Andy Shine's Quiz Time

I got the 9/20 as well.......... -
^^The airtime or semi-weightlessness you feel for that split second in a roll is what keeps it safe, rapid, and more-or-less level. On most Newtony coasters they hold the Gs through it, snap it so hard it breaks necks and make it exit the roll by ascending at about 20°. You can probably see most people's problem with Newtony tracks-

^Try to make the pullup segment (normal) shorter. You see, that's probably the single hardest thing to get right in Newton2. Just fiddle with it for a long time and you might end up with something useable. I'd not recommend it for a beginner in Newton2. I find it insanely difficult myself, and I've been using Newton2 since about Feb. of 2010. I still haven't gotten the descent side down, the ascent is the easiest part for me- And be sure you use a bump during each roll, dropping to a bit less than 1 or 1. No less than .7-or it'll look very flat. I'd say about 2-2.5 is good for the turn at the top- And like the person before me said: Long roll segments on the ascent and descent, and a short period of no change at the top.

I hate how GP always and forever add 'The' before any ride's name.

Ohhh, if thats the case, lets start with Ryan Reynolds If we do that, let's try that cloning bit while we're at it.

Weirdest Things The 'GP' Have Said

^I think he was talking about the "we have no coasters" remark before that. -
Right now your supports are nowhere close to B&M, study pics via rcdb to see what I mean and use those examples to make your ride more realistic. I also have a qualm with your colors, right now they're pretty ugly-not gonna lie. Try and go for a solid track color, or pick colors that are used more frequently- [MOD EDIT: Tone it down- QUITE A BIT. If you don't like the colors, suggest other ones. And be a bit more objective, not critical, over the person's coaster designs/abilities- I'll say this. It still kicks the crud out of what I can do with NL- R.D. GFMT

^I believe it's the extensive theming being done around the ride that called for an earlier-than-usual assembly. -
Thank you! I'll probably edit this post or PM you the advice in a little while. EDIT: Well, you didn't really use multizone. You set it multi and did in single. To correctly use it, you need to overlap your timezones. All of them. The first thing I noticed however, was your consistent (except for one timezone) 1 second timezones-what you need to do is play with them until they're exactly the way you want them. When you are going from, say 60 degrees to -60 degrees on banking, you must lower the forces in the middle using a bump (or plateau occasionally) so that the track doesn't skew upward. This is what is known as Newtony or Newton-inspired in the NL community. You may notice that in reality, there's few to none cases in which the force is held constantly through a roll. Also, I noticed you merely subtracted a number on your drop, what you need to do is get it between 0 and .3 Gs, as B&M never has a drop with -.7. You also should have used linear here to remove a nasty jerk during the transition between FVD and geometry. Another thing I realized is that on your final brake run, you didn't bring the forces up to 1, the rough estimation for that angle of descent. You kept them at .7ish, and this results in a nasty jerk. You also didn't zero out the roll on that final brake run. Nor did you do it in any of the curved geometry pieces after the brake run, they got bigger and bigger and you ended up with -.181 at the end, and in this case, that final piece must me level with a pitch of 0-0. The shaping also needs some serious help, and the layout isn't very B&M in the slightest, it's as if Newton2 controlled you in deciding the layout. You'll get much better results if you have a clear layout sketched in your head that you are going to perfectly replicate in Newton2. And be sure to test in the sim often, so that you can check to see how well you replicated your design, and it's much easier to spot shaping issues in the sim than in Newton2. Rcdb is your friend, so reference pictures often and play with numbers and transitions until it looks natural or identical to the desired companies styles. If you need to know any more, feel free to PM me. I'll give you one of the final files to one of my coasters. Note the numbers on it. That's the ride type, layout letter, attempt number, and the number of saves of that particular design (not including going back and reworking parts, adding new elements and working the details in). I had 3 layouts, with a total of 7 attempts (I went back; 3 were abandoned entirely after less than 10 saves), and a total of 126 saves from all designs-this is the final one. Note that the ride portion is done in two multizone segments. This was to sanction off the first bit from the end bit, as I didn't want to accidentally mess up everything prior to the airtime hill with a misclick. This coaster took about a week to do in Newton2. Yes, it's not a hyper, but it is B&M-so some aspects carry over. invertc6-62.zip This is La Lavandiere-found on the Game exchange

I think it's caused my the vertical force removing blood from your eyes and brain (less oxygen-so it cuts vision) and it's pushing it down into your hands, lap, legs, feet, etc. Given this, I don't believe it's any concern, in fact I'd put that down as a plus! I personally think your fears are your fears, but I305 isn't dangerous, in fact, they modified the first turn to reduce greyouts and increase ridership. I think you'd love it if you rode it, but that's just my standpoint (and I haven't even ridden it, but I want to). Now, there's a possibility that it may be health related, and if so talk to your doctor. I seriously doubt that it's anything close to serious-

The Classical Music Thread

Well, between Mackey, Glass, and Adams those are a few of modern-day composers. Glass is the oldest of those three (and the one I of the three that I like most, but he still ranks low on my total list), he's in his 70s. I'm guessing you read all of my post above, and saw that I had more music from 1830-1910 than anything else on there, and that's incidentally where most of my favorite music falls into. I'm a pianist and currently working through Les Adieux by Beethoven and Grieg's Piano Concerto in A minor. I somewhat recently finished Gershwin's piano solo arrangement of Rhapsody in Blue. It was fun, no doubt, but I find it more difficult than the concerto- I also play trumpet, which is only for band, I don't intend to get serious with it anytime soon. And you're actually 5 years my senoior, aka I'm 15. I'd like to eventually earn a doctorate and teach music at the college/university level. Most likely music history or something like that-It's unlikely that I'll be good enough to successfully teach piano. up for chat? -

YAY! Someone did comment after all! That one by Mackey was....strange. I've never been a fan of him (in fact I largely detest him), and I'm not especially fond of any today's big-name composers, they just don't speak to me in a way that the earlier composers do. So, do you play any instruments then?
