Checking in on Rewind Racers. Been trying to get some shots of cars on the track, but there have been workers everywhere the last couple of visits. Anyway, the ramp was poured a week ago, the slab for the exit/entrance was being finished and the station is up. Blue walls are going up arond the park, so getting "drive by" pictures is going to be a little more difficult. Here's a few pictures, nothing major, but it's so close to being done! Cement poured for the entrance/exit. Exit ramp poured and cured last weekend. Why would they need privacy walls? The station from the street. The blue walls are slowly making their way around the whole front of the park. Anyone know what this is? And by popular demand...footers and dirt. A wood fence around Freeway Coaster. A better look at the station. As always, thanks for looking...leave a comment!

Photo TR: Six Flags Mexico

I shall have to plan a trip to this Mexico you speak of. -
Took a trip back to Adventure City for an update and found quite a bit of work going on. Different crews working on different projects like busy bees. The slabs for the loading/unloading area of the station are done, as well as the rebar and framing in place for the ADA ramp, which will be poured tomorrow. Gates are up, as well as the "Rewind Racers" sign. Some block walls are going in to finish off the area around the coaster and some wooden slats are being attached to the fence. They also started pouring footers to start finishing off the entrance. I'm told that the station should start getting skinned next week, and they are thinking April, possibly late March for the project to be complete. Pictures... More footers going in as they start to finish off the entrance and station. Gates are up, slab is poured. The skin should start going up on the station next week. Sign is up. Looking good from the street. ADA ramp will be poured tomorrow. So, look for that update soon. Privacy wall going up. Block walls finishing off the border of the coaster. Remember...there's TWO credits at this park. Well, there you have it. Should be an update in the next week or so. Ramp should be finished, station should be skinned, work should be started on the entrance, etc.. Really getting close to being finished. Thanks for looking.

As a bonus we got to take a closer look at the paint going on Scream. It's been awhile since this coaster has gotten any love, and it looks awesome! This is primer, and yes they are using rollers. It gives a thicker coat and will actually go faster than spraying. This is the real color. So there you have it. No, they didn't give an opening date, but did say "summer". Hopefully they keep up these tours and we can give you some more updates, but until then just drool over these pictures like Bill. Thanks for looking.

Now for the trains, we got a preview and they are awesome! There will be 4 trains, orange, purple, green and blue and here are some pictures... Let's have a look at the trains. The Official Club TPR car Robb ordered is here! Club TPR tramp stamp. And if you've ever had your seat disabled... Unwrapped and sexy! I volunteer to ride first and ensure the ride is working properly before any of you ride, it's the least I can do. Steam punk, put goggles on it! Nice lap bars, can't quite make out that note. You can see the totally legit note saving the front seat on the first train for me. Now, we also got a look at the painting going on over at Scream. Coming up next.

Okay, let's just keep this thread going. I had a chance to do the latest hard hat tour of Twisted Colossus and was told they will try to have a constuction tour a often as monthly. So, I'll try to post everything here, so you can get keep up to date and see just how far the progress has gone. Now, I am not one for details, but I will try to get the big ones in there for you. This tour was a lot more extensive than the last, since they have finished most of the cutting and reprofiling. The idea is to fit the structure to the track, not the track to the structure. So, you may see some areas cut down while others are built up as the track is fit together to prevent warping or binding of the track. You will also notice most of the debris has been removed and it looks like they are building something rather than cutting something down. Okay, pictures... Almost all of the landscaping has be chopped and cropped to make way for the new "Steam Punk" theming. The area of the new Twisted 'Wiches sandwich shop, is now completely minus trees and will get new concrete and landscaping. Bathrooms will get some love too. A new stairway will help you get to Twisted Colossus after you've had your twisted sandwich. They removed just about everything from the station. All the ride op stations are gone and the area where the other train went through has been covered over. Refurbishing the bridge means tearing the old stuff out. Straight section will be a brake run to control the speed through the station. You can see the old raised ride op area is gone. Green meets blue. Transfer modifications are finished. Green + Blue= TWISTED! Dirt and footers, people love dirt and footers. This is pretty much the receiving area, where everything is sorted out cataloged before it goes...where it goes. Motors. Blue stuff. Next up...Twisted Colossus!

Okay, so I went and took pictures over a week ago...and never posted them. Well, got ill, my kids had school projects, and I'm lazy too. Now, back on track, I went down to take some new pictures and found that there wasn't a ton of progress. There was rain off and on, so maybe that contributed, plus the stuff they are doing is subtle and I don't think you'd notice it in pictures. So, I decided to use my "old" pictures and then maybe head back next week, maybe get a peek at the cars, which are on the track. They plan to leave the cars covered until all the surrounding work is complete, just to be safe. So, here's an update. Cars on the track, I wish I was there to see them go on, but... I see you! Easy peasy steel building going up fast. Ramp is ready to be completed. Ramp is a little more complete than this, might have a picture of it, but until then...use your imagination. A little better view of the station. Export from Germany, if I could only tell from where? I need a roll of that tape, lol. Okay, so look for big things coming up, should start to look complete soon. Thanks for looking.

Stopped by to see progress on RR this week and found the ADA ramp being built. I believe this will also be the entrance, they chose a ramp over an elevator with the idea that this would also be easier for children, who make up the majority of their visitors. Also, the foundation for the station is poured, and being a steel building, should go up quickly once the ramp is completed. The cars have yet to make an aprearance, I'm told they are still in bubble wrap and probably will remain that way until the last minute. So, small update, and pictures... New signs ready to be put up when the coaster is finished. Trash cans will even get a make over too. What looks like a wall in the background is actually the ADA ramp, you can see the bricks are cut at an angle. Making quick work of it, should take about a week. Once the brick is layed another crew will come and finish the ramp. The ramp is literally right on the fence. This red guy is to check proper clearance. Train track had to be moved to clear the supports. It will make the train ride a lot more interesting. They will actually dig down in this area to get more clearance under the track. You'll walk under here. Foundation for the station is poured. The actual building will be a steel structure, should go up quickly. Next week should start to see this look nearly complete. They said they are not setting any date, trying to get things done properly rather than rush. So check back next week for some major progress. Thanks for looking, leave a comment!

A nice park with lots of rides for small kids. We actually went in the rain, but they still ran everything. The mine train is great, theming was awesome. The dragon swing shaped like a banana was the scariest swing I've been on, I swear I thought it was going to loop! Food is great, I hope they still sell the huge cinnamon rolls with icing, rivaled Dollywood's cinnamon bread. Of course the gardens are amazing too. Great report, looks as if they have done some maintenance and the park looks better than I remember.

Pictures from 12/21, you can see the chain is indeed installed, as well as they have put the cover over the chain on the bottom portion, the covers for the rest of the chain are sitting under the lift. Also, concrete has been poured and some of the station is starting to take shape. Pictures... Chain complete. Some covers installed Concrete. Not much left in here. I would like a roll of this tape. Should be ready to ride in no time.

Do kids still identify with Looney Tunes?
fatdaddy replied to Samuel's topic in Theme Parks, Roller Coasters, & Donkeys!
Looney Tunes has new cartoons that are somewhat popular, updated versions of the old characters, but still the same core characters. It just depends on which channel kids watch, the new shows, the old classic cartoons, Looney Tunes Babies, are all still on, even Animaniacs. I introduced my kids to the old cartoons on DVD, so when they find them on tv they watch them, and when the new cartoons came out they were excited to see them. BTW the new cartoons are pretty good, what they've done with Yosemite Sam and Daffy Duck is pretty awesome. -
Okay, so many of you may recall that I did a Holiday in the Park food update. Some things were less than amazing and some things not available at all, well let's revisit this subject again. Six Flags Magic Mountain invited Theme Park Review to sample the food offerings at their new holiday event. We headed up to Katty's Kettle and were treated to everything from tamales, to steak sandwiches, to carmel apples, and I must say there wasn't really a loser in the bunch (unless you count Kevin). The food dudes who put all these holiday treats together explained that they had a lot of trial and error getting the holiday menu right and we can probably just chalk that up to growing pains, as this is their first year. We then headed down to Cyber Cafe for a sampling of the offerings on that side of the park. Lots and lots of sugar...OMG! I thought my head was going to explode from all the sweet, rich, creamy...you name it, we ate it, and again all good. Cheesecake, lattes, brownies, etc., and also Holiday Leftover Dogs and Cranberry Wings. Now, last time the Holiday Dog bit back and I was not impressed, but this time they were actually really good, more like what I expected them to be the first time. Also last time I was so stuffed that I wasn't able to eat the cranberry wings, so I just sampled the sauce which I gave a thumbs up. This time I got the full wing treatment and really a great flavor, sweet and spicy, as I said before it reminds me of mexican candy. Lots of other samplings, too much to remember, but many food locations have holiday offerings and you can find them on the back of the Holiday in the Park map, as well as signs posted at locations that have special holiday treats. Again, I kind of did this report before, so we had a little fun with it just to keep it interesting. Okay pictures... Nothing says Christmas like giant killer owls that can camoflauge themselves in the snow. Two dudes that do foods. "Happy holidays, I'm a lovable Peep snowman!" Yeah, after seeing frozen...we don't need no Olaf infestations. Sorry little man made of snow, but you just got's to go. "I'll be back again some day!" Holy crap, it's Santa! He knows when your sleeping and he knows when you murder snowmen. Crap! Steak sandwich, ham, and a tamale...fa la la la la la la la la. It's a song, really. Kevin, you're on the naughty list! You get broccoli! Ho! Ho! Ho! Do you like potatos, corn and ham, do you like them Batman-I-Am? Will you eat ham with your hands, will you eat it while you stand, will you eat it by a trash can, does it taste good Batman-I-Am? Yup, it's good. Kevins four food groups: Meat, Fruit, Chocolate, and Fudge. Wait, where the hell did Kevin come from! The pepprmint bark is really good and...SNOWMAN!! Oh, nevermind it's already been staked in the head. I bet he's delicious. "I has been labotomized...EAT ME! You'll have to excuse Kevin, he has a drinking problem, he thinks it goes in his eye! Shut up Kevin! Brown stuff in a cup and a steak sandwich. Can't remember the brown stuffs name, chupacabra or something like that. Tamales...Awesome! Now, these should be totally available all the time during Holiday in the Park, the lady who sells tameles out of a stroller at Kmart never runs out and she sells them by the dozen. Steak sandwich might be my favorite. Tamales! Feliz Navidad! Jo! Jo! Jo! Santa would like tamales and hot chocolate instead of milk and cookies. No tamales, no present...ho! ho! ho! Thumbs up from Kevin for the tameles...SHUT UP KEVIN! Pepermint and Gingerbread carmel apples. Kids, Santa says "Carmel apples are fruit!" The spead that awaited was pretty extreme, ice cream, cheesecake, brownies, lattes, funnel cake, parfait, rice crispy treats...so much sugar! The raspberry gingerbread cheesecake...still awesome! Whole lotta latte, peppermint, english toffee, and pumpkin spice. Ever heard of "Grab-a-latte's"? These brownies are so rich your head might explode! Holiday leftover dog, cranberry sauce, stuffing, on a turkey dog. Santa loves Holiday Leftover Turkey Dogs, fatdaddy is now on the naughty list for not liking them. Seriously, really good. Spicy cranberry wings are highly recommended, not hot, sweet and spicey. Cranberry wings are Kevin approved! Shut up Kevin! So there you have it, lots of great holiday foods, reasonably priced, and only available during Holiday in the Park. We also got peppermint cotton candy and popcorn, if you need your holiday peppermint fix, well these'll fix ya! Great event and thanks to Six Flags Magic Mountain for inviting us, it was awesome, minus the sugar hangover the next day. LOL! Oh, and that wasn't really Santa, just me in a hat, but FYI...I'm Batman!
