  1. I work in aquatics, and a thing that most people fail to really comprehend is that slides are not indestructible. We're very particular in what can and cannot go down our rides at my park, simply because if we're not careful, especially on the speed slides, a small, almost minuscule fracture/scratch/indention can do a number on someone's skin at 60 mph. Throw in the expected ride position and how holding onto a camera takes you out of it, and I'd bet you'll be hard pressed to find a lot of parks that will allow it. We just recently shot a TV spot that required a pretty expensive rig for the camera operator to wear while going down due to the rides nature, requiring one to hold on to the handles.
  2. I think that there could be a *lot* of potential for a Half-Life ride. Lots of interesting characters, settings, themes. Also a butt-load of action with a you vs alien vs military structure for tension. Think a dark-ride cross between Spider-Man and Test Track. Edit: Added the link to Wiki for those not in on the PC gaming scene....
  3. I'm not a big musical kind of guy, but when I watched it with the GF it wasn't that bad. For Busch, it definitely had some production value to it. Any word on a replacement?
  4. Glad to see them pull through, more competition in the industry is better for the GP. Though, did anyone else have to do a bit of a double-take for what hedgefunds were in charge? "Stark Investments" totally came out (to me) as Enterprises and I was like....
  5. The short answer? The Savannah/Veld area between the main pathway and Edge of Africa. The long answer? I don't take credit for the image, nor the rather crappy paint add-ons. ;D The old monorail station seems to play a large part in it. As does the water segment of Rhino Rally (Yellow/Blue). At the top right corner where the blueprints and satellite image meet, there is a building. That building is pretty much where you drive across the bridge and start the flash flood segment for Rhino Rally. The majority of the track seems to be in and around the area that the Sky ride goes over if you board at the front of the park. Hope this helps. Can't wait to see how this all plays out.
  6. I'm glad that someone else remembers the goodness of Questor. When it was here in Tampa it was one of the best motion-sims I had ever been on... then they replaced it with the abysmal Egyptian themed Martin Short one.... At least that is gone now too at least.
  7. But it is so much more fun to just role play and bulldoze everything!! Sign me up as well, might give me a reason to finally work on something more than just as a boredom killer.
  8. Long time lurker... figured I'd finally register to post something... I'd have to go with Kumba simply because it has been what I've stacked all other normal, looping coasters against since I started riding these things. From the drop onward, it just doesn't really relent. The only real breather section is just before the cobra-roll and even that has a bit of airtime. While it certainly has looked better (didn't they paint this just 2 or 3 years ago?) it's still the coaster that I remember from eons ago. Night time rides plus the fact that with Sheikra and Montu, it never has a line are things that help elevate it for me. I like Kraken, don't get me wrong... but it just seems a bit familiar. Drop, Loop, Diving Loop, Zero-G... Pretty much everything up till the brake run is Kumba-lite. The little pop of air you get on the far right seat coming off the brakes is fun, as is the use of terrain on the 2nd half of the coaster, but... it still lacks a bit of something that Kumba has.
