ride had been open two days, and every single asshole is San Diego seems to have scratched their name into the wooden railing path leading up to the station. It was scratched everywhere with people's names and I <3 U and other random junk. It's so insulting to the park. I was appalled. I know they can't do much about it, it's just so sad that it is occurring in the first place. And that concluded my in-depth Manta review. I have around 20 minutes of footage I plan on editing together, so I'll have more content soon. Also, Sea Lions Tonite, the Sea Lion show that parodies other Sea World attractions now has a segment for Manta, it's quite funny. Conclusion: For all of those who just scrolled through the wall of text expecting one sentence to explain everything, too bad. Go ride Manta, it rocks.
