  1. I know that it's impossible to determine an exact release date for a WiiWare game, but it would be nice to know how the game is coming along and what stage in development it's currently at. For the past month at least, there hasn't been a single game released that is worth downloading IMO. A Boy and His Blob is one of mine and many others' most anticipated releases. What do you think we're looking at? This summer? Fall? Next year?
  2. reminds me of the "rollcage" cars that were used in the Coney Island Ghost Hole back when it was at Trimper's in Ocean City where it was known as Geister Hohle. I managed to find the only information about it that exists on the internet from the Trimper's Haunted House fansite: Geister Hohle *edit - For all those dark ride historians, there is a link from the Haunted House site to this excellent site, The Bill Tracy Project which chronicles Tracy's career as well as provides a database for every single one of his projects. An essential visit for anyone who appreciates his work.
  3. Also, don't forget that SFA couldn't be in a worse location. There has been a good amount of crime-related incidents at the park throughout the years which drives many people away. Not to mention the ridiculous amount of line jumping that occurs in front of closed eyes. I'd be afraid to be part of their security team. I'm not one to judge people from DC but location seems to be the park's biggest problem. Personally, it's the only park i wouldn't take my family to. I even know someone whose car got broken into in the parking lot and i hear it happens very often there. It's not worth the risk for Ride of Steel. Hell, i can't even think of any other attractions that i enjoy there.
  4. I can see attractions like The Flying Dutchman and all those fantasy-themed dark rides getting a lot of attention from American park-goers who were previously only accustomed to attractions of this type from Disney, Universal, & Busch parks. With that being said, i think it would be a good idea for them to buy a park that isn't too close to any of said parks. PA would be a great place for an American version of Efteling. I think they should buy a botanical gardens such as one like Longwood Gardens in Kennett Square which is right outside of West Chester. These gardens would be the absolute perfect place for a European-style park.
  5. Can't wait to see which Kennywood attractions show up in the film. *edit: Didn't realize there were already threads about this. BUT this thread is about who is going to see it on Friday so.. kinda different i guess. trailer:
  6. Don't bother with the new Decemberists album, especially if you're looking for stuff of the same quality as the songs from The Crane Wife.
  7. I'm new on here and I realize starting a thread like this is potential suicide, but I just need to know where the enthusiast scene stands on this subject.. Has anyone here ever lit one up before going into a park? I mean, of course the parking lot isn't the best idea but I know from experience that if planned properly, you can be high in two different ways on a coaster. If you haven't ever done this or ever plan on doing it please don't flame or ban me! I know that some people like to get on rides when they are buzzin' from alcohol which is a much worse drug to be on while you're on a ride, so please don't pass harsh judgment if you are against it. I can imagine that for people who get anxiety it could be a really bad idea, but for people who get the adverse effect, rides can be more fun than you've ever imagined. So, am I the only enthusiast who does this? I know that high school and college kids probably do it all the time, but i can imagine they are doing it for a different reason. I just want to experience my favorite rides from a different perspective. Is there anything wrong with this? I mean other than the illegality of smoking? BTW, it isn't illegal to be high in public, it's just illegal to consume it or possess it. So you are not breaking the law while you are in the park if you do this. please no ban!!
  8. Better get to Trimper's soon if you've never done the walkthroughs/ridden through The Haunted House. Granville Trimper died in October and this season may very well be the last. I've heard some say The Haunted House will probably stay where its at if Trimper's goes which doesn't make sense to me because if the property is bought to build a hotel or something i would assume they would take out all the buildings on the 3 acres as well. I can't even imagine OC without the park. My obsession with walkthroughs spawned from my childhood days of traversing the narrow passageways of Pirates Cove and getting yelled at for messing around on the spinning barrel in Aladdin's Lamp. Almost everything good at Trimper's has remained untouched since i was a kid and now it might all disappear at once. I'm going to try and visit at least twice this year.
  9. doesn't seem too shabby. definitely lacking in thrill rides though. also, in response to the American Adventure; has anyone noticed the decapitated zebra on the ground?? WTF???
  10. The Great White @ Morey's Piers an underrated coaster in an overrated beach resort. i will admit though, i do like me some Morey's. This is one of my favorite shots on the site: Just beautiful!
  11. When i heard that the new owner wasn't going to keep Nights in White Satin i couldn't believe it! I mean sure, the adult theme of the park may have had something to do with the failure, but all they'd have to do is call it Nights in White Satin instead of Nights in White Satin: The Trip and have the ride ops say enjoy your ride instead of enjoy your trip and the theme would be nothing more than a representation of psychedelic rock. Come to think of it, Led Zep and Moody Blues were the only hope the park had. I dunno, i don't think this season will be much better no matter how much advertising is used. Myrtle Beach killed the Pavilion and it is turning into nothing more than a place for those dreaded bike weeks. What happened to the Myrtle Beach i once knew? The family beach resort that seemed to have been meant for great seaside parks is nothing more than a party town for dirty bikers and riff-raff. It has been this way for years now and will probably never change back. Too bad Goodwin didn't consider how much the town has changed for the worse since the fall of the pavilion. I think it is safe to say that HRP is most epic FAIL in the history of modern theme parks, even as sad as it is. The new owners should prepare for another season of disappointment.
  12. Hey TPR! My name's Justin and i love this freaking site. I have been lurking here for years but never registered until now. I am also a theme park nerd of sorts, and have scaled the east coast's entire offering of parks countless times. I live in York, PA which is closest to Hersheypark and also only an 80 minute drive to Knoebels (World's greatest traditional park). And um yeah, Dorney's over there somewhere.. I am 21 and a student at the Art Institute of York, where i am shooting for an awesome degree in specialized technology. Whether or not it will land me with a job that will give me the opportunity to maybe go on one of your international trips is yet to be determined. Robb, when i read the news about the new A Boy & His Blob game and saw that it was being produced by Robb Alvey, my initial thought was that it had to be another dude, to which i shat brix when i found out that it really was you. Man, you are gonna make a fortune. Just look at how well World of Goo did. The game is really drawing a lot of hype and I know a lot of people who are in love with the NES original and are expecting your game to take WoG's place on the top of the Top 20 when it's released. You are an awesome dude by me mainly because you have my two dream jobs, but also because i can relate to the kid thing. I also have a 2 year old daughter and me and my girlfriend always run into problems with that if we can't find other people to go to parks with us. Every single rider line is a fast but lonely road.. but the excuse for riding kiddie rides makes it all worth it! Your trip reports are some of the best content on the internets. Watching your awesome lives in envy has become something i look forward to every time the photos from a recent event are posted. It's been kind of similar to watching a good tv series. There are constant scene changes, the characters grow on you the more you watch.. But talk about envy! I mean how the hell did you people get so lucky! I'll be surprised if i'll ever get the money or time to go to asia or europe to experience their awesome parks before retirement or something. Guess i'll have to settle with traditional parks and six flags for now.. BTW, i hate the six flags corporation with a passion. I've yet to have a good day at one, and unless the ones on the other side of country are better you won't find me looking forward to visiting one. Cedar Fair, Kennywood parks and Busch parks are decent "chains" by me i. I prefer smaller family owned parks like Knoebels, Waldameer, etc. but i am also a big fan of the dying seaside parks and amusement piers. Well, i hope i am welcome here in this ultimate dream world of theme park nerdery and i hope to share my experiences and thoughts with all of you soon!
