  1. If we wanted to get reallllyyyyy technical, 117 meters is 383.85 feet, so 385 would barely beat it. Either way, if it ties that one, it's still the tallest in the world, because no other Star Flyers will be taller.
  2. I would have bet the farm they were going to Kyrgyzstan.
  3. Just wondering, will the Timberliners be the first things you test with the new layout, or will you run the PTCs first and then try the Timberliners out? Thanks.
  4. ^^I can tell you for right now that that's a very real possibility. When the new owner first purchased the park, that was his outright plan. As of right now, it seems as if those plans may be on hold. Either way, if the dry park opens this year, I would get your rides on Rampage in before it's too late.
  5. Talon, Hydra, Patriot, Griffon, and Alpengeist are all fairly quiet B&Ms. I think the Dorney ones are the quietest that I've heard.
  6. ^ACE can go eff themselves with their self-important plaques they place at random rides around the country. Cyclone doesn't need ACE's plaque of pompousness to still be known as a landmark coaster.
  7. GCI has been doing a fantastic job with the refurb on Thunder Road, I'm sure they'll do a great job with this, as well!
  8. ^There's a joke somewhere in there about size not mattering..........
  9. ^Do you realize how much work and money would have to go into "just moving" some water slides? Do you need me to list it out, or can you just assume from what I'm saying it would be a royal pain in the ass for the park?
  10. What was the exposure time on that one of HRRR? It's awesome!
  11. It looks a lot like Intimidator in that picture, just the way it turns and rides along the parking lot.
  12. ^I'm not sure if this was your point, but the 2nd hill isn't built yet, so there's no way you could see it in any picture.
  13. ^Here's the image to go along with that link.
  14. I've ridden Ravine Flyer in 2008, 2010, and 2011, and it was butter smooth all three years. Last year might have had some very minor jack hammering, but I honestly can't recall for sure. Either way, it's held up beautifully over time, and that's riding both on and off wheel seats. Not sure how Waldameer has done it, but they've taken excellent care of RFII to this point.
  15. ^Yeah, that's just idiotic. If I were Mitch, ballots like that would get thrown out in a heartbeat. Nobody on Earth truly and honestly thinks that Voyage or El Toro is the worst wooden coaster in the world. I mean come on.
  16. Here is the topper track from Cyclone at SFNE, you can see it's basically a layer of steel-ish material on top of all the normal layers of wood. It's definitely a gray area, but I think it's still in the "wooden" classification. Until they completely get rid of the layers of wood and replace it all with steel I-beam track (New Texas Giant), it's still wooden.
  17. I can say nighttime ERT on Excalibur certainly improved my impressions of the ride. If I had just gone off my two daytime rides on it, it would have been ranked considerably lower.
  18. Watched 50/50 tonight, phenomenal flick. Probably the best I saw this year. Also thought Drive was excellent, and Horrible Bosses was hilarious. Super 8 was just ok, Source Code wasn't that great. Unknown was decent, but seemed like another "Taken." Adjustment Bureau was dreadful. I can't remember what else I saw, but that's it for the ones I remember. Edit: Rise of the Planet of the Apes was a lot better than I thought it would be. Edit 2: Just remembered I saw Ides of March. Thought it was pretty good for a political thriller, although the "twist" was a bit unnecessary and somewhat contrived. Still enjoyed it though.
  19. I have Boulder Dash as my #2 and El Toro as my #3. Voyage is #1. Honestly, all three (and Ravine Flyer) are so far above #5 and below, they might as well be tied.
  20. I think you're seeing things. It's ranked #105.
  21. ^Hard to tell, it changes every year. But it's usually within a few weeks of the wooden poll ending.
