  1. While Magnum's first drop is great in the back seat, I'm going to have to go ahead and say that the ejector seat is by far the best ride experience on any hyper on Earth. The only thing I can compare even remotely close is back seat on Apollo.
  2. Yeah, just to expand on the lunacy of this statement, the engineering behind the lift hill was basic physics. They turned it the lift hill into an arch, which isn't too complicated. Think about Skycoasters, all free standing arches (except for the A-frames). The engineering behind that couldn't have been that difficult. Making a material that is impervious to heat is just a moronic statement. This isn't Hollywood, it's real life. What do you want them to do, make wheels out of Unobtanium?
  3. There's a pretty solid chance I'll be there, so I went ahead and voted yes.
  4. Just based on comments I've overheard the few times I've been there the last two weeks, I can tell you that the gray out still occurs to most people on the first turn, including myself.
  5. There's no way they build an Intamin drop tower with another one just an hour away, is there?
  6. On my way home from Charlotte to Fredericksburg today I stopped by KD real quick right after closing and drove back on Doswell Road to take a look at 305 to see if anything had changed from last week. From the picture I took last week compared to what I saw today, the brake configuration is identical to what it was a week ago.
  7. I'm a stickler for operations (obviously since I work in operations). Slow/lethargic/nonchalant/rude/annoying ride ops get under my skin quicker than anything else. A friendly staff goes a LONG way, as well (Holiday World). As far as rides are concerned, I like to have some degree of comfort on a ride, but I realize that my height can restrict that at times. I don't really have a set list of criteria for what makes a ride enjoyable, other than how much fun I have while on it. Things like theming can make a ride more enjoyable (Splash Mountain) or make it suck horribly (Bizarro at SFGAd). Turning a ride into a grand experience (a la Disney, Universal, SeaWorld) can make an average/good ride even better. However, none of this is necessary. All I want is to have fun on a ride. Really not too complicated!
  8. Anaconda was mine, too. I was 9, and it scared the bejesus out of me!
  9. I hit #250 back in April, the SFA Ride of Steel. Was planning on hitting 300 later this year, but I don't think that's going to happen until 2011.
  10. ^^I honestly don't think B&M has anything that would significantly improve CP's collection right now. Sure, it would be nice to see more B&M there, but unless they come up with something new/unique/ground breaking for CP, I don't see CP using them any time in the near future. As far as what I think they need for a coaster, the list begins and ends with wood, but I'm fairly positive that's not the direction they're going next year. My money will be on a ZacSpin on DD's footprint until they announce otherwise.
  11. If I could quote this 100 times and not piss off the mods, I would. But what this guy said +100000000000000000000000
  12. Zach, the white fuzzies all over the place are cotton wood seeds.
  13. That's because you had the master behind the wheel.
  14. Robb, this guy is 4 for 4. Dude, the reason everyone is laughing AT you is because you sound like a child over a roller coaster getting slowed down. Seriously, take a step back, think about what exactly you're complaining about, re-evaluate how pathetic it makes you sound and how pathetic it makes your life sound, and then just take a chill pill. You know what I do with coasters I don't like? Yep, you guessed it, I don't ride them. It's a good philosophy, you should try it out. Thousands of people will appreciate the line being that much shorter. Nobody is calling you right or wrong over your opinion (that's why it's YOUR opinion), we're all just sitting back and enjoying the freak show as you and kdfansite go Chernobyl over the trims.
  15. I never experienced any problems with the water section being down any time I went to BGT, but then again, my visits were few and far between. I also thought it was a fun addition to the ride, but not entirely necessary. I'm sure it'll still be a pleasant attraction without the water.
  16. I think it's going to be an Aquatrax.
  17. I refer to that as "Working for Cedar Fair". Well played.
  18. Jameswilson88 is one of kdfansite's (yeah, THAT site, can you say train wreck full of sandy vaginas?) biggest whiny babies about this whole ordeal. He's probably one of those people that sleeps with a postcard of his favorite roller coaster under his pillow and refers to the rides as if they were real people. Every time someone like him offers an opinion on the ride it just comes off as a three year old child rolling on the floor of Food Lion because mommy and daddy wouldn't get him his favorite sugary cereal. I have no bias to the park, no bias to the ride, and I'm giving the most honest review of it I can possibly give. I rode it before and after the trims. While it certainly is not as fast or intense as it used to be, it's still a VERY high quality ride. For a park that had one of the worst coaster collections in the country until 2008, they should be a little more grateful.
  19. Likewise! Like I said today, just stop by Nighthawk in a couple weeks when you're down in my neck of the woods.
  20. Rode it 7 times today and wouldn't be surprised if 80 is now the top speed. However, the ride is still pretty awesome, and the first turn gray out is still in effect. The only REAL big change is the 2nd hill. The rest of the course still pulls major positive g's, the mini bunny hop after the 2nd hill still has great air, and now the final two hills have terrific airtime since they no longer have trims. It would be nice to have that speed back, but it is DEFINITELY more GP friendly now, which is obviously the goal for the park. I honestly don't think it's going to drop from #2 on my steel list. On a related note, while everyone says they like the back better now, I actually experienced more forces and airtime in the front today (rode 4 times in the front half and 3 in the back half). Maybe it was just me, but I definitely think the front is better at this point.
  21. I rode Hurler on Sunday with the trim on, and while the back three bunny hills still had decent enough air, the rest of them had practically none. However, it was definitely running smoother, at least.
  22. It's odd that they changed the speed for I305 no more than a week after the trims went in, yet they still have Superman at SFMM listed at 100 mph when management told us during WCB that it never goes faster than 85.
