Lake Compounce Discussion Thread
sros1fan replied to robbalvey's topic in Theme Parks, Roller Coasters, & Donkeys!
I havent used it yet but i have talked to people who have and basically you buy credits and each ride is so many credits but the credits per ride can change depending on how busy the park is, For instance if you went on a slower day the price for Boulderdash could be 1 credit and on busy days 3 credits. Here is how it works. -

I stopped at Knoebels last night on the way home from Coaster Con and managed to get some pics of the construction. They have installed alot of track so far and it is starting to look like a coaster.Enjoy! They have the track installed on the 3rd floor closer shot You can see in this pic where its going to make the drop down floors more track in piles This section must be where you load and unload the train -

I was on the first train out and i sat in the last row. The ride is so smooth and quiet. I didnt feel any air time but thats not what it was built for. I like the way it goes out of the station and right into the launch. The holding brake at the top of the hill doesnt hold it as long as it looks when your watching it. It is a really short ride though only about a min long. All in all think it is a perfect fit for KW. -

Im at coaster con and it is suppose to open on the 25th but they announced that it might be part of ert before we leave on wednesday. I also watched it testing and i can say it has to be one of the quietest coasters i have heard. The launch was fast quiet and smooth. I hope they have it ready for atleast one ride. -

I like how it says will open to the GP on the 25th so that means it could be open for us on the 23rd for ERT!!! -

Yes I do have a way of knowing that for sure, and it WILL NOT be open for Coaster Con. While they have sent the train around a handful of times, there's still a lot of adjustments that need to be done before the coaster opens to the public. But I do just love how you think that you know all that needs to be done to a coaster before it can open to the public. It's a lot more than just tweaking the launch programming and adjusting the trim breaks. Also, you fail to realize that the queue line isn't even done nor is any of the exit ramp other than the footers, and the two staircases for the station and brake run still need to be installed as well. If you think all this done is going to be done before Sunday, you're crazy. And if you think Kennywood is going to open the ride earlier when all this stuff (especially testing) isn't done just so a bunch of coaster enthusiasts can ride it, you're even crazier. Kennywood is all about safety and if you really think they're going to only do less than two weeks of testing just so ACE can ride, you're going to be very disappointed come June 20th. And how long do you think it takes to install a couple prefabricated staircases and a Que? I would say 3days and i have been in the business for 25yrs. As far as the testing goes unless you live in the park how do you know they havent been running it at night? Coaster con runs at Kennywood until the 23rd and they could have the ride open if they have everything scheduled right. -

I agree, wildcat is one of the most overlooked coasters at CP and i think its actually one of the better rides at the park. I just wish it didnt always have a huge line. -

Look at the pics of Maverick how many people have the arms up? Also look at their faces it doesnt look as if anyone is enjoying the ride, just bracing themselves. How can you enjoy that ride with those POS OTSRs on them? IMO it is the most overrated coaster at the point! I will be there on the 23rd and 24th and i could care less if i ride it or not. I rode it 2 times the year it open and my shoulders were so bruised from the restraints. My favorite coasters at the point are Raptor, TTD and Wildcat! -

IMO this is still all a rumor until someone posts pics of the actual trims! I cant believe that a pic hasnt been posted yet, is it because no one can afford a camera in Virginia or atleast a cell with one? -

I went to the Lakes 165th season opening day and was greeted by sunshine and light crowds. The park looked great as they did alot of park maintenance over the off season. There was no lines at all so lots of rides to be had. I was only at the park for a few hours but rode just about everything. Here is some pics i took, enjoy! There is more of an update here

^^There is no way it took 2mins for them to notice as im sure the rides computer shut the ride down as soon as the car didnt pass by the next sensor. I also think the park was prepaired and trained for an emrgency situation very well. I remember when Lake Compounces Zoomerang coaster got stuck in the cobra roll and it took over 2hrs to get the passengers out.
