^ That really means a lot to me. The reason i leave a lot of parks is due to lack of support. Thank you for your support though. --- April 24, 1990 Well, it's opening day, and the park is doing very well! All in all, we had little to no problems, although Virote experienced about an hour of downtime due to a system failure. On to the photos! Showing off the park entrance. The Carousel is duly named "Grand Carousel." It looks like the park is planning a pretty huge expansion, I cannot wait! One of the restaurants is branded as a "Hard Rock", But it looks like it was originally meant to be a "Hard Rock-Cafe" but that was removed. If I'm correct, a certain "bat like" character may be taking over this area next year. 'Asia' really is the only completely themed area. Looks like some land clearing was done here too! Virote is about to thrill some riders!

GAH! (Grabs new boxers) I need to get out there ASAP. :O -
March 1, 1990 Two years ago today, Six Flags asked the State of Illinois to purchase an unused piece of land. The plot features a large hill with an abundance of trees. Six Flags dubbed the property: "Six Flags Hills of Adventure" Two years later, the park is ready for the public. The park is still small, but features two impressive roller coasters. The first which is in the 'Asia' themed area is named, " VIROTE " which is "grace" in Chinese. The second coaster is "The Great American Scream Machine. " The park is set to open to the public on April 24, 1990. This season looks like it's going to be fun! The Great American Scream Machine features Americana themed trains. Park entrance is only $17.99 for General Admission, or $39.99 for a 1990 Season Pass! The park features many small eating areas like this one. "Welcome to Asia!" Guests can head to sea and ride, ''Pirateer"! Virote features lap seating, along with quite a few tight turns! This pagoda really adds to the feel of Asia. Walking out of Asia, you'll encounter a very interesting, "Magic Carpet" ride. The Scenic Railway passes through this path. This area may end here, but the Adventure continues when you turn around! This sail boat is a nice touch to add to the area. I hope the sun shines this bright on opening day! - James Anderson (Ride Operator)

I bet Magic Mountain was praying (and still is) that this heap of wood would burn to the ground. -
How many times the same ride in a day ?

You're NOT crazy! I rode Viper at Six Flags Great America 18 times without getting off! Being a woodie, it's pretty rough, so I consider that equal to 30 steel coasters! -
Neither have I, but you can see all that Six Flags removed. Not much actually, the waterfall was highly understandable, but the spiral lights were not. Supposedly kids would throw rocks to break the bulbs. STUPID KIDS! I WANT MY SPIRAL TUNNEL. Anyways, Demon really is a fantastic ride. I would definitely cry if they removed it.

:O I guess it was a slow day, so Hank was like, "What the hell." But I was certainly happy. The situation was handled well. And, I was EXTREMELY happy about the short line situation. Sorry if I sounded like I didn't like it! Demon's overall experience has become far better for me now that my head is completely above the restraints, which means no head banging. But it is truly a terrific coaster, and I'd love to see it get some rehab work next season, along with bringing the tunnel lights back to the spiral mode.

Saturday, September 18, 2010 - Six Flags Great America This was a VERY interesting visit. The park was EMPTY, there was literally no wait for any ride, Raging Bull was running two trains but yet had no wait. But, I guess the cold weather was bringing the ride operations down. I was trapped on Superman's break-run for about 30-40 minutes until, and I wan to emphasize this: Hank Salemi, Dameon Nelson and a flurry of maintenance people were called. Hank was talking to us about our day at the park. Anywho. Onto the photos. The suspense that builds when you see Bull is what makes the day begin. Once I got in, the IMMENSE amount of Fright Fest decorations was incredible. The park's coffee is pretty gross. It tastes like they took instant coffee and freakin' watered it down. The new way of managing what ride ops need to do. Pretty organized. This is a bad representation. There was LITERALLY no line rows 2-5 had no wait. Two train operations meant that the brake run normally had no trains. Ricochet gets a lot of flack for being worse than Big Top. But, I give Six Flags credit. They took an old ride which they could have thrown away, and re-themed it nicely. They also made good use out of it's old space. That bell was removed. Strike 1 for theming removal. Why hello there you smooth little Arrow. <3 You can't get any better than the yellow train. Now if they only got the front fiberglass back... YES. I LICKED DEMON. I FREAKIN' LOVE THIS COASTER. OFFICIALLY. LIKE. LEGIT. There is this itty bitty teeny weeny HOLE in County fair. Okay, now THIS is god marketing. AND they didn't destroy a coaster for it... The Dippin' Dots guy had the day off ever since Great America announced the 2011 attraction. Obviously... YEAH. WOLFIE HAS A TIMER. IT'S NOT GOING ANYWHERE DARLIN'. <3 Don't mind this twisted garbage in the sky... The Six Flags of the 90's was my favorite. ;( Fog in nearly full effect. This is a waste at this time of year. Maybe you should cut back HERE not park hours. I've always said that Six Flags never advertises Fright Fest correctly. THIS is the perfect way to do so, you get Families and Teens. Another HUSS. Down for the count... I also got a chance to ride some steel garbage...Okay. I admit, TDK is better than Ragin Cajun. RC is just rough. GRR! You made me stuck! I lost 30+ minutes of ride time. ;( As long as they bring this design back for Fright Fest, why not just bring the whole thing back! Jeeze... DEMON IS INCREDIBLE! Lickage II. You get a cookie if you know what this ride was! ;( Sort of like the picture I got Opening Day... NEARLY IDENTICAL! Oh shut up. I guess they were preparing for Fright Fest... Random parade rail! YAY! Required Carousel photo. Must have been a pretty small school! yay. [insert low attendance joke here] At first I was like, "WTF ROFLCOPTER!" Then I was like, "I'm not buying 4." Insert old B&M Stand-Up here. (Or as Cole called it, "that olde crumbly b&m") WeLCOmE After 30+ total rides (on coasters) I was tired out. BEAT 16 RIDES ON VIPER AND 8 ON DEMON! It was loads of fun! Great America is such a wonderful park. <3

Over The Shoulder Restraints. (OTSRs)
liftsifter replied to Movieguy's topic in Theme Parks, Roller Coasters, & Donkeys!
Also from what I hear, many park's insurance companies require that any coaster that goes over a certain height, or loops must have a OTSR unless proved 100% fail proof.
