  1. Yes! The donuts, according to Allison, are good. And, on the sky tower elevator ride, she gives you a spiel about the park's history, with some pretty good facts/info. But yeah.. she's a bit too friendly.. That recording with Allison has been replaced. Both she and Mr.Six are gone for now. Whoops! My apologies for stating that. That tells you how long it's been since I was there last (September)... As for today's filming, I hope to see some trip reports in some way or another! I was invited to go, but called in for a last minute job interview in town so, unfortunately, I chose the job interview I'm looking forward to WCB though! That will more than suffice for not making it up there today!

  3. Alrighty, I just purchased a ticket for my sister. If she cannot go, her boyfriend will use it. Thanks for keeping the tickets available for so long!
  4. Robb, what's the longest I should wait, as a TPR club member, to buy two Knott's tickets? I will be buying two tickets for friends of mine, and am waiting until they are 100% certain that they'll be attending. Thanks!
  5. Yeah.. I only do the $1 loc.her.s for convenience.. If it's raining off and on, and I might need a jacket sporadically, then it's a PITA to go all the way up front to the main lo-c-h-e-rs.. What happens after 2 hours? Anyone ever encountered that before? Not that I would try, just curious.
  6. Yeah... I'll definitely be taking a backpack to carry around some rain gear - do you think a Disneyland umbrella will be appropriate? My brother made the nicest crack this morning - "Have fun in the rain." As a matter of fact, I will! If there's a possibility that the crowds will be smaller during the day on Saturday, then bring it on, mother nature!
  7. Mine doesn't have any dress-code information, just detailed instructions on where to go. Here's how mine starts: Does that look like yours?
  8. At DCA the other day, I over heard a conversation next to me amongst two individuals who were looking at CA Screamin'. First person: "Have you ever been on that big ride over there?" Second person: "No.. I won't go on roller coasters.. I'm afraid the wheels will come off." (my inside response: "good.. keep the line shorter for all of us.")
  9. ^ Speaking of which, any chance that TPR members can meet up? Sounds like quite a few of us will be there.
  10. I think it's neat just sitting as-is - provides some nice shaded spots when it's not filled with motorhomes. $1? I remember when my parents bought diesels (F-250s and 240d/300d Mercedes) because of the cheap cost of diesel - gosh, I want to say it was $.30/gal. or less. Now.. It is sort of random to see a gas station within a theme park, but I'm assuming there weren't as many stations back then outside of the park?
  11. That's right - I didn't take into the consideration the fact that you were way up in the sky near the fireworks. Since you guys were talking about Chevron, I got to thinking - I've always wondered what's up with the former gas station in the parking lot - when was it open, what kind of gas was sold, and was it owned by MM? I couldn't find anything about it on google.
  12. Glad to hear some of your comparisons. And I can also attest to WOC's amazement. I'm really not into shows, unless they are really mesmerizing. I watched F! for the first time a few years ago, despite annual trips to Disneyland for my entire life. It was awesome, yes. But then there's WOC. I've seen the Bellagio show many times.. it's cool, yes. But when I saw WOC - WOW! Yeah, a bunch of colored water, but the way everything ties together, it's simply awesome, and it's a winner for DCA.
  13. And if you don't use them at Magic, head to the strip clubs after the event! Ha! I seriously thought of saying that right when I clicked submit. Do you know of any good ones in the area?
  14. It makes perfect sense, thanks! I'll bring lots of dollar bills, just in case!
  15. So I'm guessing you were spotting for fires caused by the fireworks, right? Just out of curiosity, were there any fires within the park that resulted from the fireworks? Seriously - sounds like an awesome job! I wonder if it's the same today.
  16. Me, or at least I'm assuming so. I got an email that just gave me the time and directions - I just got it yesterday so I'm quite surprised I was invited since they only had 100 openings/ What do you think - will it be pretty awesome? Is it worth the 2 hour drive?
  17. Yay! The Knott's day will be even better (is that even possible? - it already kicked ass!!) I apologize in advance if this has been discussed/mentioned, but what will the lo-c-.ke.r policy be during ERT at SFMM? I know that during regular operating hours I will need to use the $1 lo-c-.ke.rs, but what about the morning/evening sessions of ERT? I did not pay attention to the policy last year because I didn't bring a backpack. Also, not to 'break the rules' or anything, but can you technically go longer than one hour on the $1 lo..c-ke..rs? Just curious. It's not that I'm not trying to save money or anything, but sometimes it's more convenient to leave my stuff at one location while a ride multiple rides - for instance: use the Goliath lo-c-.ke.rs - and ride Goliath - then go and ride Colossus, Scream and Batman, then back to Goliath for another ride, then get my belongings. Thanks in advance!
  18. Woah.. I never would have imagined that it was that high off the ground, but I guess considering SFMM's topography, it could easily be that high, if not higher in some spots? It is too bad that SFMM didn't go according to plan in terms of size - but based on rumors a few years ago about it closing down ( ) and a lot of my friends thinking that it is closed, I'm happy about its current state, and hope it continues to do well in the future; I don't think I'd be satisfied with the other coaster offerings in SoCal. Since I'm quite the Disney nerd myself when it comes to the park's history, I always love hearing about the history of other parks! Thanks again! And make sure you copyright your proprietary information - wouldn't want anyone to steal it.
  19. Yes, X2 was running. That's more than I could say for "poor Superman" right now. Awesome! Even if X2 is the only coaster open for WCB, I'm there! (Okay, X2 and Goliath, Riddler, and Apocolypsator.) Thanks for filling us in!
  20. ^ I agree. On that note, any word on how X2 is doing? (wasn't there a crane next to it last week?)
  21. Watermarks and copyrights are important for businesses that rely on their photography for revenue: school photos, tabloid pictures, press pictures, etc. If a company shoots hundreds of school photos, and sends out proofs without watermarks before the students/parents buy them, they wouldn't make money. But when you're a hobbyist photographer taking pictures for fun, and for the joy of others, I coudn't care less who took the photo.. I do thoroughly enjoy DSLR/high def images, and I respect the photographers time and energy in taking the photos and editing them, but to slap a watermark on them is inappropriate.
  22. I find it funny. If you think about it, why would you watermark a picture of an abandoned building at SFMM? No offense to the photographer, but there are photos that are more deserving of watermarks.
  23. ^ @ Eric and thecoasterguy- NOW I know what that building is for; I've walked by it numerous times and figured it used to be for some sort of ride. Thanks Eric for describing the layout - I bet it was a fun ride, even if you didn't have to create more excitement within the cars It's unfortunate that skyway rides are a thing of the past - at least here in So Cal. (I know the zoo and Sea World SD have them, but it'd be nice to ride one where you go for other rides, compared to going to a place that revolves around animals.) Does that make sense? It must have been a pretty good fall to the midway for a fatality to occur.
  24. I'm really digging the posts about SFMM's history - great entertainment and information! So, if I understand correctly, the fatality involving the newlyweds took place on a sky-ride type of ride? The car fell of the cable?
  25. Awesome! Since I wasn't around back then, did most people (general public) know what happened on Colossus - since this was before the internet, how did people find out about the death? And geez.. how scared were you to ride it? A death? A wind storm catastrophe? I'm beginning to think that Colossus is cursed.
