  1. Let me see if I can provide some insight from a few angles. I'll start with Cedar Point. I went for the first time about three years ago and went to the park three days. I stayed in Cleveland and did a few things there such as the Rock N Roll Hall of Fame. The crowds were light and bugs were plentiful, it was May afterall. I loved the place. Sure there were a few one and done coasters such as the mine train, wild cat, and Gemini. Then there were the must re-rides like Maverick, Wicked Twister, and Millie. The first day was a bit overwhelming but once I settled in I discovered what I liked and what I didn't. MaxAir ended up being my favorite flat and my favorite coaster was MF with Maverick a close 2nd. Food wise it's typical Cedar Fair, crappy and overpriced. They offer Subway, Johnny Rockets, Chick-fi-la, and outside they offer a TGI Friday and a Famous Daves. Atmosphere wise there is nothing special really, it's just a huge amusement park with a large variety of coasters, many of which you might not want to re-ride. The kiddie sections are where they inflate their ride numbers as there are numerous rides for kids in a few different sections. I returned to Cedar Point that fall as I loved it so in May and discovered I was bored by day two. I've been back once since and felt the same way. I don't plan to return until they add a new coaster of the epic variety. If you do it, I would advise building in time for Kings Island to make the most of your time and money, it's only 4 hours away and compared to the driving you would do to SFMM (mainly time stuck in traffic) and difference in fuel price, you would come out close expense wise to California. Now on to California. There is plenty more to do there as you mentioned the race that weekend, studio tours, beaches, and more parks to visits. Knotts has a nice homey atmosphere and to me, you feel like it's home, it's not as touristy as Cedar Point. Xcel is the best Intamin Launch IMO, they have a nice selection of flats, and like Cedar Point they have a crappy wooden coaster. The log flume is simply one of the best I've ever been on (and walked through), and you can't forget about the Chicken Dinner restaurant. Like CP, you can stay onsite if you wish and there are lots of restaurants within walking distance. Universal Hollywood has more dark attractions than outdoor ride attractions but I really enjoyed the Backlot tour, now with more cowbell. Mummy is good but I missed my Jurassic park credit due to mechanical failure. Combine the park with the Studio Walk and you can easily kill a day and feel like you are in Hollywood, afterall, you practically are. SFMM, what can I say, it's Six Flags. X2 is their standout coaster, Apocinator is a top GCI woodie IMO, and you can't go wrong with Batman. Colossus is tired and needs a revamp with Riddler being my favorite Standup. Superman will be back up and running then and is a must do with Lex Luther hanging off the side. And they have about 5 flat rides. Food is not good, suggest to drive down Valencia about 2 miles to the mall area. Much better food down there. If you were to hit the park on a Saturday, you might want to figure in for the possibility of needing a flash pass, tho in September it probably won't be needed as the kids will be getting back into the school swing. If you were to combine Kings Island into Cedar Point, that might be a good choice. If you don't really want to do that, then I would opt for California. Both options have strengths and weaknesses with Cedar Point not having any other activities in town or within 50 miles other than Cedar Point. In California, you are certain to find something to do after the parks close. Don't forget about Disney if you make your way to Cali, Cars Land should be up and running as will the refurbished Matterhorn and it, along with Knotts, will be open during the week. Hope that helps, overall I usually refrain from saying pick one over the other and just present my view point on both. Check out the trip reports from my Vacation Adventures at the link below!
  2. Someone better have an AED on standby in case QueerRudie's heart stops.
  3. ^Wow, LMFAO I kind of wish now I would have stopped by the model railroad exhibit, on the flip side I did let a Scorpion crawl over me. Maybe I will have to return tomorrow and check it out

  5. ^ 40mph winds, 28 degrees, and miserable. Summer can't come fast enough Ice Bat!
  6. The Santa Claw has made the big time! Real Art Blog Facebook Also, an official announcement is expected this week about their latest project!
  7. I could not have put it any better Larry! And like he said, Morey's has staggered opening times but will stay open until midnight most nights. Storybook land we skipped as it was like $27 to get in for one credit. The only other thing I can add is that Fantasy Island opens at 6pm which put a kink into my schedule and we doublebacked to get it adding about 3 hours to the drive.
  8. ^ Looks good, just don't pull a Six Flags and raise your price and take away amenities!
  9. And the winner is.......eddie200330! PM me you address and I'll send you a bunch of worthless stuff that you can nerd out too! Congrats!
  10. Yuuuup! You got it right! Yuuuup! So in for the drawing are: netdvn - 2 entries eddie200330 - 1 entry larrygator - 2 entries QueerRudie - 1 entry I'll draw later tonight and post up the winner! And we will do Legoland 'right'! As for Hellcat @ Clementon' date=' it was rough for sure, but overall it wasn't that bad of a ride. I still wouldn't go back to ride it. And Thank You for reading!! Thanks for reading Chris! I have a feeling you are going to get around a bit yourself in 2012!
  11. I'm guessing LL will go up lightning quick so they won't need a lot of time. The queue will probably be their toughest challenge
  12. We will have an official announcement soon from Frontier City, but it looks to be nothing more than a mini water park if you will, although it could be a shoot the chute. More when details are officially announced.
  13. ^ Oh wow, that really stinks. A little background on it being closed that weekend. It was actually supposed to open that Friday but they were set back about 5 days in getting the rehabbed track bolted back in. That in turn didn't give the state enough time for inspection for it's permit to operate. I was bummed too. Shock Wave is being disassembled now for more rehab work with the same occurring next year completing it's 5 year program. So if you plan another trip in the next two years, I would come end of April or better yet, first week of May.
  14. Only a few more hours, contest closes at midnight! Hint: Two people have the correct non-bonus answer
  15. I.E. If two idiots show up with Mr. Six masks and put a voodoo on the ride. Oh wait, now there are three idiots that might show up with Mr. Six masks
  16. So, what comes after the Santa Claw.....It's apparently being called Project B.A.
  17. Contest ends this Friday! Bonus Entry Count: Yuuuuup! Yuuuuup! plus super bonus entry for the cancerous tumor! Yuuuup! (I had to recount too a few times!)
  18. And now you can get the credit down in Florida!
  19. And finally here starts Day 4 and my last TR for about 5 or 6 weeks. I must be on the right street! This place must have low enrollment I mean, I'm pretty sure our nation's politicians, certain investors, and celebrities have not graduated from here. So if you guessed I am now in NY City, you guessed right! And in NYC we find a classic carousel! Hand crafted and painted, this classic is a work of art. Bath time? Jihad? Creepy. The attention to detail is beyond describable Elegant in every sense Bonus entry for the first one to name my stalker. Next park in quite a nice setting, still in Central Park. Mini Mad Mouse?!?! Oh well, lets get this over with, we have two more parks left on the list. Speaking of, have you been keeping track because I haven't Probably the safest park of NYC Moving on we would drive through Harlem quite by accident. If you have never visited Harlem, well, lets just say it looks just as it does on Law and Order. Moving quickly out of Harlem I hauled out to Adventure Park. This is puked out of.... This. Noted! I liked it, I mean it didn't give it me rough, but not smooth, so I suppose it gave it me with a mixture that was pleasurable. Wow, these kiddie rides run fast. My, what a long centipede(?) you are Ok, final park, and not only am I wearing down by now, so is my camera. Rye Playland is now in my top 10 most liked parks. It has a classic feel with a nice mixture of carnival rides and classic rides like this galloping racing horse. The employees would give you pointers on your riding technique. Next up was this death machine. Another death machine would be found on the NE Trip to Coney Island..... Noted. Coasters that require one to play with a brake handle turn me on. And finally a mouse ride to end this report. Goodbye Rye! Thanks for a fantastic evening and an unexpected fireworks show! (Unexpected because it was good!) And here would start the NE Trip, but thats already been covered so... So wave bye to the camera and remember to post for your chance to win an envelope of garbage! Thanks again, see you again in February!
  20. Whew, survived the overnight ghetto hotel and was up and at it early to travel to more parks! First on the list today was Fun TOwn! Another well placed shot tower that allowed you to reload and shoot again! I thought my throat was going to turn inside out, this thing was on kill! Yuuuuuup! Oooooooo, this looks promising! Oh. More birds in cages. Sadly, height requirement would not let me ride. But this was actually fun moving side to side and spinning with variable speed. A Sponge Bob dark ride that looks.... ...fully licensed! Now it was on to Casino Pier which was park number...um.....WTH I don't know what number it was. Anyway if you do, post a comment and let me know for a bonus entry for the drawing. I suppose by now I have ridden one too many kiddies. Coasters that is. Is it a bird, is it a plane? NO! It's Mighty Mouse! Ahhhhh, how cute! Over to the left you will see a guy playing in what he thought was a jungle gym. Sadly for us, he was working on a MCBR which meant the ride was down. Now, over to the right is where we would head next. Woooosh! Easily one of the better dark rides on the shore. Sorry, I have a headache. After picking up three or four credits at Casino Pier it was off to find the car, which had a piece of litter on it from the local police department. Apparently I didn't know how to properly operate the parking meter and they thought I needed a lesson in how to add money to the meter. But, instead of adding money to the meter I was asked to add $40 to the county's general fund. New park, new coaster. First one to name the park gets a bonus entry! "Boo!" Weeeee. Ok, enough of this. Moving on to... This lovely park and yet another cookie cutter coaster! But Jenkinson's has something special On of the most bad ass powered coasters I've ever been on This thing was on kill to the point I actually wanted to ride it again! But no time for that, it was off to a creepy walk thru attraction up the boardwalk and then on to yet another park! Looking back, I did a hell of a lot of driving on Day 3. More pirates booty! At least I could assist putting out a fire. Wheel of fortune. Licensed from Disney. Look, its a fast food mascot! A midway of happiness that only opens after like 5pm. Oh baby! "I like it with two tails in the rear" See ya fantasy island...now where to... Oh yeah, last park of the night! I will say this was a creepy ghetto park. What park is it? Well name it and you get a bonus entry. The ops were all in plain clothes so you didn't know who worked there and who didn't which actually added to the experience. Should I take it in the front or... in the rear? Bahhh! Stalker is taking it in the rear! So as we coast off into the night time we end day 3. Overall this creepy park was not all that bad, it had character and personality, something that most of your chain parks don't have.
