If this ride is anything like X2, then it won't make a difference in terms of ride experience - it's not really an out-and-back, airtime-laden coaster where you ride with your hands in the air; it's more like a 'holy crap hold on for dear life because the train is not counter-balanced because some fat dude is on the other side' kind of coaster. Does that make sense? I've ridden X2 at least a dozen times.. and I try to not hold on, but you just have to..

Traveling in California

You know, I would actually join ya - I live about 40 miles south of Riverside.. and I'm do for a SFMM trip. I would definitely go the 10th.. Saturdays at SFMM? Yeah.. I pretend they don't exist. Let me know.. we can figure something out. I'll even show you how a-hole Americans drive -
^ Cool, thanks! Were you able to see if there were a lot of people in the film shoot? I'm just curious.. I've applied for past shoots but ended up having scheduling conflicts - I was actually in the clear this time around but sent my email too late. I'm definitely looking forward to riding GL, but I can easily wait.. (Umm ERT at WCB 2012??? [maybe?]) It's kind of like Star Tours and Little Mermaid.. they've been open for almost a month now, I have a premium pass, and I honestly couldn't care less about riding them because they are 'new' and everyone and their brother has to get to them first.. I'll let the hype die-down.

^ I honestly had no idea it was so complicated.. I never would have realized that there are multiple brands/models for mouse carnival coasters. Unless it was my imagination, the actual, uncontrolled spinning didn't start until the lower section - it didn't spin freely on the top switchbacks. The only other Mouse I've been on is Mulholland Madness (*cough, Goofy's Sky School). On a related note, how 'safe' are the other coasters? I'm not discrediting the manufacturer whatsoever, but is it possible for the fine carnie folks to assemble them poorly on-site? Or are there inspections?

You pretty much nailed it - most people start at X2 and make the rounds - Tatsu, Apoc, etc.. ending at the Colossus side. During West Coast Bash, I had just finished my second consecutive ride on X2 at 10:30; by the time I exited to the long bridge that heads back toward Panda Express, the line was already overflowing onto the bridge at 10:34 - people were huffing and puffing because they RAN from the front gate.. So, if you can get in early (Discover Card) to beat the crowds, start with X2, otherwise, come back to it later.

^^Weekdays are your best bet - you might be able to get away with not buying a flash pass. Make sure you, or another member of your party, has a Discover card - it will (should) get you in the gate earlier. If you don't get a flash pass, run to X2 first as long as you're there early. If you miss it (even by ten minutes), go the opposite direction and come back to X2 later in the day.

Onto the next batch of photos.. there should be more food signs this time around. I missed out on the 'fried Kool-aid".. there was an article about it in the paper the next day. This is part 2 of 3. Carnie "literacy".... If her hand wasn't there, you'd see some awesome lipo scars. But I'm sure you're more interested in the ride in the background. Yep, they have one of these - 4 tickets one way (to/from Kiddie Land), or 6 tickets round-trip. Highest point is about 60'... nice aerial views. NOTED! How much for your hot/steamy buns? Can your buns fit in one hand or two? Can I munch right into your buns, or do I need a fork and knife to eat your buns? Can I get my buns extra juicy? Hi sexy! Hey you in the white.. stop staring at me. More and more food.. and the crowd levels. Midway, people, rides, etc. And the ocean in the background. Got your skis ready? We're almost there. Oh crap, I forgot.. we're at the fair. So there really is a 'Chicken Charlie' - he's 300 pounds (no joke), and is always figuring out what he can fry up. This year's concoction: fried Kool-Aid. Yes, there are Automated External Defibrillators all over the fairgrounds. Got your paddles ready? Your aspirin? Maybe some nitroglycerin? Heck.. just get your phone ready to call 911. Hi there! Watcha eating for lunch? Seriously? Raw butter is good in cookie dough. Butter is good on bread. Butter is good for cooking an egg. But to just fry it up? It's contradicting/unnecessary/confusing.. like fried fat.. candy with added sweetener.. wine with a shot of alcohol added... ACE with more fat people... If you have an old diesel that runs on veggie oil, you should befriend the carnies/food vendors. The bridge to.......Kiddie Land! And more coasters! So that ends this segment of our TR.. tune in for more!

I also got the ride naming survey.. some interesting names that all suggest a tower of some sort. To reiterate from the previous page, here are the choices... Vertical Velocity, Stratos Fear, LunasSEE, SkyScreamer, Mastermind Bender, Drop of Doom, Cataclysm. Vertical Velocity and SkyScreamer seem so 'generic' in terms of a drop ride. Tough choice. Which would you choose?

Is it a fairly new ride, say, newer than ten years old? -

I'm impressed with the park, and your TR! I'm really excited to go here during the Northeast trip.. Probably heading to Untamed first! -
Oh, ok thank you for the clarification . Guess ill get my B&M fix on Riddler's, Tatsu, and Scream . How ya doing, neighbor to the north? The new 'land' does look pretty awesome! I guess I wasn't expecting a re-theme, but I'm pleasantly surprised, and might even catch a ride on the flat rides that I've passed a few dozen times.
