Kings Dominion (KD) Discussion Thread
rawrtotheargh replied to robbalvey's topic in Theme Parks, Roller Coasters, & Donkeys!
Does anyone else think its interesting that the lift only has two supports when its a 305 foot lift? They look massive. I personally have never seen such a design. Usually they just use a bunch of smaller ones. Should look really interesting. Can't wait to ride this thing. -
Well it seemed to be something that happened at all of the parks in Central Florida. I know that on Tatsu as well as all other rides at SFMM when a train leaves station the dispatch enable has to be let of and the re pushed in order to advance from Transfer to station. But on most if not all of the rides it seemed as though the train in transfer would come into station as soon as 3/4 of the departing train was out of station. On Manta specifically they would only do one side at a time. Tatsu is much better at multi tasking. But its also easier when the ops can communicate via PA system. Like "Clear One" and Clear Two". I really hope that made sense. I can just say that I was surprised at how slow dispatches were going. It made Tatsu look like it was turbo charged.

I would say that Scream! is comparable to most floorless coasters I have been on. I think most people give it a bad rap because of the lack of theme. As well as the bottom of the hill tends to rattle. But it is still a good solid ride in my books. I personally like it better than Riddlers. I guess when it all comes down to it we all have our opinions and it doesn't truly matter. Someone might believe that Revolution is one of the best coasters ever.

I also forgot to add that one observation was that though wait times were never more than 50 minutes. Dispatch times were in my opinion not very good at all. Sometimes it would be 4 minutes until a train would go into flight after restraints were checked. Tatsu definitely has better dispatch times. However I noticed that the way trains can occupy the station blocks was different than Tatsu. So that may be a factor.

I have finally had the pleasure to ride Manta and have finally come to my conclusion of which ride is better. Manta or Tatsu? Well to be honest I liked Tatsu better. However if you factor in the ambiance of Manta then Manta wins. Manta as a ride is tame. It is a good solid ride. The section after the block into main brake is the most exciting part in my opinion. The queue for Manta is breath taking. As well as the water splash effect and the waterfall fly by. I think just the tanks alone are enough to go visit the ride area. And I honestly sat there for an hour watching trains cycle by the slash. It is a very beautiful ride. Very graceful. I think it is an AMAZING addition to the Sea World Orlando park.

I am supposed to go out to Orlando in a couple weeks. So i'll be able to post a S:UF and Tatsu comparison. Personally I think it looks up to par with Tatsu. I am so excited to ride on it. For anyone who lives in the local area. Any info on what lines have been like during the weekend or Fridays would be greatly appreciated. I want to make sure I can fit everything in.

Today (July 30th) Terminator was running 2 trains. It seems as though people have been talking about one train op the past couple weeks. Lines weren't too bad at all. Deja was maybe 1:45 hours. X2 about 1. Terminator was running better than ever and only had a 30 minute wait time. There seem to be more ads then ever. The jumbotron in X2's station is now playing ads for that new GI Joe movie as well as the original X2 video. And the only ride down today was Thrill Shot. Just in case anyone was wondering how weekdays have been.

At first I kept listening for take the tunnel on the dead mans turn. But then realized that its during the fly through. And since then now I can hear it. But it took me until like ride 5. But the audio is definitely too low. I haven't ridden it in a couple weeks though. It may be a little louder now.

Thanks for an amazing event TPR as well as SFMM. You two always come together and make the most amazing events. Amazing doesn't even begin to describe it. And Terminator is definitely better at night. I wasn't really a fan after riding it 4 different times during the day. But one night ride and I fell in love. Thanks to everyone who help put this event together. -

Splashin Safari Malfunction!

^ I was thinking the same exact thing. Personally I think it makes them look better. When they just say the regular one in a million thing it seems like they are simply making it all up and they don't really know what the problem is for sure. -
