  1. I went to LC for opening day as the rain stopped a couple of hours befoe it opened and was overcast and muggy. The crowd was light and everything was open except the train, which was closed due to the construction of the new slide tower. I was on the first train out on boulderdash and was on the first inaugeral ride of their new wipeout which came from Kennywood. They did a really nice job refurbishing it and it ran really good. Wildcat had some off season retracking in some spots and was quite smooth compared to prior seasons. The park did a great job fixxing Thunder&Lightning in the off season as well as it ran great with both arms running. The new slushie works building came out very nice but wasnt opened while i was there. basically the whole park looked great.I took alot of pics so enjoy them! park entrance rides closed Thunder&Lightning Slush Works the philly steak&cheese place the new paint on sawmill plunge You can see lots more here
  2. Here is a video of the flame cannons testing taken with a cell so the quality isnt the best. You can also see lots of new pics here
  3. You can find any info you want on SFNE here
  4. Heres an update on whats been going on with the ride. They have finished painting the whole coaster and are now working on the queline and station. Both trains are now on the track and they have been testing them at night. The lighting on the theming looks great at night, new pics and there is a short video of the lights.
  5. Well if all you can say is go to Gradv for Eltoro and Nitro it isnt worth the long trip to take the chance they will be open. I was at Gradv on opening day and Nitro KK and Eltoro were all down. Eltoro did open at like 3pm that day but the line was huge for it and they only had 1 train op that day. Tonight at gradv was their coasters after dark event and Eltoro, KK and runaway mine train were closed. Atleast CP tries to get rides back up if they have problems. A couple of years ago when i went to CP for coaster mania MF was down all day but they managed to get it opened for our night time ERT. Last year at Coaster celebration at gradv they cancelled our night ERT for no reason, even though they said it was due to weather which it was a nice night.
  6. ^ According to the Golden Tickets it has been ranked #1 for the last 12 years. In my oppinion it does have the best rides but i rate parks by there over all charm. Here is my top 5 parks. 1. Kennywood 2.Knoebels 3. Dollywood 4. Holiday World 5. BGE
  7. It is no contest CP is the best park in the world hands down. Yes i visit both parks regularly, but the only reason i got to Gradv is for Eltoro. Gradv is a dumpy park with lots of empty spaces and lots of riff raff from philly,NY,and NJ, with lots of line cutting going on as security seem scared to do anything about it. There is no way you can compare the ops from both parks as CPs ops actually run when they are checking trains while gradv's ops seem like they hate being there. Gradv doesnt have one good flat in the park which is why the lines for the coasters are so long and with all the stacking going on they force you to shell out the cash for a FP. No im not a CP fanboy as neither park is even in my top 5 parks that i have been too and i have been to every park in the US. Here is a story that happened to me last year at CP. I got in line for TTD at 9:55 when the park closed at 10pm. The wind was blowing really hard and they could not launch any of the trains, so we waited with about 30 other guests for an hour to see if they would open the ride. Finally they announced that they would not open it but that the park would open Maverick for us to ride for an hour even though the park had closed an hour ago. Now that to me is what seperates CP from all other parks, which none of them would have done that.
  8. It looks like they will be testing the new train soon!
  9. There is alot more aerial shots of the park here
  10. ^^Yes the park is closed as it is thursday May21st, ACE will be invited also to the event. You can see the latest pics taken yesterday as lots more work is done.
  11. There was another update posted with lots more done on the ride here
  12. Those are the dumbest statements i have ever heard! First off i have been to evry SF park in the US and i would say that SFNE is by far the best looking one i have been too. SROS is closed because of the work being done to it, DUH. Name a park in the US that doesnt have an upcharge ride in it, since almost every park i have been to has a sky coaster in it. I was at the park twice over the weekend and i can telll you the weather was nasty the last 4 days up here in new england. Yes the park had both trains for Thunderbolt redone by PTC in the off season and the reason they did was because they were having lots of problems with the old lap bars which caused alot of down time for the ride last season, in fact it was closed for a couple of months because of it. The only reason it is taking a while for loading is because the new ops are still getting used to it as the park just opened. i rode it a couple of times and it didnt seem like any of the airtime was lost to me in fact i thought it was much better than the old trains. The other train is still not on the transfer track yet and is still in the maintenance building. Here is a pic of the new trains lapbars upclose.
  13. The work on the ride is going at a fast pace as they are trying to get it done in time for the scheduled opening. With the weather up here in the north east they have their work cut out for them. They still have alot of theming to put up and alot of painting to get done. Here is a few more pics from yesterday. pianting the fire cannons putting up more theming all the theming is on site You can follow the construction of the #1 steel coaster at sfneonline.com
  14. There is some really awesome pics of it with some of the theming going up and even one of the trains sitting on the transfer track here
  15. Here is the new commercials they just started showing here in Ct. which do have mrsix in them. Its funny how he says one flag for long hair.lol
  16. Who is Josh and why did his camera get taken? Nice TR and awesome pics!
  17. Here is some pics i took yesterday of the constuction! You can see the rest: http://s280.photobucket.com/albums/kk164/sros1fan/Gradv%20opening%20day%2009/?start=all
  18. There is no tunnel on the lifthill and to let you all know they have been painting the rest of the track since the weather has gotten better. The price to build SROS back in 2000 was 16 million. I can also give you a couple more details on the trains. The seatbelts are longer to accomodate larger guests and on the back of each seat is a light that goes on to let the ops know when the lapbar is down low enough which will help speed up load times. As i said in an earlier post in this thread i have seen all the plans for the ride but was asked by the park not to post the info yet as they wish to keep it secret.
  19. ^ The ride needed some TLC as it celebrates its 10th year as the best coaster on the planet. So why not add a bunch of theming to it so that will insure it will remain the top coaster for years to come.
  20. ^yes the whole track will be painted purple. They left some red because they are adding things in those spots, they wanted to get minderaser done, and the weather got bad so they will finish it when the weather warms up and they done adding the theming.
  21. Sorry for the double post but they have started building the superman shield tunnel system and you can see a huge update which includes a video of mind eraser running for the first time on the newly painted track. http://sfneonline.com/
  22. Here is a good article about the transformation! http://www.masslive.com/news/index.ssf/2009/03/six_flags_new_england_in_agawa.html?category=Agawam
  23. here is alot more of the train up close http://www.seetheride.com/newengland.htm
  24. ^ The trains have nothing to do with the max height restriction. The reason it has one is a flaw in the designing of the underground tunnels. The hieight of the tunnels is not tall enought therefore they had to put the restrictions on max height of the guests. It was easier to do that than to reconstruct them over and it was alot cheaper too.
