Hersheypark (HP) Discussion Thread

Sorry to jump in with a random question, but how crowded is the park on Sundays in the summer? I live about 2 hours away and I haven't been in 10 years, but the only day I can really go is Sundays. Is it totally brutal? Thanks!! -

It will be VERY crowded. Fright Fest weekends are always bad, and the one closest to Halloween the worst. Waits will be 2-3 hours plus. You'll definitely need a Gold flashpass, and buy one ahead of time online because they'll sell out. Get there as early as possible. It's only open Friday (the 30th) from 5-11 and probably 10-10 on Saturday and Sunday. Sunday is the last day for the season as well. Also they usually don't let you re-enter the park after a certain time (6 PM or something) so make sure you bring everything you need with you! Have fun laughing at everyone standing in line while you breeze by with your flashpass

Definitely go! September is one of the best times to go, crowds are generally really light. It might randomly be crowded but shouldn't be anything like it is in the summer or during Fright Fest.

Going to Six Flags GAdv for the first time
Jinx replied to JayB18's topic in Theme Parks, Roller Coasters, & Donkeys!
This is not exactly true. Yesterday, there was rain for about a half hour, no thunder or lightning, and they had almost the entire park on stand still. I was in El Toro's Station during the rain, and the Manager said that the only ride that was not on stand still was Bizzaro. El Toro was shut down as soon as they saw the drops start to fall slowly. That's weird, maybe because thunderstorms were in the forecast? Anyway, that's why I said "usually", because you never know. -

If it's a nice day, it will probably be crowded. Not atrocious like 3 hour lines, but maybe an hour+. Scream Machine and Rolling Thunder are pretty brutal. KK can also get a pretty good rattle, especially in the back of the train. Some people don't seem to notice this though. Probably not, though El Toro and Nitro's lines move really fast (unless ET is running one train). If the weather is crappy though, the crowds will be much lighter. Everything usually runs in the rain except KK, as long as there's no thunder/lightning. If it wasn't terribly crowded and you were theree all day you could probably do it, it depends. Personally I'm not a fan of any of it, but a lot of people like Best of the West which is over the bridge behind the log flume. It's all expensive. Get there early enough to be at the "rope drop". Superman gets a really long line pretty quickly. Bizarro/Medusa will also get a long line now. Lines also get very short towards closing as people start leaving. -

^^ That's for sure!!!! I don't even want to begin to imagine the lawsuits that would stem from the clown beating children train ride if it existed in the US. -
New Amusement Park Movie: "Adventureland"
Jinx replied to Not For Sale's topic in Theme Parks, Roller Coasters, & Donkeys!
It was exactly that...I was expecting it to be more of comedy too. It got great reviews from what I saw, but I didn't think it was that good. I thought Kristen Stewart was really good though, very unlike Twilight I wanted to smack her the whole movie. -
There's a Medusa at SFDK yes? The one at GAdv won't be open anyway since it's getting its redo. Superman usually has the longest line and I've never been on Tatsu but I'm sure its much better than Superman. I don't know that the Boy Scouts will make it crowded enough to warrant a flash pass...I would gauge the lines before spending all that money on one, but if it is crowded it's a good idea. KK has been pretty reliable, but if it's raining it won't be open. I think El Toro is reason enough to make the trip, not KK, but that's just my opinion!

Spring break for NJ schools is the week after Easter, so that's why it's open that week. If it's nice out, there could possibly be a decent amount of people there, but nothing scary. Water rides won't be open, random flats might be closed...I've only seen them run one train on the rides that only have 2 (El Toro, SUF) and one is broken. Even if it's dead they usually run 2. But you never know.

You're going from King's Dominion to Philadelphia and then the next day says "Day in Washington"...Washington is in between Richmond and Philly so you would want to do KD, Washington, Philly. I also don't know about Dorney, it's not horrible, but nothing too special. It's also out of your way if you're coming back to GAdv and you can do the whole park in half a day easily. Also it says 449 miles after GAdv..not sure what distance you're referring to but Dorney is only 100 or so miles from GAdv and GAdv is about an hour from NYC. Also, if you're going to Disney you should really do all the parks. Studios and AK don't really require a whole day, MK typically does and I personally could spend 3 days in Epcot! I haven't been to California in forever so I don't know if both parks there are doable in one day.

^The one in Mt. Laurel has been open since November I think..it's a lot smaller than this one. Wow, I just passed this place today and was wondering when it was going to open! From the outside it doesn't look ready at all...tons of dirt everywhere. Looks like fun. -

I kind of feel like the blue is a primer or something? It looks kind of rustic...for lack of a better word. Lol. -
Could these be the final days of Six Flags?
Jinx replied to winningfreak's topic in Theme Parks, Roller Coasters, & Donkeys!
If they were to file a bankruptcy, the lawsuit would just be thrown in with any other creditor. If it was Chapter 11 I would guess they would somehow be paid through the reorganization, in Chapter 7 all the money from selling off the parks would be dispersed among the creditors including that family. -

I doubt a debt of that nature would be discharged in a bankruptcy. It might slow down the proceedings of that case even more though while the bankruptcy gets sorted out. ETA: Also it would be Chapter 7 or 11...11 is reorganization, 7 is selling everything off. -

Park closed early at 6:30 on Sunday too. It started thundering around quarter to 6 or so, so I guess they just decided to get everyone out then.
