Got back from Six Flags MM (on Sunday). I was too tired to write this last night. Anyway, I had a good day at the park--didn't seem too crowded for a Sunday, maybe it was, but it didn't seem like it. Flashpass really doesn't seem necessary for a day like this. I started the day by running to Terminator/Deja Vu. Ride report: Terminator 2x Deja Vu 1x Goldrusher 1x Riddlers Revenge 1x Batman 1x Scream 1x Colossus 1x Goliath 1x GOT SOMETHING TO EAT (1:30 - 2:10) CSI: Live (2:30 - 3:00) x2 1x Revolution 1x Viper 1x Tatsu 1x Goliath 1x Tatsu 1x Roaring Rapids 1x Log Jammer 3x I saw Ninja was open early in the morning when I was speed walking toward Cyclone Bay. However, I was unable to ride it today because it was closed for the rest of the day. I don't know why though. I would have rode Superman just to say that I got all the thrill rides in at Six Flags in a day (aside from Ninja) but the line was too long, it was starting to protrude out the entrance into the building (WEIRD) and we all know that's not worth it. As most of you should know, Terminator is back to running 2 trains. It didn't matter for me as I was so early that of course there was no line and I got to skip the preshow. That's cool! Deja Vu broke down right as I was going to get on (within 15 minutes of the park opening I guess). It wasn't anything major, they just had a slight problem or something. I asked about it but the ride ops didn't state anything specific. It got me wondering whether Deja Vu is as prone to technical problems like the other ones that were located at other Six Flags parks (before they were closed, demolished, etc) and whether or not our Deja Vu could suffer a similar fate. I think I could have done a lot better as far as my ride report is concerned. I really wanted to ride a lot of rides multiple times, I had a great shot at it but I was with friends who aren't as crazy as I am when it comes to doing these things. If I was, I would have rode Goliath at least 5 times, maybe Tatsu several times and probably x2 twice. I finished up everything on the list above except for Roaring Rapids and Log Jammer by 7 PM. So I had time there. Anyway, it was a good day.

I heard that the coaster was coming in 2010 and Wiggles World was coming in 2011 as well as some new Hurricane Harbor slides. If worse comes to worse, and the new ride comes out in 2011, I hope it is something special. I'm a greedy bastard---I'm wishing for something like a Kingda Ka of our own to be honest

SFMM will be an adequate alternative to get you fix on from now on -
I just went, first time since 2005, and I went on a Friday. Most guys say buy the flash pass and stuff, but I don't think it is necessary if you plan on going during the week and if your objective is just to get to experience each individual ride. That's not to say that you can't ride rides a couple of times or several times. I rode Tatsu 3x and Goliath 4x, but by going with the ride plan that is quoted below, you really limit yourself to riding Deja Vu, X2, and Terminator one time. I agree with all of the points right here from Calicoasters (below): This is what I've always done since 2004-2005. I won't be doing it anymore though the next time I go which will probably be next week. But it's a good way of being able to ride all the rides and you have more than an adequate amount of time (if you stay at the park from opening to closing to be certain) to get all the rides in. Follow this type of sequence if you want: Goliath --Scream--Colossus--Batman--Riddlers--Tidal Wave (not the ride, just the bridge lol)--Goldrusher--Superman--Ninja--Terminator--Deja Vu--Tatsu--Roaring Rapids--Viper--X2--Revolution. ^^ IF you want to minimize the amount of walking you do, that sort of thing. Of course I omitted flat rides and what not, but I'm just not concerned for the flat rides. I went with something similar to this when I went on a past Friday (did Deja Vu after X2 and finished things off with Goliath 2x). Terminator would probably have 2 hour long line (1 train), and Deja Vu will have a long line simultaneously during the time you arrive at that end of the park if you followed this ride sequence. I'd skip Deja Vu and save it for later in the night if so, when the line dies down. Finished things with Goliath because it had little, no line at night (830 - 930 PM) Good luck. Hope you enjoy what MM has to offer. I tried to help.

How can someone say Deja Vu is the worst ride in California? Deja Vu with row 16 = is AWESOME (no where near the worst) Anyways, from the parks I've been to in California (SFMM, Knotts) Recent: Best - X2/Goliath/Xcelerator Worst - Goldrusher/Jaguar/Superman The Escape (if you want to count it as one).

LOL, running one train on your brand new roller coaster. FAIL! Tell me about it. When waiting in the queue, you'd only see the train once every 4-5 minutes. Train 1 was only one being used (judging by the back where it has a number). Train 2 was off the track and stored to the right in that section where you just about finished the ride. Really upsetting when it wasted a lot of time. I don't know if this was a ploy to make the ride look extremely popular or what, but many people didn't like the wait they had to endure. Many people entered the line and exited. I saw the Michael Jackson Dangerous thing on the Tvs (the re runs of the same things) about 3-4 times LMAO.

Thought I'd post this in here. I got back from the park late last night (around 11 ish). I was going to post something like this then, but was too tired. This was my first trip to the park since Dec 2005, so there were a lot of changes to the park from the past. One being the way they do season passes, others include the prices for things haha ; but I was amazed at how the park was quite clean. I enjoyed riding X2 and Tatsu. I'll get back into a few things regarding these later. Anyway here's my ride report. I wanted to get in all the coasters that I could in a day. This is definitely feasible on a Friday I guess. Rides Rode (in order) Goliath 2x (4x overall) Scream 1x Colossus 1x Batman 1x Riddlers 1x Tidal Wave 1x Goldrusher 1x Superman The Escape 1x Terminator Salvation 1x Viper 1x Tatsu 1x (3x overall) Roaring Rapids 1x X2 1x Tatsu 2x (3x overall) Deja Vu 1x Goliath 2x (4x overall) Left the park at 9:25 PM Rides I didn't feel like riding: Ninja Revolution After this, rides I won't ever come to MM to ride again: Superman Goldrusher Batman Terminator Salvation was pretty good, but not worth waiting 125 minutes for. They ran only 1 train yesterday, which was pretty upsetting. I endured the wait, but still am pretty pissed about them having one train and all. Anyone know if this is normal for them to have 1 train or anything during the weekdays I guess? The preshow seems pretty pointless to be honest. I really didn't care for it much aside from it getting us out of the sun. I didn't really understand what was happening either. Haha The audio was working as well as the fire and everything. Other than that, when I first rode Tatsu, it was pretty good. However, my train got stuck prior to being unloaded. So we had to wait 20 minutes in that upturned position until maintenance arrived to manually unlock us to get us out. We got an exit clearance for this (flash pass in a sense), but we could only redeem for any ride other than Deja Vu, X2, or Terminator. My friend I chose Roaring rapids since that had a real long wait and we intended to ride it. X2 was really great. It slightly broke down twice when we were in line I think. The audio, fire, and everything were working as expected. I didn't have a lot of head banging to worry about being that my head exceeds the shoulder restraints, etc. However, at near the end of the ride, there's a part where the train jerks or something where my legs are forcibly swung and so they kept hitting against row of the train. That hurt and that was crazy. I don't quite know how to explain it. I guess it is like when the train jerks or something. Other that, it was a solid experience just like X and the next time I return to the park I will run to X2 first and ride it a couple of times.

Thanks for the information, guys. I'm definitely going to go on Friday then. I'm probably going to buy my season pass at the park, I have to get there pretty early around 830-9 ish to meet up with some friends....so I don't think the season pass processing line for me would be that much to deal with. A couple of final questions about the season pass: 1 Do you pay for it at the ticket booth as if you were to buy a general admission? 2 It's the same price as online right ($63.99)? 3 I'm considering processing it later as you (cooksta) made reference to; can I get into the park without having everything processed Sorry about forgetting something as simple as this haha. Thanks for all your help. Just want to be sure on things like the price because I'm coming with limited cash, about $90. Thanks for all your help guys.

Hey guys, I'm usually giving some help and advice of my own on Six Flags MM but now I think I could use some of your help. I was planning on going to Six Flags MM this weekend, either Friday, Saturday, or Sunday (17, 18, 19). I haven't been to Six Flags MM since Dec 30, 2005. What day would typically be less crowded from your experience? Also are there any rides that are not in operation at the moment? Lastly, this question is regarding the season pass. The last time I bought a season pass was for the 2005 season so I forgot a lot of things as to how it works. I know that I have to go through the whole processing process to get my pass. Does the processing place open up prior to the park opening or at the same time the gates open? I appreciate any help. Thanks guys.

Entertaining, funny ride ops.
GivenOneChance replied to GivenOneChance's topic in Theme Parks, Roller Coasters, & Donkeys!
Hahah I've heard similar before. I love that. -
@michielh3 ^^^ I really don't think Batman is worth riding twice or Riddler's Revenge though the window is open to do those things without worrying about lines. I wouldn't do it personally...but then again I've rode them many times lol. I also wouldn't waste the flash pass on Goliath ( I don't know whether it is a waste (as in whether you get a limit or not--I never used them before), but its just because I have the opportunity to ride it many times at no cost first thing in the morning. The last time I went to the park I followed what I did above. I rode Goliath 2 times to start. Then I went to Scream and rode it 3 times. Then Colossus and rode that once. Followed by Batman and Riddlers. I rode Riddlers twice (which gave my a headache -- I don't really like the ride to be honest, just the song they play by Sash!--Ecuador Bruce Wayne mix lol). Was burnt out after that....because it can really get hot here especially in the summer...so I went on Tidal Wave and then I stood on the bridge and got soaked. After that I chilled for like 30 minutes and then went on Goldrusher and then up the long upward path to Superman and Ninja. When I did this little sequence I finished riding everything from Goliath to Deja Vu prior to noon, 1 PM. Though I didn't ride any of the flat rides so I don't factor them in. I know I digressed and didn't really answer your post... perhaps try something like start with Deja Vu and Terminator first (go to the very back of the park . Then work your way down to Goliath (the opposite of what I do). I guess you could leave the cluster (Superman, Tatsu, and Ninja) for when you ride Tatsu whenever that is. But you should be able to get multiple rides on a couple of those rides (Deja Vu, Terminator, Goldrusher, Batman, Riddlers, Scream, Colossus) by 1130 AM and then you don't really have to worry about going back to that end of the park...pick up your flash pass, head back to Goliath then maybe gravitate toward Revolution, X2, Viper, and then up to where they have the rapids/Tatsu/Ninja/Superman. It is definitely possible to ride every ride if you can get to the park early and knock out the rides that will have no attendance for the first hour of operation. Just whatever you do try to limit the amount of walking that you do. The park is huge and can be tiresome. I suggest google for the SFMM map and plan with it. As in the direction you'll take going from ride to ride. Good luck. All this talking about this makes me really want to go back to Six Flags MM sometime.

I'm also going for my first trip to sfmm this year, on a saturday in july , and I've got myself a gold flash pass But everyone gave me the advice to rush to X2 first , not to go to Goliath.. Is that because x2 has no flash pass and the toher rides do , or is that for others reasons ? I never used or purchased a flash pass or anything. I do this because I've had a great experience being able to knock out all the rides there are to ride. I usually always save X2 for later in the day, night as I am willing to deal with the line for that ride. I'm probably speaking that that is a good strategy to take if you don't have a flash pass or anything otherwise it wouldn't really matter as you won't have to worry about lines necessarily. But if you go toward Goliath (that end of the park) especially early in the morning you're not going to face any lines for awhile for the rides in the area. Plus if you want to you can ride Goliath, Scream, Riddler's, Batman multiple times while you're at it. Most people will head off to X2 or Tatsu (that's where the majority of the morning crowd gravitated toward (though this is my experience prior to Terminator). I go to Goliath and knock out every ride on that end of the park as I mentioned (Goliath, Scream, Colossus, Batman, Tidal Wave (if it is open ) Riddler's, Goldrusher). It's like a precise sequence one after the other. Then you'll gradually make your way up to where you can ride Superman and Ninja. Then head back down to Deja Vu and Terminator. Then I just worry about riding X2 and Tatsu. Revolution and Viper are never a problem (for me) when it comes to lines throughout the day. Though I usually ride Viper last. After waiting a hour or two for X2 usually I get off and there's about 20 minutes before the park is closed so I just go to Viper and ride a couple of times. Good luck with your trip.

I'm sure we are full aware that there are many ride operators who bluntly don't take their job seriously. We even have a thread to talk about all the stupid things ride operators do and the bad experiences we have had with them. However, I thought I'd start this thread. I didn't see anything like it. So I just wanted to know what are some funny things, entertaining things you've seen ride ops do that made your experience an enjoyable one? I can't recall what ride I was on, this was a while back (I was at Knotts Berry Farm). The ride op would use the loudspeaker to kinda engage the riders. He'd say things like "don't be scurred (scared)!", step up to the plate." Overall he had a good voice for what he was doing and I guess it helped build up anticipation prior to riding. What are some of your good experiences with ride ops, if at all?
-
If I were you I would go to the end of the park away from X2, Viper, Revolution. If you get to the park early in the morning you'll be able to knock out a lot of the rides you want to experience like Scream, Goliath, Riddler's, Batman, etc with no wait (line). You could take on rides like X2 and Tatsu later on in the day (of course probably with lines, but this strategy is definitely manageable if it is your intention to experience all the rides at the park). So if I were you I would make sure I get to the park early. Head to Goliath first. From there go to Scream then Colossus, Batman and Riddlers. From there I suppose Goldrusher, Superman, and Ninja, and then Deja Vu and Terminator. Then Tatsu, Revolution, X2, Viper. Good luck on your trip. I would try maybe a Monday, Tuesday or a Thursday if you want to know the best day to go to the park.

Why would they sell two of their profitable parks? Filing for Chapter 11 allows a corporation to restructure their debts in order to make them more managable. Shapiro is taking the right steps. He's inherited a total mess from the previous management, and this had to be done. Chapter 11 is nothing new, corporations have done it before and come out stronger. It has to do with strong leadership, which I believe SF has, as witnessed by the positive changes over the past few years. I'm not saying they would liquidate their parks. I'm saying what's the absolute worse that could possibly happen to their assets. Evidently, if chapter 11 were not to be a successful, and they still had to deal with debt and ultimately filed for chapter 7 they'd have to liquidate their assets, and that would include those two parks and the others. Chapter ll is nothing new; but I don't have a good impression of it at the moment. Certainly I expect Six Flags to emerge stronger, but I still have the impression of Circuit city who also filed for chapter 11, still had to fulfill some debt obligations (as determined by the bankruptcy court) and went out of business shortly after. Chapter 11 is a great alternative, but it does not guarantee that they'll get this debt off their backs. The same reality is a possibility, though minuscule for Six Flags. I never said that Six Flags is selling those two parks, or need to. I meant what's the worst that can happen as in, if they don't emerge strong...then that would probably be liquidating their assets, including those two parks. I agree with you in that I like the new management of Six Flags and wouldn't want them to fall out of the game. I want them to emerge stronger.

Not playing Devil's Advocate here, but what's the absolute worse thing that could happen to some of Six Flags' premiere parks like GA or MM? Sell the park to another theme park operator? That theme park operator make radical changes to the parks? I wouldn't like the latter. I am someone afraid for my home park though. I didn't like when they were on the brink of selling it to some real estate developers, etc in 2006. Overall, this article makes me feel uneasy and apprehensive at the end of the day though. Eh, but I sure hope Six Flags emerges strong. I like them to continue to manage most of the parks under their belt. I like the direction they've taken for parks like MM, but they need to change along with unloading this debt.
-
I agree. I don't understand why you'd remove it. Just leave it. Even though it is a boring ride, the park would look extremely weird with it gone. Besides ...I've grown accustomed to the obnoxious sound of the train heading back down toward the station. I look forward to hearing it when I'm on that end of the park. To further elaborate on your point, I think it would be really cool if they reinstated the use of the second track (as well as improved the ride to perhaps go at 100 MPH again)....like a race. From my last experiences, Superman does pick up some attention, a crowd, so I don't think employing the second track would be a significant waste of resources.

What is your local park?
GivenOneChance replied to robbalvey's topic in Theme Parks, Roller Coasters, & Donkeys!
Southern California for me. Six Flags Magic Mountain for me. About 30 minutes away pending traffic.
