  1. Thanks for all the information, guys. I have always wondered about the technology behind this great ride!
  2. I was lucky to ride Moonsault Scramble in the late 80's. It wasn't really rough. However, the g-forces WERE extremely high. I greyed out and really almost blacked out. I remember almost passing out and falling to the ground as I was getting off, but I definitely did enjoy it !
  3. Here's the latest track piece going up on the Overbanked Horseshoe. Looks great!!!
  4. Thunderbird's next support is up and awaiting track!
  5. Paula I LOVE your sense of humor!!!
  6. Agreed, Chuck! It seems like the wheels are not even in constant contact with the rails. I have heard that Zamperla is going to look into the problem over the off-season. We can only hope. That layout could be awesome !
  7. My favorite is Meteor at Dorney Park. 100% F-U-N!!!
  8. Seeing Holiday World on Google Street View is very cool! I strolled around the whole Park! And look what we have this morning- the remaining track has been placed completing the loop!!!
  9. Here goes another piece of track for the loop!
  10. Hypothermia indeed! Luckily we were staying across the street at Santa's Lodge so we could take a hot shower and change!
  11. I'm very excited for "Track to the Future"!!! Let's hope the weather is warm. I remember the "Mammoth" year as well- it was FREEZING that morning riding and getting wet!
  12. I remember going to Puritas Springs in 1979 or 1980 to see the remains of the Cyclone. The tracks were much more intact back then. I climbed down the ravine and took photos of the drops, looking up the hills. It surely was an an amazing coaster! I'll have to look for those photos...
  13. I have to say that on my visit to Great America this Summer, Vortex was just plain AWFUL. Talk about head banging!
  14. Thanks, Robb! Those photos and videos are amazing!!!
  15. Yes, I am always amazed at how these huge pieces line up!
  16. Two different coasters come to mind, both in their last year of operation: The Wildcat at Bertrand Island, and the Thunderbolt at Coney Island- their track was in such a deplorable state, and both times I wondered if I would actually make it back to the station. In particular, the Wildcat was so overgrown with vegetation that we were constantly being hit with branches!
  17. I am really looking forward to tomorrow morning! I had to leave the webcam, and missed the lifting of the last pierce of track (that I was waiting patiently for all afternoon!). Paula, I hope the weather hold out for you guys tomorrow. This is SO exciting!!!
  18. They are working on the remaining support for the Immelman. This is the biggest one.
  19. They are working again. Looks like they are getting a support situated to be lifted.
  20. No, the crew didn't work over the weekend. It's raining there right now, so not much action going on...
  21. Isn't the reason that Wodan is so much faster now that they replaced the urethane wheels with steel ones? That would make perfect sense, since the urethane wheels bleed off so much speed over the layout.
  22. I was quite surprised with how much airtime Gold Striker has. My butt was off the seat so many times throughout the layout. I especially like the fact that I can hook my feet under the brackets on the Millennium Flyer trains and not hold on at all, giving me the perfect riding position to float above the seat. Everyone should try this method- it's really great!
  23. I too rode Mean Streak the year it opened, after it had broken in. I enjoyed it very much. With every subsequent visit it got worse and worse...
