  1. Looks like fun, lots of activities and culture credits for KT.
  2. Okay, tonight we had an opportunity to preview the new Metro Park Pub in the soon to be open Metropolis area of Six Flags Magic Mountain, which will also be home to "Justice League: Battle for Metropolis" (Opening July 12!). This is an outdoor beer garden that not only has beer, but great bar food as well. We were treated to everything from flatbread pizza, to fried shrimp, and even a vegetarian kale salad(For the vegis out there, SFMM is trying to put at least one vegetarian option at all food locations in the park.) At the moment there are bottled selections, but beer on tap will be installed shortly. There's a stage for live entertainment and plenty of seating with umbrellas for shade. I will say it was very nice in the evening, very shady and cool with a nice atmosphere. As this is a thread for JL:BFM, the official opening date is July 12, with technical rehearsal the July 9-10. Remember technical rehearsal means no guarantees, it may or may not run at any time! Other fun stuff, free admission is being offered to anyone who dresses up in full DC character costume on opening day July 12. Now this doesn't mean you wear your favorite Superman shirt, it means an actual costume. Details should be released shortly on the Six Flags Magic Mountain website, and you will have to sign up to get your free admission. Okay, pictures... Beer here! Quite a large area, should be very popular. Some sort of seating area. I was wondering if there is a smoking area, and if so, is this it? I do not know. Nice long tables for all our friends! Also, bar stools if you have no friends...the shrimp will be your friend. Plant with a rock in it. Stage for live entertainment, or possibly they are going to stomp grapes and make Six Flags wine. Pass out here. Kidding, drink responsibly! Long row of bar stools. This will be where you pick up your food. Chris Parker was in charge of food and did an amazing job. Kale salad, it was um...yeah, I didn't eat any, but those who did said it was good. If you're really hungry you can order the trough of pork rinds! No, really it's for the pork rind nachos...yes...pork...rind...nachos. Did I mention they are topped with meat? Beer battered fish and chips. If you like fried fish, this is good stuff. The fish was good, the shirmp was awesome! Fried cheese curds! I think these would even meet Elissa's standards, and she doesn't fool around when it comes to cheese! These pizzas are very good, the flatbread crust had a really great taste and texture. i actually took the end pieces, because I liked the crust. Very good. Fried green beans, not bad, I actually ate a few. Did I mention fried cheese? Cause, um...FRIED CHEESE! Metropolis, city of... Dirt, the public loves dirt! Sandwiches maybe? Can't put my finger on it, but something isn't done? Opening July 12th, because...JUSTICE! Thank you to Six Flags Magic Mountain, the Metro Park Pub turned out great! Okay, there you go, and thanks to Six Flags Magic Mountain for inviting us for a beer and some great food! As I've been doing the last few trips I had berryfarm help with taking some extra photos, so stay tuned for her post. Definitely more pictures of the Justice League ride.
  3. Justice League: Battle for Metropolis open officially on July 12, "technical rehearsal" July 9 & 10 (remember that means no guarantee if/when it'll be running). The new Metro Park Pub will be open to pass holders tomorrow, and officially on the July 12 with JLBFM. No details yet, but free admission to anyone coming dressed in full DC character costume, detail will be posted to the Six Flags Magic Mountain website, so if you are interested keep checking their website for details (you will need to sign up). Look for a report about the new Metro Park Pub coming up!
  4. Six Flags Magic Mountain invited TPR to the opening night of their new live show Throttle Up Dueling Pianos at the FullThrottle Sports Bar. Now, in my mind I'm thinking "Two guys shooting at each other while they play piano, and I drink beer, awesome!", but my imagination may have been a little too vivid. So, what are dueling pianos? It's two piano players taking your request and playing them live while you sing along, clap along, and enjoy your favorite beer and bar food! All that and air conditioning too! Now, the request need not be Beethoven, or even Jerry Lee Lewis, any song new or old can be requested and they'll try to bang it out...ON A PIANO! Yeah, sounds weird, but it was actually fun to see just what they were going to attempt to play next. Sure, they played some classic piano songs, Billy Joel and Elton John, but they also played AC/DC and Metallica...seriously, they did, I'm still confused, but it was fun...I think. FullThrottle Sports Bar has a large selection of beer, and some pretty great bar food. Mix that with the fun of live entertainment, a seat to rest your butt on, and some air conditioning...that's a good time! Thanks to Six Flags Magic Mountain for inviting us. Throttle Up Dueling Pianos runs select day Memorial Day - Labor Day, hope you check it out! Okay, pictures, possibly video(later), but for now... On the way in I caught a little of the FullThrottle Nights dancers. Write your request on a paper and if your lucky you'll hear it live...on a piano! Pork rinds with some steak, cheese, jalapenos, marshmallow topping...no wait that's sour cream, and don't forget the beer! Totally low carb! Chicken quesadilla, chips, salsa, guacamole. The lettuce makes this a salad. Mozzarella sticks, I may have eaten one, or two, or ten... Send up your requests. Sometimes one song takes two pianos...amazing! So, now I'll see if I can find the videos, I know there on my camera, just can't figure out where. But, there are some on my phone, so that might work. I'm rambling, too many pork rinds. In any case, visit FullThrottle Sports Bar and check out Throttle Up Dueling Pianos, and have a beer, and maybe some pork rinds. One more thing, I took along my trusty assistant berryfarm, who also took pictures and video, so look for a post from her. Should be good.
  5. Many of you may have wondered, "Where's Superman?!", while visiting DC Universe. Yes, there's a ride dedicated to Superman, but before today you could not get a photo taken with "The Man of Steel" himself! Six Flags Magic Mountain finally has Superman in DC Universe and he arrived today with a lot of fanfare! In case you forgot where we are. All decked out for Superman's arrival. Super balloons. Hyping the crowd. Are you ready for Superman! Kaa-BOOM! Look, up on the stage, it's a bird, it's a... It's Superman! "I'm Superman." Sup's ready for pictures. Kids love Superman! My girls snuck in for a picture. Line got long fast. Fire Department might be the real superhero's here. I'm Superman! Dance contest to get the Superman party rolling. Party crasher, reminds me of the Lego Batman Movie. "Na na na na na na na na....BATMAN!!! Your here to see me right?" And, thanks Six Flags Magic Mountain for the invite, Superman is an awesome addition to the character line up!
  6. ^ Is that a water bottle? What a**hole was drinking water? So many reporters were just tasting drinks and leaving them. I saw a waitress with a full tray of throw away drinks! There were a lot of drinks to sample, but I just couldn't bring myself to leave a perfectly good (some very good) drink. All drinks were finished, no water was consumed.
  7. Did I mention Jimmy Buffett put on a hell of a show? Wastin' away again in... Everybody dance! Cheeseburger in Paradise... No visit is complete without a visit to the giftshop. Lots of cool stuff. For the parrot head in the family. Thanks to Jimmy Buffett, Margaritaville, and CityWalk for a great time! Thanks for looking, leave a comment!
  8. TPR was invited to the grand opening of the brand new Margaritaville at Universal Studios Hollywood's City Walk, including a live performance from the man himself Jimmy Buffet. We started the night with a quick run through of the new restaurant/bar which has awesome tropical theming, if you want the feel of eating that "Cheeseburger in Paradise", then this is the place. The 5 o'clock Somewhere Bar has a great selection of Margaritaville Spirits, not to mention LandShark beer. Many tropical drinks on the menu, of course the Margarita's were something special. The menu is far from average, with everything from jambalaya, to nachos. I found myself wanting to go back just based on the menu options, but the theming makes it that much more attractive. I will definitely be heading back to CityWalk for another visit to Margaritaville soon. Jimmy Buffett put on a great performance of hits that I'm sure everyone knows, including of course, Margaritaville and Cheeseburger in Paradise. A great show, great food, great drink, great new restaurant! And pictures... Go here! Do it now! Awesome boat themed booth. In case you forgot where we were. Another themed area. "Tiki god says drink another margarita!" Ever heard of this guy? We totally drank this much margaritas! Listen to this on the way to CityWalk. Had to turn this girl down because she was too tall, really, she was totally in to me. Indeed it's 5 o'clock Somewhere, especially at this bar! Full line of Margaritaville booze, and it's good stuff! I'll take 4! Lot's of tropical drinks to be made. Perfectly mixed drinks. LandShark for the win! Never refuse carne asada from a beautiful woman, words to live by. Eat this shrimp! Cheeseburger in Paradise... This was my favorite. A sample of everything. Hell yeah I want dessert! Still working, more to come...
  9. As promised, more pictures! Now in no particular order, and courtesy of "berryfarm"... Thanks Six Flags Magic Mountain for inviting us! Possibly a few more.
  10. And here's more... This is why we needed the hardhats. Boxes of construction crap. Tuby things. Not sure how this works, but there's a marking on the floor next to it, so it must be important! Queue up here. Electrical looking stuff. Outside, electrical looking stuff. Connie parked her truck here. All this should get a facelift. Beer garden somewhere back here. Roller coaster. Beer. Behind the scenes, really, cause it's the back of the building. Then beer garden area seems like it will be a decent size. Now about those beer prices? Full frontal. No more gas station. Roller coaster over there, might get paint. And that's all I got! I did however take along Jennifer (berryfarm) to help taking pictures and I will be posting those after a break.
  11. We were invited to take a hardhat tour of SFMM's new "Justice League - Battle for Metropolis" dark ride. Not much in terms of the actual ride has been installed, but the ride building is up and the surrounding area is being transformed. Gas station and climbing wall are gone, and the area for the beer garden is being prepared. Much of the area will remain the same, with new theming and landscape changes to fit the Metropolis re-theme. Okay, pictures... When they say "hardhat tour"...THEY MEAN IT! Yes, I've got a helmet on for this tour, that's how excited I am! When you see this guy, there is sure to be everybody's favorite...footers and dirt! Footer, as promised! This area remans mostly the same with some landscaping. Queue goes over there. Rock wall gone. Gift shop goes here, I think, pretty sure it does... Ride goes in here. This building is quite large. Hard at work. You put your left foot in, you put your left foot out...no, really he's pointing at the square on the floor where the ride thing goes. There it is! This is the path of the ride vehicle. I need all this trash to finish building my go-cart! Tools, very important for building rides. All sort of fasteners...FACINATING! More to come...
  12. The point being that they are still being vague about about some things, other than the ride itself that is.
  13. And according to Theme Park Review and official renderings of "Justice League - Battle for Metropolis 4D" from SFMM... Remember these are just renderings and nothing is set in stone.
  14. Doing this from my car by the way... If the Universe is Rockin', don't come a knockin', or something. But really come see the light show. Tree. Three different shows, one every 15 minutes, all worth a look. Stand here! So many lights! More trimmed bush! Even Tatsu is in the holiday spirit. Lollipop, lollipop, oh...hey they got turkey legs over here! Don't worry about dinner, Mrs. Clause has it covered. Probably covered with Mac n' Cheese, but covered none the less. Buy this, hot cider makes me happy! On the menu for HIP. Gifts for good girls and boys...and hot chicks, don't forget the hot chicks! Find Santa here. Waiting for your Christmas list. The jolly fat man himself! NO! Not me! I said "jolly" fat man. Fun for the kids! Excellent sloth sweater. Who wouldn't trust a guy who has a sloth sweater and fire? I prefer to hold my marshmallows out on X2 and wait for the fire. Joking, really. The white lights of Winter Wonderland. In case you forgot. Please do not lick the peppermint guy... Not sure what she's supposed to be, but her hair is green and that makes it festive. Wait, isn't Jaguar at...oh, different jaguar. Smore's! Peppermint everything! Bacon and Mac n' Cheese on a hamburger...OH...YEAH! Cinnamon Bun Batter ice cream is great! My favorite was the cheesecake, need to go back and get more. Just a little sampling, a little. Okay we overdid it a little. A little window shopping, but since they won't sell me the window, I'll take a shirt. Festive HIP sweatshirt. Lots of holiday swag. Need this! Take your pick! Holiday Santa poop hats...AWESOME!!! The majestic water tree. The most colorfully lit area of the park is at the entrance. Those random snow flurries in SoCal...every 20 minutes actually. Well, that's all I have, thanks to Six Flags Magic Mountain for putting on such a wonderful event and inviting us to sample and experience all it has to offer. I would also like to thank Jennifer (berryfarm) for helping out, about half of the pictures were hers and she did an excellent job. If you want a holiday even that has little of everything, check out Holiday in the Park, you won't be disappointed! Thanks for looking, leave a comment!
  15. Back at it... Gleampunk District. Photo op and live entertainment here. You need to see this, gives a whole new meaning to staring at the wall. Steampunk Santa. Oh yeah! I know what that red light means! It means the bulb is red. Twisted Colossus ready for the holidays. Please do not lick the peppermint guy, it makes him sticky. I know when you are sleeping, I know when you're awake, I also know what you had for lunch because I have xray eyes. Robot Santa! Dancing. Singing, which I'm not a fan of, but if you like it, then this is the show for you. KwerkMas! Some kind of reverse firefighters, they go up the pole instead of down and they don't put out fires either. Trapeze! Um, moving on... Not a hulahoop. Fire! It's magic! Unfortunately he was eaten alive by killer bees at the end of the show, or he did a snowflake trick, one of those two. Dude is wearing a cape. Caught in a new or something, kept flipping over and spinning around, eventually got out, or maybe it was on purpose. Entertaining either way. Trampoline guys were the best! I would watch a show of just them. Still working, taking a break, be right back...
  16. Six Flags Magic Mountain invited us to check out this seasons Holiday in the Park event, which has been growing in popularity over the past few years. The decorations and lights start at the park entrance and continue in different locations around the park. Endless numbers of brightly colored holiday lights decorate the park, along with holiday character interactions, music, shows, falling snow, and you can even roast s'mores over a fire pit. There are also holiday food items available throughout the park, including a holiday hot beverage cup that is refillable with hot chocolate or hot apple cider. Holiday treats range from the traditional pumpkin pie, tamales, and gingerbread, to holiday themed park foods like Mint Cookie Crunch Dippin' Dots, Pumpkin Pie flavored shakes, and Cranberry Sweet Chili Wings. A selection of holiday flavored fudge, peppermint bark, and other holiday themed confections is also available if you like your holidays covered in chocolate. Stop by Katy's Kettle for a turkey leg dinner, a Mac n' Cheeseburger, Mac n' Cheese stuffed baked potato...MAC N' CHEESE!!! Remember to get a Holiday in the Park guide map to lead you to all the holiday food. As if the lights, and food weren't enough, they've also included a ton of entertainment. The holiday themed Kwerkmas show in the new Gleampunk District has music, dancing, and acrobatics. Snowy Nights in Full Throttle Plaza includes live holiday music from the Mistletones, Tinsel Toy Dancers, a DJ, and more. The light show in DC Universe with thousands of programmed lights is always amazing, with three different shows to see, one starting every 15 minutes. Holiday Square at the park entrance features Looney Toons character interactions, carolers, and snowfall every 20 minutes. The new Santa's Star Spangled Plaza is located just outside of The New Revolution with stiltwalking toy soldiers, a giant lighted christmas tree, and the new Santa's Wild Sleigh Ride VR coaster, where you take a wild ride with Santa on his sleigh. Of course, remember visit Santa in Winter Wonderland. Again, get the HIP park guide so you don't miss anything. The event takes place November 19-27, December 3,4,10,11,17-24,26-31, and January 1. Holiday in the Park begins at 5 pm. Make sure to add this to your holiday activity list, bring the kid to see Santa, see a show, eat some treats. We got to sample all the Holiday food and experience the great live entertainment. Very impressed and on par with other holiday events in the area. I highly recommend the gingerbread cheesecake, and the hot cider makes it feel like it's holiday time. The VR sleigh ride with Santa is not to be missed! This event truly gets better every year. Thanks to Six Flags Magic Mountain for inviting us to this awesome event! And pictures... Holiday in the Park! Shouldn't there be a moose out front instead? Flakey! Get one of these if you want to know everything there is to do and where to find it. Bugs decked out for the holidays Photo op. Ready to start the holiday fun! You can take a virtual ride along with Santa in his sleigh! Really the holiday VR is awesome, great graphics and you finally know what it's like to ride with Santa! Unlit, but still nice. Something goes here. Apparently Jennifer likes to creep around in the bushes and take pictures of dirt. HIP, but you don't need to be a hipster, please don't be a hipster. My favorite item, you need this! Wings are always good. If you like sweet potatoes, eat this! Corn with stuff, just try it. We tried a little of everything. Tamales! Holiday dog had mayo, which I'm not a fan of, but it wasn't bad. So much talk about trimming the tree, but have you trimmed your bush? Moving on. The rest of him got eaten by zombies at Fright Fest. Nice! Lit! Do this! Lines got long for the VR Santa sleigh ride, but totally worth the wait. Magical! My favorite item, you need this! Wings are always good. Still working, more to come... Trees looking a little sad, lots of lights out...FIX IT!!! Live entertainment!
  17. I could see this as an upcharge attraction at smaller parks or tourist areas in the US, it's an interesting concept that has a lot of potential.
  18. Since I get banned regularly from Facebook, I've been forced to use Twitter. I'm not sure what changes they've made, but it seems easier to use than I remember. The problem is that I find Twitter is being used to direct me to things that are posted on FB or Instagram, nobody seems to use Twitter as their primary social media app. Not only that, but a lot of the personal acounts of athletes, celebrities, etc. seem to be only on FB, so by using only Twitter I am missing a lot of content because it simply isn't posted to Twitter at all. In the end I've set up FB to be only for personal accounts, no business or other accounts that would allow people to "report" me, but by doing so I no longer have any access to many pages that just don't use Twitter at all.
  19. I vaguely remember... Mysterious woman whores out dragon coaster credit.
  20. Okay, here we go again... I got one picture out of the entire maze, perhaps if they let us use a little lighting we could actually show off the maze. Willoughby's Resurrected. This is pretty much Willoughby's Garden of Darkness, not the greatest maze ever. Exile Hill Some guy stuck in a tree, I'm going to leave him there. Demon's Door! Possibly one of the best scare zones in the park. Not sure what this is, but it's tall! Wristbands sold here. Wristbands cost this much. Vault 666, not to be missed! Crowds looked like this. Human/animal experimtation...what could go wrong/ This nice lady says everything will be alright. This is normal right? Toyz of Terror 3D Oh the horror of it all! Red's Revenge The biggest line I saw, well over an hour. Spider! TERRORtory Twisted! Another round of Suicide Squad, Joker's here, so I'll go take care of Harley. It's the least I can do. She's not here!!! Found Croc and Katana! There you are! Sorry sweetheart, I gotta go. Pictues with Killer Croc. Don't forget Voodoo Nights! Thanks Six Flags Magic Mountain for a great event, and to the haunt talent for putting on a great show...and Harley for being...Harley! There you go, great event, a little cheaper than the others and Harley Quinn! Thanks for looking, leave a comment!
  21. We attended the opening of Six Flags Magic Mountains Fright Fest this weekend, and what used to be a less than stellar event has turned into a full blown haunt. I was surprised at the number of people there specifically for Fright Fest, there was a time when people were oblivious to the fact that there was a haunt happening right in front them and were more concerned with riding roller coasters. With the improvements made over the past few years this event is approaching the quality of some of the bigger haunts. Now, this event used to be free with admission and the scare zones still are, but if you want to enter the mazes you'll need a wristband. Wristbands will cost you $20 General and $35 for Express Access. Which, the lines do get long for the better mazes (over an hour), so if you don't like to wait, get the Express Access. There's also a season pass discount and the option of upgrading your General pass to Express if you find the lines too long. There are 7 mazes, 7 scare zones, rides in the dark on your favorite coasters and stage shows for your entertainment. Also a Demonic Dining buffet is available Saturdays in October. Make sure to add this to your haunt list this year, especially is you haven't been in awhile. The highlights for me were Aftermath 2: Chaos Rising, an updated version of the old outdoor maze, 3 times the size and with a more cohesive storyline. Vault 666 is a great maze and on par with the other haunts in the area, great sets and lots of effects. Red's Revenge has a very creepy feel and a nice back story to set you in the mood, this also had the longest lines of the night, so plan accordingly. The scare zones were well done, Demon's Door at the entrance to the park had tons of monsters, lighting, and even fire effects. And of course, Suicide Squad was awesome! All the characters were dead on from the movie and the lighting, video mapping and pyro effects were amazing. My favorite of course was Harley Quinn, who along with Joker, had very long lines for pictures. The lines did die down later in the night, and they did change sets throughout evening, so this may be worth more than one visit if you are a fan of the movie, or just of Harley Quinn. Well, that's about all I have, so here are some pictures... You say there's beer?! Two beers and I sampled both, just a sip of each. Snacks to fuel us during the scares. Can't remember what this is called, but it had peanuts in it and was very brittle. These people are nuts! I mean, these nuts, are nuts, because they're nuts. The worms crawl in, the worms crawl out... Fried Oreo's and some buffalo wings. Warning: I've had two beers and I'm looking for Harley Quinn! Suicide Squad!!! People lined up to take pictures with some Joker. Although I didn't like this version of the Joker in the movie, he was having a lot of fun with the crowd. Eye's of the Advesary? I think. My girl with her fans. It only looks like she's smiling at the camer, she's totally thinking of me! Fire! Pyro and video mapping to create Diablo's fire! These projections change throughout the night. Aftermath 2: Chaos Rising Might be some small fire effects. Crap, box is open! Friend or foe? It's so hard to tell! Just pile the dead ones in the corner. Mayhem around every corner! Nice girl, or creppy zombie? Entering Nightmares - A Twisted Fantasy. Something tells me those weren't just regular mushrooms! Stay away, or I'll saute you with some some wine and garlic! Chupa mi...I mena, Chupacabra...Chupa...cabra...goat sucker...really. Okay, still working, more to come inclucing: Reds Revenge, Toys of Terror 3D, Demons Door and more Harley Quinn!
