  1. Working for the county I even get Washington/Lincoln's and Presidents day as seperate holidays off. You may start your envious rants now...
  2. I guess I've been lucky the times I've gone during this time of the year because I've lucked out with minimal crowds. But keep your fingers crossed for me to keep my lucky streak alive. Also I'm looking forward to those yummy BBQ ribbs and roasted chicken... Can't wait for that neither!
  3. Thanks budd, yea I'm really looking forward to riding Xcelerator. It's a Tuesday so it should be crowded at all. I'm lucky I work for the county because we get Cesar Chavez day off. God bless that man!
  4. Ninja... It's still a very enjoyable ride at SFMM. People kinda brush it off due to it's lack of height or speed but I honestly enjoy it very much. Especially when you ride it in the dark and those trees become great head (and arm) choppers! HIIIYAAAA!!!!!!!!
  5. I'm heading to Knott's tomorrow with some of my cousins and I'll try to find that elusive 10th coasters
  6. Again my friend it seems like I'm a "partypooper" but if you're really read what I wrote you can see that I never said "if you drink you're evil and you're going hell." I said that god doesn't intend for us to get drunk, and the only way to get drunk is to drink the stuff. So as you can see I'm using "better safe than sorry" approach. I think you can clearly see that.
  7. If I did not come across clear the first time, I sincerely apologize. I'll be more than happy to clarify it again. The Bible says that alcohol is something, as a christian, that we should stay away from. The reason being that it MIGHT lead into to a negative consequence(s). (illness, drunkenness, disease, altering in judgment, ALCOHOLISM...) The point I was trying to make all along is explaining why I do not choose to drink. Again you can disagree with me completely and that's not a problem to me. Once again I'm just trying to make discussions about topics in life but showing you guys a Biblical point of view.
  8. I'm trying, for the sake of everyone, not to talk to religiously about it. Please, please remember that I'm only stating what the Bible says and why I believe it. I'm not to change anyone's mind because that's up to the individual to decide for their own.
  9. That's a combination of all those in a lifetime which could easily affect you faster than alcohol alone. That study doesn't discriminate for people who drink and/or smoke I believe as well.
  10. Needless to say I don't understand the logic here. Please remember the I choose to COMPLETELY avoid alcohol. That does not mean one glass of wine (which I know is healthy) it bad or makes you a sinner. If you read those Bible verses I put up they talked about "drunkenness." That obviously mean going beyond your limit.
  11. ^^ Well here's a link showing that alcohol is linked to 75,000 U.S deaths a year. http://www.msnbc.msn.com/id/6089353/ Can you prove to me any of those one things you listed can top the death rate of Alcohol in a year?
  12. ^ Remember my friend I'm only bringing a biblical point of view. I'm using the Bible as my reference and it says to stay away from it because of some consequences that might arrive. He just wants to save you from any doctor bills that might arrive down the road. Remember I'm not trying to convert you I just trying to explain my belief as a Christian. As always everyone's comments are welcomed!
  13. Cool, do you live in a bubble because the entire earth is filled with stuff that could lead to illness. Well thank God for soap, lysol and medicine! But just because alcohol may or may not make you sick, then I guess cigarettes are just as bad. Even if it takes a bit longer for the effects to be seen, that doesn't make them any less harmful to your health. What about sugar? High fructose corn syrup? Fatty meat? Cheese? Processed foods? Do you not eat any of these things? Again alcohol is obviously more harmful that all those things you listed there... hence you don't see any kids drinking alcohol with their happy meals. Please keep the comments coming I really appreciate them, they keep me on my toes.
  14. I agree that wine has in healthy advantages which has been medically proven. The point I was making is that alcohol might eventually lead to liver damage or other conditions that are not fun to have later on in life. I know I can attest to that because I had an uncle that almost died for just drinking a couple of beers every 3-4 days. He was only 49 but he was not a binge drinker. Again my point is that it might lead to something along the road but why risk that chance. But like I said I'm just pointing out what a biblical point of view just in case you have friends that abstain from drinking. That's all.
  15. ^^ Welcome to the thread and I appreciate your question. As for the answer, 'Yes', when the Bible uses the word drunk it mean "drunkenness." It's never God's will for anyone to start losing their five sense because of too many brewskys.
  16. Cool, do you live in a bubble because the entire earth is filled with stuff that could lead to illness. Well thank God for soap, lysol and medicine! 17. Just for the sake of keeping the thread neater would you guys mind posting the recipes on the "What Was the Last Beer You Drank?" Thanks guys, I wouldn't want the thread to be closed because of it going off topic.
  18. Alright guys just to show you guys how this thread is going to be like I will answer this first point and hopefully get a conversation started. Now again I must stress this is coming from a Biblical perspective and you can totally reject it at any time. Well just to give you guys a little history about myself I did grow up in the church but boy did I have my issues (and still have) in my life. Concerning alcohol, I actually have never had a drink in my life. I'm 23 now so there have been numerous opportunities to drink but I have never pursued them. Now 'Wes" brought up an EXCELLENT point. From his statement I can conclude that he probably drinks and does it RESPONSIBLY. (Please correct me if I'm wrong by the way) I think this actually applies to the majority of you and I truly respect that and I think everyone on the roads do as well. I know that many people enjoy drinking because it's truly enjoyable with the taste it brings or it being able to relax you in a way. Now of course if you over do it you obviously could fall into alcoholism which leads to many negative roads which God never intended us to go through. One important thing about alcohol is that in the long run it does damage your liver through time. Even though it does take a long time for it to do any serious harm, the threat is always there. Now in the Bible it mentions our bodies are the "Temple of God" (1 Cor. 6:19-29) so being so we need to keep it clean and out of harms way. So here's where my faith as a Christian comes in. If I know alcohol, in the long run, MIGHT lead to a disease or illness then I must stay away from it... I hope that makes sense. Another way to think about it is you bought yourself a brand new spanking car. You're car is spotless but one thing you love to do is to get fast food and sometimes eat in your car. Eventually some soda and ketchup stains start appearing in your car whenever you eat the food in your car. Now the stains won't affect your motor or transmission of the car but who would want a sweet car with a messy interior? I hope you guys understood my example and as you can see now you have an idea why I don't drink or have the need to do it. I didn't want to clog up the post by writing wordy Bible verses but here are some if you guys would ever want to check them out yourselves. (Proverbs 20:1) - Wine is a mocker, strong drink is raging. (1 Peter 4:3-4 )- The past life of drunkenness and carousing has no place in the Christian’s life. (Ephesians 5:18) - In contrast to being drunk with wine, the believer is to be filled with the Spirit. A list of 75 verses can be found here (http://www.scionofzion.com/drinking.htm) I'll post another topic after this one has been discussed a bit.
  19. Keep the comments coming guys, everyone is welcome to post a response no matter how short or long it is. Remember this topic is NOT about "You're wrong and I'm right", this topic is and should be "Oh I didn't know you (myself) didn't do that because..." I hope that clears up some doubts.
  20. Yes please no need to offend when voicing your opinions. I want to make it as comfortable as possible. It's great when you can use your mind and heart into putting what you feel inside of you into words. Thanks again for giving this thread a chance.
  21. Hey everyone my name is Josh and I wanted to open this thread to show what the Bible says about so many things pertaining to our daily life. I have many friends that tell me "Man you're no fun because you don't do this, or you don't do that." Well I guess it's time to explain why people like myself seem we're life's “party poopers” and give you a peek to why we might seem like that. By the way some of you might see some things here that you might not think are wrong but I will try to do my best to use the Bible as reasons why some things should and shouldn't be done. Please feel free to voice your opinions, questions and concerns. Please feel free to challenge anything you read hear at anytime. (Just be nice about it) And please keep in mind I want to do this for others to voice their opinion on anything you read here. Also please remember I’m not here to disrespect anyone or to convert anyone into my faith. People have the freedom of choice to do what they want and I totally respect that. I just think people would like to discuss topics and voice out their own point of view. The only thing I'm trying to do here is to answers all those questions that have been asked through time but in a biblical perspective.... That's all!!! You don't have to agree with anything that I write here but (but I would like to hear why) I think this will give a chance for others to open up in this thread with all the great people we have in TPR. Now to start off with a bang, let's start up with a DOOZY!!! Now this one always comes up when I go eat with co-workers or attend family parties. If you haven't guessed it yet, yup it's............ ALCOHOL, booze, the "hard stuff!" Now before everyone kills me just let me clarify one thing… I'm not saying whoever drinks is "evil or of the devil." I just want to explain why Alcohol should be something you should stay away from in life because of what it can do to your life if you're not careful. Yes I know Jesus made wine for that wedding in Canaan, but I'll get to that in a minute. First I would like to hear your thoughts on why Alcohol isn't a big deal and why you guys think Alcohol should be enjoyed by everyone when they want too. I will post my answer after a few responses. P.S. I know am going against the norm with this topic but I think it would be great to see the other side of the coin when you know people that stay away from certain things due to their faith. There's always a reason behind it and I will be more than happy to show you that other side. Have fun and enjoy!
  22. Well at least your liver would have thanked you if the bar wasn't there. *Hehe* By the way that wine Jesus made was unfermented, so if that bar had unfermented drinks then I would say "bottoms up!"
  23. That's a very awesome experience to hear buddy. I'm glad you were able to help that young lady with her problems she was facing. And I'm glad God used that young lady for you to stay away from that bar... God works in mysterious ways!
  24. Big Mike again thanks for being the great guy you are. It was great being with you at WCB and I'm counting down the days until the we meet again. By the way Shawn you did a good job with the pic. The sun did not want to cooperate but you did your best... I think It was sweet getting lucky twice by winning a Big Mike prize and by signing off your shirt for your stay in CA. By the way, it's great knowing I have a friend that's almost twice my height just in case any trouble that brews up Keep doing what you do and don't ever change for anyone buddy. Peace out bro!!!
  25. Hey guys nice to hear new people in this conversation, welcome and I hope to hear more of you guys in the future. I have read the verse about the shellfish, pork and homosexuality in the old testament. Yes all that was referring to those the things they should not do in those time. Now when Jesus talked in the New testament he did do away with most of the stuff you mention. Concerning the pork and shellfish was consider "dirty" in those old times but when Jesus came he address that issue so I can enjoy all the bacon, a shellfish I want in Port o' Call in San Pedro, CA "For out of the heart proceed evil thoughts, murders, adulteries, fornications, thefts, false witness, blasphemies: These are the things which defile a man: but to eat with unwashed hands defiles not a man." (Matthew 15:19-20) As you can see Jesus corrected their wrong way of interpreting his word (law) and explained that what a person eats or consume does not make him unclean but what his actions and words do. And as for the coming of Jesus being proclaimed for 2000 years already here's a verse to help you understand why he has not come yet and why he's coming at any moment: "Know this first of all, that in the last days mockers will come with {their} mocking, following after their own lusts, and saying, "Where is the promise of His coming? For {ever} since the fathers fell asleep, all continues just as it was from the beginning of creation." For when they maintain this, it escapes their notice that by the word of God {the} heavens existed long ago and {the} earth was formed out of water and by water, through which the world at that time was destroyed, being flooded with water. But by His word the present heavens and earth are being reserved for fire, kept for the day of judgment and destruction of ungodly men. But do not let this one {fact} escape your notice, beloved, that with the Lord one day is like a thousand years, and a thousand years like one day. The Lord is not slow about His promise, as some count slowness, but is patient toward you, not wishing for any to perish but for all to come to repentance. (2 Peter 3:3-9) We are already past 2000 years so in God's eyes that is 2 days that have past. If you remember from the Bible Jesus arose from the dead on the 3rd day, so will he come back for us on the "3rd" day which we are now in. (2 days = 2000 years for the Lord) We have entered the 3rd day already so he return is near. As for my friend (smartestkidever) I'm deeply sorry for all the pain you have gone through. I really don't know how homosexuality works but one thing is for sure, I have had friends turned their life around for Christ and have been stopped from their homosexuality. They have told me that it was a inner desire within them that with time came to pass. I have faith that you turn your life for Christ he can save help you in that regard. And just to let you know I have warned my friends about divorce and many other sins that they might commit. Remember am not perfect but by following the word of God you at I least try to be as close as an example as Jesus was. And like I said before, I do love everyone and Bible teaches me to warn people about these things that God does not want in our lives. If you loved someone that was not helping themselves would you do anything possible (even going against the norm, putting my neck on the line, and being mock) to give you warning that needs to be heard.? I value and care about your life as well and I have to continue this message because I love you. Love has no boundaries and has no fear of failing. That's why I can honestly say I love you guys, and I mean it that buddy. Thank you again guys for hearing me out. This will be my last reply concerning this and I hope at least you can see where I come from. Again it comes down to what everyone believes in and I respect that completely. Again I'm sorry if I offended anyone but in my heart (which comes with vast amount of prayers and my personal relationship with God) has come all that I have posted. Please remember I would love to obtain each of your friendships and hope God leads us to where he wants us to be. Thanks again you guys for letting this topic get to this point. I look forward to talking to you guys about other subject in TPR (I think Coasters where the talk of the town once here) God bless you guys and I will see you guys aorund the site -Josh
