Six Flags Magic Mountain Terminator Salvation: The Ride
CreditCrazy replied to robbalvey's topic in Photo Trip Report Archive
So would it just be better to have the teens that line-cut and vandalize keep coming? If they're going to come to the park to do these things, then it'd be a lot better if they weren't there at all. From what I've seen, SFMM's security has been very strict (which is a good thing). A small example: On my visit to the park on May 3rd, I was in line for Yosemite Sam Sierra Falls and there was a mom, dad, and son a couple people ahead of me. The son had to go to the bathroom, so he left the line, and while coming back up the stairs to where the mom and dad were, he was stopped by a security guard while they talked to the parents...they were told to go to the end of the line, and that this a very serious thing, serious enough to get kicked out of the park. I don't know...this may be a bit too strict, I mean I'm sure tons of people (gp and enthusiasts) have done that before, but this strict-ness is really what could hopefully turn SFMM around. About people vandalizing things in Terminator's pre-shows, what about an extra staff member in each room to keep an eye out? I don't know. It's really ridiculous that the park has to even worry about these things. -
^ I would also really like to see Scream get some grass or at least something to make it look nicer, but I don't think it will get an X2/Bizarro style revamp. I can't picture Six Flags revamping two rides at the same park, especially with everything SFMM already has. I think there's more things SF needs to work on at other parks rather than giving SFMM another revamp...and probably another coaster too.

This is horrible news...I'll be there in about 3 weeks and MF is the coaster I was looking forward to the most. -

Yeah, I get back the 23rd, but I can't let that stop me from Terminator ERT! -

I'm there, I need my tunnel-fix. -
The idea of an Intamin spinning coaster actually seems pretty realistic, because at WCB Park Management mentioned that they were working with Intamin right now. When they said that, I instantly started thinking of an Intamin rocket coaster running along Metro's layout (but with different track of course), even though that is pretty unrealistic. The only other Intamin ride I can think of SFMM getting soon is an Intamin drop tower...which I think would be great. As far as the rocket coaster idea goes for running along the Viper-Deja Vu area, I'm definitely up for it, but does SFMM even own that land over there?

Weirdest Things The 'GP' Have Said

Wow. I heard the same thing from some girls who were in line behind us for Goliath on Saturday night. They were saying that "this new Terminator is the same ride that was always there, just with theming." Yet people still don't make the connection that X2 is just an upgraded version of X. Also, at Knott's yesterday, this kid's dad was telling his kid that SFMM has "this same ride like this (pointing to Boomerang) called Riddler's Revenge." I don't see any way how those two can be compared. Probably because everyone thinks Riddler's Revenge is Deja Vu and Deja Vu can be compared to Boomerang. I think I've heard someone point to Riddler's or ask "which one" it is and someone will say Deja Vu. Then Deja Vu is just...decoration? -

For everyone that is wondering what ride to go to first at SFMM...I would definitely go with Terminator. The rides that I'd say get really bad are X2, Deja Vu, and now Terminator (Tatsu can seriously become a walk-on or 10 minutes in the evening). Going to Terminator first, you can ride that with little to no wait, and get Deja Vu outta the way early too. Also, even though Terminator is the "new" ride, I still think the gp will wander into the park and end up at something along the way, like X2, Tatsu, or even Viper and Revolution... . -
I got two rides on Friday, so I think it was off all day. But thanks for clearing that up, guys. Also, how crowded does the park usually get the last week of August and first week of September on a weekday? The park's official site says they're is open 10:30-6, so I don't think it'll be that crowded, but I'd like to get some input here, too. I would think right around that time (the end of summer) it'd be either really busy, everyone getting their last rides in, or empty, because everyone's already gotten their rides in and are back into "school mode". A lot of schools are already in at that time, too. I'd say you'd be fine, because I've gone in September before and it was actually a pretty good time to go (crowd and weather-wise).

Best region of U.S. coaster wise?
CreditCrazy replied to Josh Linn's topic in Theme Parks, Roller Coasters, & Donkeys!
The Northeast seems to be the best IMO. And for anyone that chooses the West Coast...it's basically just California, which does have some really good parks and coasters...but that's it. You have to go faaar away to get to the next "good" park. -

For everyone that went to SFMM and rode Terminator today: Were the lights and mist on in the tunnels? -

For me, it's because of my motion sickness...that pretzel loop completely throws me off and makes me want to puke while waiting on the brake run in an uncomfortable position looking at gum and dried up vomet. Sorry to anyone that is currently eating. -
Logos On Front Of Coaster Trains...

I prefer the coaster's name for the reasons stated above. Loch Ness Monster with the park's logo, and Kentucky Rumbler with the coaster's logo. Which looks better? -

I hate to break it to you, but today they switched to the right side - which I finally got my credit on! It doesn't really matter for me, I've had both sides for a while now. I wonder if the left side was having problems and that's why they switched..? -

Yes, 14 roller coasters, AND don't forget those two coasters in the two "kid themed areas", Percy's Railway and Canyon Blaster making it 16. -

No, I don't have an onride photo from Terminator. I only went in the "Terminator Shop" once and I didn't pay much attention to the "Photo booth" but I'm 99% sure it wasn't working or open yet (of course it wasn't, it was Media Day!). -

Aw you couldn't have been the kid in the green track sweatshirt, could you? I hope I get to see X2's station empty again. So...rare. Calicoasters, that fog was awesome. It was a lot more noticeable than I thought it would be. I got some of my best rides on X2 that night, especially front row. -

Goliath got stuck on the lift hill and had an evacuation earlier in the day. A lucky/good/wanted think for Coaster enthusiasts...the opposite for gp. But here it is, running again, being its usual awesome Goliath self. And there's Superman, being its usual boring self (it's running the left side and has been for a couple months now, so if you count Superman as two credits and need the rare left side, get out to SFMM now! Before it's too late...). Deja Vu didn't get much excitement yesterday. So moving onto something more exciting...Mmmmmmmmmm&mmmmmmmmmmm's. Who would have ever thought to see this? This...not as much...but still good! Onto the main event of the night: Terminator's sign (Day mode). Terminator's sign (Evening mode). Terminator's sign (NIGHT MODE!). Some of the vehicles came straight from the movie set! Hope no one drives it away. Theming! FIRE! Nooo...they're escaping! And coming right back into our trap! We're lost...anyone know where we're going? Nice little Sunday drive by (I mean fly by!). Can we do this every Sunday? I wish... ...The End. -
Terminator Review: It's an enjoyable, fun ride. Okay fine, a GREAT ride. The line: Oh man, this is going to suck in the summer. I can picture this line completely filling up. Luckily today, I never had to wait more than 10 minutes! But anyways, the pre-shows are cool. You go through the whole line and switchbacks, and then you come to a building with a...door. Once the group that was in the pre-show before you has moved on to the next one, they let you in. It's nice in there. The lights are cool, and there's T.V.s and little decorations everywhere. A nice break from the heat, too. The next couple pre-shows are pretty much the same (cool lights, decorations, etc.) and then you go up some stairs and end up at...the station. Since everyone is pretty much in the pre-shows or in the line right now, once you get into the station you will be on by the next train. (One small disappointment: assigned seating). The trains: They look good. The audio...box...thing in the back of the train looks kind of odd, but honestly, who's watching/looking at it (besides audio box thing stalkers)?? And I can't remember if this was done on Roar @ SFDK or not, but the lap bars automatically come on to you. I thought that was pretty neat. Operations: From what I saw, operations were very good. Only one ride I think I had to wait on the brake run. The rest, we pretty just came through the station, with my maybe just a second or two on the brake run. On one of my rides I think when we were coming into the station, the other train was already halfway up the lift! Very nice. THE RIDE (p.1): First, the pre-lift. Not really much. Short but still something. Then the lift, I couldn't really tell if it was faster than most, or what...with the blaring noises in my ears. The audio was definitely way too loud. And one quick note: The Goliath sign on the hill in back of Terminator is gone . When you get to the top of the lift, you hear something like "THEY ARE HERE!!!" and some gunshots. The "pre-drop" is okay. You pick up some nice speed which adds to the drop nicely, but you end up leaning into the person you sit next to because it isn't really banked. Now time for some real Terminator: Great drop. It's twisty and fun, and before you know it you're banking into a quick bunnyhop with probably the best air-time on the ride. Next you go under the exit stairs, and into the deadman's turn! I think it was placed perfectly, you don't fly through it, or crawl through it. It keeps the pacing good without roughness. Now exiting, some are scared for roughness, some are scared for extreme ejector air, and some are getting a quick look at Deja Vu to see if it's open and think "I hate SFGAm/SFoG ). Well, it wasn't rough, it didn't have extreme air-time (but still a nice amount!) and I don't know SFGAm/SFoG fanboys...it's been over a year now. So out of that little "bump" and you are now flying past a car that just got exploded (which is my favorite part of the ride) and into the tunnel where you hear "TAKE THE TUNNEL!!!". We didn't argue. The tunnel was fun, but I liked it much more with the lights and mist on when I rode in the afternoon. That was great. Out of the tunnel, into a few nice twists, and now for the the station fly-by. I think it really adds to the station, waiting in line/boarding/exiting and hearing it rush over you, but when you're on the ride you barely notice it. And if you did notice that you were going through the station fly-by, you didn't have much time to think about it, because you quickly went into the... THE RIDE (p.2) ...second tunnel! My favorite of the two. I like this one much more, because it's a bigger "surprise" and just adds to the "WTF is being thrown at me!?" thing going on inside your head. But also better when the lights and mist were on in the morning. The rest of the half is less exciting and not a lot to remember, but if you like a lot of turns and changes in direction then this will be perfect for you. It still seems like you're going as fast as you were at the bottom of the first drop, so again, GREAT pacing. Going up, and into the quick, oddly-banked turn that some thought would be rough...not at all. Turning into the brakehouse, still listening to the BLARING audio (c'mon, the ride is over, can't we have a break?) and back into the station, where you quickly get off and new riders quickly get on and get their ride on (er...escape) the Terminator. OVERALL RATING: 8/10. New #1 wooden coaster out of 9. I got 4 rides on Terminator. One in the afternoon and the other three during the KROQ event (including a nightride). Nightrides are GREAT and I highly recommend that if you're coming all the way to SFMM from Mars, and are going to wait for the ride, that you wait until nighttime! Definitely worth it. Also, the rows I rode in were 5th, 8th, 9th, and 10th. 5th was my favorite, surprisingly. My ride-count for the whole day: X2 x5 (X2 marathon with 3 rides in a row right before closing of the event! But I ended up waiting about 1 hour and 15 minutes for my first ride in the afternoon, with just a half filled line. Slow operations, a break down, and at one point, only one train was running). Viper x1 (rough again...what happened??). Tatsu x2 (one good ride, one bad. Tatsu is fun at night). Deja Vu x1 (ugh). Terminator Salvation: The Ride x4 (Credit #76 Credit #76 Credit #76 Omgomgomg). Jet Stream x2 (mini-marathon). Batman: The Ride x1 (had to get on this at least once today!). Goliath x3 (No one in the station during the KROQ event, we actually had to wait until more people came because they have to have at least 15 riders per train! Great front row ride!). Yosemite Sam Sierra Falls x1 (A lot of fun). Pictures: Hey guys! You goin' to SFMM to ride Terminator today? One of those hard, drive-by shots of X2. An overview...from the ground. Aaaggghhh! X2's gum support. I made Viper look foresty. Oh yeah. Hmm...is it...secretly foresty? X2's entrance/exit says yes. Those deadly orange OTSH's stand out horribly. Just like they are. Rapids Camp Crossing or Samurai Summit? Tatsu can "be what he wants to be!" just like Barbie Girl Corkscrew on a...Arrow? No. Vekoma? No. B&M? Yes. Uh...flyer? YES! I know a lot of people are going to disagree with this but: The worst part of the ride...ugh. Don't worry Batman, I won't forget your corkscrew. Or that Zero-G Roll. Or that 2nd vertical loop.

Six Flags Magic Mountain Terminator Salvation: The Ride

I enjoyed the ride. There was some nice air-time on the bunnyhop right after the first drop, and definitely some exiting the deadman's turn. The fire exploding out of the car (or truck? Jeep?) was cool, and so was flying into the second tunnel right after the station fly-by. I liked the theming around the pre-show rooms, but the pre-shows got old after a couple rides. It was cool waiting in line/boarding/exiting and hearing the train rush over you through the station. The ride is very smooth, and exciting (great pacing). I got 4 rides on it (rows 5, 8, 9, and 10) and I think row 5 was the best (can't wait to sometime try it in the front). My last ride on it at night was definitely the best with the bright fire and quick turns. Overall, a great ride. I'd give it an 8/10 and it is definitely my favorite woodie, beating Roar (SFDK).
