Erik & Misty's Smoky Mountain Adventures
sclisso replied to Electerik's topic in Photo Trip Report Archive
Haha, I did the same thing to the Angelina Jolie wax figure when I went there XD. -
Hmm that is an interesting idea.It would be more of a physics type project. I kinda wondered about something business like how a theme park business works or something. I'm majoring in accounting in college after I'm done with high school so I thought maybe something with business would be good since it would be going along with my intended major.

I didn't know whether to post this in the theme park forum or what but anyway... Next semester in school I have to complete a senior project, I don't know if other states do this or not but If you don't know what this is I'll explain. It's a large project for seniors in high school(obviously) where you must do a research paper on your topic and a product( a model) of something to go along with it. Then there are three judges who score your project. You must pass the senior project to graduate high school so it's a pretty big deal. I'm trying to get a head start and think of my topic.I want to do something on roller coasters and/or theme parks but I have no clue what I could possibly do. So anyone have any ideas for me? That would be greatly appreciated.

What Was The Last Coaster You Rode?

Soak'd at Freestyle Music Park. It was really fun! -
What is your next park?
sclisso replied to onewheeled999's topic in Theme Parks, Roller Coasters, & Donkeys!
Probably Carowinds for the 3rd time this summer =| .And The West Virginia State Fair if that counts, lol. -
I would Recommend all the Ripley's Attractions, they are all really great. Out of all of the Ripley's attractions, I would say the aquarium, Believe it or not, moving theater and the mini golf courses are the best. Wonderworks in Sevierville is great also. As far as Mini Golf, Professor Hackers Mini Golf is one of the greatest mini golf attractions next to the two Ripley's mini golf courses. Oh and If you're thinking about getting breakfast one morning, I highly, highly recommend Duff's Smorgasbord . It doesn't look that great from the outside but the breakfast buffet there is to die for. The staff/waiters are super friendly and It has just a great atmosphere. Plus it's close to the road you turn on to go to Dollywood so it's convenient for someone who plans to grab breakfast and go straight to Dollywood. You should definitely try it.

So was it really Elissa? haha.

Best Re-ride Roller Coasters
sclisso replied to AviatorCoaster's topic in Theme Parks, Roller Coasters, & Donkeys!
Afterburn, Carolina Cobra and Vortex at Carowinds. Tennessee Tornado, Thunderhead and Mystery Mine at Dollywood. -
Hmm...Vortex at Carowinds is rough in some spots. Especially that Corkscrew, that is really bad. That's the only rough B&M I've been on.

By extreme angle i didn't mean the drop itself, I meant the angle of the curve of the drop. I said the pre-drop had to do with easing stress not the drop itself.lol,I need to fix that last post to make it more clear.I murdered it,haha. But whatever, this is off topic, we're supposed to be talking about the brakes at the top, not the pre-drop and drop, lol.
-
Yeah, for the other coasters except Dive machines and Inverts and maybe stand-up. All B&M Inverted Coasters have pre-drops to reduce stress because of the extreme angle of the drops. They have curved drops or a curve before a drop, so to reduce the horizontal Stresses, before the train curves downward(the drop) there's a pre-drop. Now if an invert were to drop straight without any curve after the lift, I would say it wouldn't need a pre-drop unless its something B&M Inverts need for some reason.
-
The reason Behemoth doesn't have a pre drop is because after the lift, the train keeps going straight as opposed to the B&M inverts that typically cut back in a curve in the opposite direction thus, the pre-drop is needed to relieve stress on the chain.
-
Major parks like what? I don't know much about other parks outside the US besides Alton Towers, lol. You told other people who asked about other 2010 trips some parks that it might would include.
-
Which parks would the UK trip consist of if there were a trip there in 2010?
-
They're also on Apollo's Chariot on the little flat area before th drop if you watch a video of it. I think Coolhandluke may be right. It could be use to regulate the speed at the top to reduce wear.
-
Yeah, I know what you mean by the pre-drop. I'm talking about on like Alpengeist, for example, if you look at a video of Alpengeist going up the lift and once you're at the top there's the pre-drop and something hanging down from the track. I assumed they were brakes. You can even hear a sound when going down that sounds like brakes. Here's a video http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=QdFXFhsfSnU At seven seconds into the video pause and look at the track. Then play and listen for the sound. And i might've made a mistake, I'm not sure these brakes are on all B&M inverts.
-
I've been wondering what the brakes after the lifts on B&M Inverts(and some other B&M coasters like Apollo's Chariot) are for? I thought maybe it was to relieve tension on the lift chain.

Isn't that thread more of,"hey heres the new colors say something about them!" While this one is " What's your opinion on the new colors?"
-
What do you think about Nighthawk's new colors at Carowinds? I know some people are complaining cause the colors don't fit the name although the sign is yellow and blue.

Ever had a black out on a coaster?
sclisso replied to Dark Vampire's topic in Theme Parks, Roller Coasters, & Donkeys!
I almost blacked out on Tennessee Tornado in Dollywood, it did my mother the same way too. It was when you go into the second loop. I believe it was because you went into the big loop where your blood went toward your head then back to your feet when you get slung around the over banked turn then the next loop makes it rush back to your head then back to your feet and to your head again with the transition from the second loop into the sidewinder causing you to feel like your about to black out.Wow that was a long sentence. Thats what i figured it was anyway, lol -
what the heck? As soon as i posted mine showed up,lol.
-
yes, any TPR moderators know anything for us to do to get it to come up?
-
Yeah, i don't see the word "posting" either, i have the same problem.

So would the SC on the label on the yellow track be for Standup coaster?
