  1. Great Times Entertainment Corp. Purchases 328 acre property in Illinois August 15, 1991 In a quick maneuver, Six Flags hands over management of "Hills of Adventure" to Great Times Entertainment in an effort to leave the un-profitable park. ON August 14th, Six Flags signed a contract with GTE to take over the park, and purchase the property. GTE would like to introduce their CEO, Mr. Liam Higgins. Liam worked as a park manager for Cedar Fair, and will now be the owner and operator of "Discovery Hills" an amusement park for families, teens, and adults alike! The following is the park's plan to recovery. Step One: Fill in missing spots left by corporate miss-management. Step Two: Remove the rarely open scenic railway, and fix damaged areas affected by the rail. Step Three: Re-theme Gotham City. Step Four: Replace the low capacity entrance with an all new high-capacity entrance. Step Five: Improve or Remove the Asian area. We will have a follow up soon. We hope to hear from you, our investors about this plan. Thank You.
  2. Sorry, just can't get it right.
  3. I doubt this is all due to the weather. Weber and his glorious cuts..
  4. I was stuck on Superman: Ultimate Flight's block breaks at Great America for about 45 minutes. Very uncomfortable. But, I got skip-the-line passes and a free meal. (And I met the park execs!) I've had a load of occurances like e-stops on V2, and chain malfunctions on DEMON. Also got stuck on Whizzer once! That was enjoyable though.
  5. If a Chinese company can rip-off your product, and do it better than you, then you must know something is wrong with your coaster. Notice none of them attempt to rip off B&M or Shwarz, mostly because it's too difficult, and they both make or have made QUALITY products.
  6. Great America is getting a new thrill ride. BWAHAHAHAHAAHHAHH! I made myself laugh!
  7. I went to TGE quite a few years ago, and I enjoyed my time. I wasn't tall enough to ride much, but the overall atmosphere screamed family. I don't see the chain dropping that park, their just trying to transition it out of all of the IPs. Which could be a good or bad thing depending on how KIDZOPOLIS goes.
  8. THIS. I don't think I've ever seen the parks so clean. I've gotta admit, he is my third favorite Six Flags CEO and my "top buisnessman of 2010." I hear he's back with the NFL. I'd love to see him take over Cedar Fair and show Six Flags what he's made of! BTW: Where on earth is Jay Thomas?! He needs to contact TPR so we can do another, "Where on earth is..."
  9. Are we going to see some nice ledgers all over the coaster, or just the lift?
  10. For those in the GAm area, both Gurnee Mills and Woodfield Mall provide in-house lockers for a quarter. I am more than willing to secure my souvenir bottle or phone in a $.25 locker. And to get even better, they can make ultra small slots for phones and wallets! This way people will clearly feel that they are getting a bargain.
  11. PRINCE DESMOND!!!!!!! I HAVE BEAUTIFUL OFFERING FOR YOUR LIKENES. SORY TO HEER OF INCIDENT IAAAAAAAAAAAAPA IN FLARIDA. HERE IS IMAGE FOR PRINCELY PERSON.
  12. ^ Let's just say.. wait and see. --- July 1976 We're preparing ourselves for the end of the season, and something monumental. We will be hosting the Governor of Kentucky on August 1, 1976 to announce the biggest expansion of the park to date. This State-Funded addition will help build the park for the future! Kentucky Kups continue to be the park's most appreciated ride! Thunder Mountain Thrill Coaster is waiting for a new part to come in. Enterprise continues to provide a chilling heels-over-head experience! Will it be the only one though? Preparations seem to be moving smoothly! Families continue to enjoy Chair-Swings! This overview was provided by W-TVQ! See you in August!
  13. ^ You mean in the past! ----- May 1976 Good Day! It's Ed here, reporting after opening day here at Kentucky Ridge! Guest Satisfaction ratings are high, and families love the park, and the atmosphere! We're happy to say that the park is a success, and will be open all summer long! Not many guests began to enter past 3:00pm. Thunder Mountain received an upgrade! Guests head up the tunnel. I hear there is a light at the end! Enterprise was extremely popular with guests. It is the only ride that will turn guests upside down! Kentucky Kups are already a family favorite! This fence was added for safety purposes. Guest's Services didn't receive a single complaint! -Ed Simmons
  14. March 1976 Good afternoon! My name is Edward Simmons and I am the proud owner of the soon to open, Kentucky Ridge Amusement Park. The park will open to the public during Memorial Day weekend, in which we will operate five rides. Thunder Mountain Thrill Coaster, Kentucky Kups, Kentucky Carousel, Enterprise, and Chair-Swings. The following are photos of the amusement park in it's current state. The main entrance to the park. Thunder Mountain Thrill Coaster is the main attraction. The Grand Carousel is the center of attention. Guests can stop and get some lemonade on those hot days. Enterprise might just make you loose your lunch! Kentucky Kups will send guests spinning! Chair-Swings will be a family favorite. I took this photo on my way out. Please join us this Memorial Day weekend!
  15. My bets are on S:UF within the next two years. Or a woodie.
  16. So, will this be like a traditional woodie with ledgers all around, or not?
  17. Don't want to bash it, but it's definitely my least favorite addition. 1. The coaster's layout has never been used on any Impulse coasters. 2. When the coasters were introduced, the supports were a little heftier. In 2003 they added more supports. 3. That whole section before the spiral is unnecessary given that the GAm model doesn't have that, and neither do any of the 2001 models.
  18. August 1, 1990 SIX FLAGS ANNOUNCES HUGE CAPITAL EXPANSION Six Flags Hills Of Adventure is expanding the park to reach new heights. "GOTHAM CITY" Will include TWO inverted coasters, and a doubly fun dueling coaster! The park expects to open on April 1, 1991. Something seems... missing. 'Batman VS. The Joker' takes over the skyline! The Gotham City Amphitheater! (Created by the one and only Laitch!) Lockers will be mandated. This coaster was developed by Bolliger and Mabillard. While some rides are coming in, others are leaving. This ride is an all new concept by Arrow Dynamics. 'Catwoman's Whip' is the official name of this coaster. An additional train stop has been added. At 65 degrees, this is the steepest drop on a wooden coaster to date! This tunnel will be full of fog! It's clear what a difference this addition makes! The park said that the official names of the rides will be released soon.
  19. Kieran definitely had intent to resurrect all of the AW coasters, He could have easily shipped the trains to Great America for parts, because we have Iron Wolf. (Runs Intamin trains)
  20. I hope they don't plan to scrap Cobra! It's still a very young coaster, and would fit well at SFStL. Or, Magic Mountain can take it and have 19 Coasters.
  21. Magic Mountain I'm really happy for you, and imma letchu finish, but Ceda Point is da best park a oaww taaame.
  22. Hello Prince Desmond! I have deseng for your likings! i also want to learn of umerian culture. verry nice indeedz (i hear umerican like use of zed rather then our s.)
  23. June 1, 1990 Well, about two months in to our first season, and construction has begun! It seems as if next years major addition will be a wooden coaster. Although a small detail, both coasters received 'EVAC. Stairs.' This restaurant has finally received some signage! These are the EVAC stairs, fairly basic. Does this suggest some good theming? Construction is well underway! I heard some guests saying that Scream Machine's double loops look like a smiley face. The Scenic Railway is closed for re-routing. Still nothing over here. The EVAC stairs are here too! - James Anderson
  24. On the majority of my visits, TDK at Great America only has one train out on the transfer track, and is using the block breaks. I'm not exactly sure how many cars it uses, but, I'm certain it's capacity isn't more than 800TPPH.
